Rules

Rules

  1. Be courteous and respectful to other players at all times. We expect everyone in the game to act in a mature fashion to help keep the game running smoothly. Do not create an unpleasant playing environment for others, including but not limited to habitual passive aggressive behavior or antagonizing others to get a rise out of them.

  2. You must be sixteen or older to play in Snowblind.

  3. Snowblind runs on a three strike rule with exceptions. For most rule infractions we will issue a warning, with a ban occurring upon exceeding the three strike limit. However, we reserve the right to move to an immediate ban for more grievous offences such as harrassment, plagiarism, etc. Note that for very minor issues we may just give you a small reminder without giving you a strike; everyone makes mistakes.

  4. Your character must be IC after character development is taken into account. This is a game and not a musebox, and as such we expect players to do their best to keep their characterization solid. We reserve the right to issue a warning for repeated out of character behavior, but note that this will be after we take any in-game development into account. We don't want to discourage you at all from letting the game effect how your characters behave.

  5. IC =/= OOC. Remember that what you know and what your character knows are two separate things, and be careful not to infomod. Additionally, remember that how someone's character feels about your character is not how they feel about you; similarly, how you feel about another player should not bleed into how your character interacts with theirs.

  6. Do not power game or godmode. You cannot dictate the actions of characters that you do not play without explicit agreement from the player of the character in question. Be sure to also always remember that roleplay is not something you play to win and make sure that you only ever use abilities and skills that you are supposed to have. While your character will have access to some flavor abilities, if we see you having your character use abilities that weren't outlined on their application, that will be grounds for a warning.

  7. Warn for content as appropriate, and lock anything that's NSFW to the community. We do allow NSFW content to be written provided both players are at least eighteen and the characters involved are sixteen or older. If they're younger than that, take it to a musebox, please. Lying about your age for the sake of participating in NSFW threads is grounds for an immediate ban.

  8. The current character cap for this game is 100 characters, with a maximum of 5 per canon. This game utilizes a character cap for plot reasons, and at certain points in the game this cap will increase. Canon here is defined by its shared world, which means that, for example, Final Fantasy X would have a canon cap independent of Final Fantasy VIII, while a canon like Legend of Zelda would have one character cap because of the interconnected timeline.

  9. The character limit per player is three characters. You may only play one character from a given canon, with a canon defined as a shared world. This means that you could not play Karkat Vantas and Jane Crocker from Homestuck, but you could play Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII and Vivi from Final Fantasy IX. If you're not sure about your case, just ask us.

  10. There is a mandatory monthly HMD. This HMD will be locked to members of Snowblind only. You will be required to post a link to your comment to the HMD as part of your activity check.

  11. There is a monthly activity check of twenty comments from your character over a maximum of four threads, which must be linked individually when submitting AC. At least one of these threads must have had the bulk of its activity take place before the activity check went up, and if we note that you have a pattern of mostly posting during the activity check, we reserve the right to give you an activity warning.

While we allow AC exemptions for hiatuses and strikes, if you accumulate too many within the span of a year (3-4, depending on if they are hiatuses or strikes), we will not accept further exemptions until the earliest one has expired, unless there are extenuating circumstances. If a situation like this arises, please contact the moderation team so that we can work with you! An AC exemption expires a year after it is taken. Hiatuses which do not exempt you from AC do not count towards this rule.

Activity check will take place over the last seven days of the month. You will have five days to submit your activity, at which point the initial activity check will close and the warning list will go up. You have two days to reply to that with activity or to request a strike. If you take a strike, you must make activity check the following two months with the character who has a strike before it will be lifted. Failing activity check at this point will result in the character being removed from the game.

  12. Make sure to utilize the hiatus and drop post. You may take a hiatus of up to one month; if you need more than that, please contact a moderator and we'll discuss the issue. A hiatus of more than two weeks during the activity check period is required in order for you to qualify to skip that month's activity check. If you will not be around for the activity check but still have to provide activity for it, just give it to us before or after you return and you'll be fine.

Always make sure to use the drop post if you need to let a character go. If you idle out with a character, you will be barred from applying for any new characters for a period of two application cycles. If this proves to be a pattern, we reserve the right to apply further restrictions or give out strikes as necessary.

  13. The moderators reserve the right to use their own judgment when necessary to aid in moderation of the game. Even if something isn't explicitly in the rules, use your common sense, because this is what we will be expecting. Feel free to contact us at any time.
