[Personality]I realized how messy the previous one was so I decided to rewrite it, I hope it's okay
From the time I pull him from his games Leon is a person who used to keep everyone but his small family (Yuffie, Cid and Aerith) away and who is slowly learning to open up to others. In Kingdom Hearts II he is seen to be smiling more often than in all his previous appearances (Even if in Chain of Memories and Coded it wasn't properly 'him'), he seems more friendly with not only Sora but everyone around him and he is seen to act as a protector in Radiant Garden and it's a huge improvement over the silent and distant man who beated a kid to the point he fainted and who honestly didn't care until the few people he cared about were safe. If we really wanted to keep it extremely simple we could just say he is a man who has problems in socializing with others.
He will not reveal his name unless @Admin publishes it, somehow: After his world fell to the darkness he struggled to move on from Rinoa's death and all the people he failed to protect (from his point of view), what kept him sane in Traverse Town was to tell himself that Squall was dead and that Leon was going to succeed where his old self didn't. So far his new identity 'didn't fail him' so he sees no reason to return to his old name. He will suffer from nightmares almost every night and despite being a grown up man he will be extremely wary of dark areas, even when apparently safe in a shelter: Heartlesses (The common monsters of his world) have the ability to teleport inside houses* and after ten years waking up at the slightest sound and making sure no room is completely dark it will be hard to let his habits go. Leon will probably not be able to sleep properly unless he gets to keep the light of the tablet on.
Despite an unnatural fear of the dark Leon will be strong and determined when the situation demands it: he will not run away from any fight if other people may be in danger and once he decides to do something it will be hard to stop him unless you have a valid and rational explanation on why he shouldn't do a certain thing. Leon will definitely experiment with Norfinbury's buildings and environment while trying not to get himself killed, explore how much real freedom they have and probably attempt to take down a wall if he finds appropriate tools. He's unable to sit down and wait, even because he spent months being apathetic when his world fell (before becoming 'Leon') and he still somehow feels like he could end end up like that again if he dares to stop and relax. Back in his world he kept himself busy between protecting the city (It wasn't unusual for Leon to wake up early and patrol Radiant Garden with Yuffie), investigating and rebuilding houses, he actually likes to be too exhausted to keep his eyes open when he can finally go to sleep, he will probably do the same thing in the city trynig to find different things to keep himself his mind (and body) occupied.
He will read and follow the network to keep himself informed but he will rarely speak unless he think he has something important to say. The only exceptions will be kids (always ready to help them- now) and people he knew from his world (basically Sora (And his partners) the FFVII crew and certain Disney characters like Merlin and Scrooge) but even then the man will probably just check on daily basis if they're fine. He shouldn't have problems to join a group, thought, even if he will not be too talktive. Considering he's the head of the restoration committee it's safe to assume he's quite skilled when it comes to lead a group but he will probably avoid major roles in any team to focus on gathering informations instead: in KH we see him rather interested in the castle's library and he's the one who is more interested in finding the truth about Hollow Bastion (How they used to call Radiant Garden before remembering how it really was) snooping around in Ansem's office and trying to figure out what Tron's world really was.
Leon can be rather protective around those he cares about (Aerith and Yuffie are probably the most important people in his life) and he will definitely do his best to keep the people he meets/travels with safe, even at his expense even if they're almost stranger because he's naturally inclined to fight for the others even if he doesn't want to admit it. He will never actually use words to express how much he feels toward others, Leon will show his feelings through actions and with small gestures.
Sometimes, when he thinks to be alone, he can also be seen smiling like an idiot if he' proud of something he did. On a canonmate level he will only recognize the characters he actually interacted with in the KH games (And Rinoa) meaning Quistis, Irvine and most of his FF8 companions will just be total strangers to him.
*Seen more than once. The most blatant example is when Leon and Yuffie are in one of Traverse Town's hotels with Sora and enemies appear between the walls.
[Sample]
Scavenging abandoned houses, avoiding monsters no one could actually hurt, being stuck with people he barely knew... the whole situation felt so similar to Leon it was almost funny. Maybe this time he had no stubborn and loud kids around him, maybe the whole 'Tifa and Cloud remember a completely different world' deal made no sense but otherwise it felt like when he had to leave Radiant Garden and flee to Traverse Town.
"Let's see what we have here..."
Leon pushed some planks out of his way and climbed in his shelter for the night's attic using his tablet to check the perimeter, a small grin appeared on his face when he noticed a familiar granulous white material on the floor. Ah! Even if the room was otherwise empty there was enough insulation material to build a small cocoon for the night, he just had to gather enough stuff to make a small pile and he could use it to keep himself a bit warmer for the night. The man got up, covered the hole that allowed him to sneak in with some of the remaining planks (If only that house had a fireplace) and started pushing the material together, often sopping to check if he was still alone in the house or if something changed around him. After all with seemingly haunted houses you never knew... and even if he learnt that no monster could appear in the darkness here years spent dealing with heartlesses made him wary of his surroundings, even when he was supposed to be in a safe area.
Twenty minutes later his small shelter was ready. Leon sighed sitting on the wooden floor and opening his backpack: he had a child blanket he could threw on the top of the pile and some clothes he could use to keep some extra warmth inside but after considering the situaton for a moment he just left them where they were: even if he sincerely hoped both Aerith and Yuffie would never get to be kindapped he still wanted to keep some emergency clothes, just in case. Whenever he considered to throw them away he just remembered about Yuffie and her midriff-baring outfits or Aerith with her thin dresses... and the man just placed them again in his backpack. At least they didn't weight too much for him even if they stole so much precious space...
After sitting on the pile and covering himself with white grains (he was going to look like an idiot in the morning, he could already feel the small bits of cellulose get stuck in his growing beard, but fortunately enough he never cared too much about fashion) the man grabbed his tablet, the only source of dim light in an otherwise completely dark house, and started typing a message to Tifa. @Griever - Day 066 in Norfinbury. No relevant informations obtained today. Please confirm you all reached a safe shelter for the night. He didn't even know why he kept his old habit to message others, they weren't his Tifa and Cloud and they probably didn't even care about him but the warrior felt like he had to check on them. He closed his eyes enjoying the minimal warmth he had been blessed with for a moment before typing another, now open to all, message. @Griever - Day 066 in Norfinbury. House in square XX. Most of the house is empty but the attic is covered in small chunks of cellulose. Good for keeping yourself warm.
And that was all for the day. He checked his surroundings one last time before finally falling asleep.
