Name: Leo Fitz Canon: MCU - Agents of SHIELD Age: 27 Gender: Male Canon Point: S02E10 Background Link: The life of a nerd. Inventory: +Tan plaid button up shirt (short sleeves) +Navy blue grandpa sweater +White undershirt +Khaki pants +Brown loafers +Cellphone (non-functioning) +SHIELD Badge
Personality: Even before his injury, Fitz was always a bit socially awkward. He's a scientist; science is his passion and his life and really only people that are involved in that life are the ones he can talk to easily and function around. Everyone else? He tends to make a fool out of himself at times, at least until he gets to know them better. He's always had trouble making conversation flow that doesn't involve him rambling about his latest project or experiment and sometimes he can forget that there are even other people around when he really gets caught up in an idea. It takes certain individuals to really understand him but, as of late, he's a lot more cautious of letting people in. Even those that he trusted before are looked at with a bit of wariness, Fitz well aware that most of them now see him as damaged goods even with the progress that he's made.
Despite his awkward nature, Fitz has a pretty bad temper. He can get riled up easily and when something goes against what he believes or knows? It sets him off and he refuses to accept it as truth until he has concrete evidence that it is true because he's stubborn to a fault. He's not one to let go of grudges easily and can, given the situation, turn to violence though it's really only happened once and that was in the face of the man that caused his accident in the first place. His temper has started to show itself more and more, especially when he's faced with a situation where people are making choices that he deems ignorant or out of line in general. He's far quicker to stand up for what he believes in rather than taking a back seat or going with the majority like he might have a couple years ago. He does not take kindly to people bad mouthing his friends and when it's a matter of friend against friend? He'll generally side with the one he's known longer or the situation that he believes in more strongly.
Because of the brain damage he suffered when he was trapped underwater, Fitz has a very hard time stringing things together anymore. Thoughts don't come as easily and he tends to stumble over what he's explaining and get frustrated when it's not coming out right. (Sure, this happened before, but it's even worse now. He loses words far easier and gets overly frustrated when this happens, making it even more difficult for him to verbally communicate.) It's made his social anxieties even worse and has brought on a bit of paranoia as well, considering he feels worthless and assumes that everyone else is thinking it as well. He's getting better but it's still taking time for him to really get his head back on straight. The young man is still smart, it just doesn't always seem that way because he can't get everything out like he use to and his hands don't exactly allow him to do the fine engineering work that he use to do. He's finding other ways to communicate and finding individuals that can assist him by doing what he can't in order to bring his creations to life but it's still frustrating and hard for him. He's made a lot of progress, despite all of the road blocks, and is a little more confident in himself--largely in part to the encouragement of people like Coulson and Skye.
The paranoia is also making him wary of even the people he's been working with for over a year now, as mentioned before, Fitz unable to figure out if they have faith in him still or if they've given up. The absence of his lab partner, Jemma Simmons, has also taken it's toll on Fitz and he's prone to hallucinations and talking to himself as well, though he's recently started to realize that he is, in fact, just imagining Simmons being there. The hallucinations are something that he's getting under control more and more but every now and then he can still be found talking to himself in an attempt to work a problem out. Trust, in general, does not come easy on Fitz's end though and he's generally rather stand-offish to new people until he gets a feel for them.
Fitz's faith in himself and his own abilities is slowly but surely coming back and he's getting better about letting people close but it's still a work in progress. Without a network of people he can rely on, he tends to fall back into the darker thoughts, the fears and the worries that haunted him for the first six months after his initial injury. Only time will tell if Fitz will be able to regain more of his abilities and confidence from before.
