He is also taking the child's hat because he knows there are children here.
When confronted with the monster, Enoch and Clayton will attempt to lure it outside and in a circle around the shed so they can double back in and hold the door closed until lockdown. Hopefully this works, however...
If it's too fast or it's smart enough they have to play with it a little re: baiting and it gets too close to lockdown Enoch will push Clayton at the shed if they're in front of it and run back at the monster to keep it from following, sacrificing himself in the process.
