The process of waiting is probably becoming normal for House--the ebb and flow of panic in the darkness, the silence, time's endless march forward to the hour of reckoning... It happens a little after midnight, of course: the wall slides open, and something with tentacles and Wilson's face pulls itself agonizingly outward. The recording begins to fracture, with tendrils of black snaking in from the edges of the screen.

The hammer strikes the thing dead on the chalky, pale forehead. There's a great, metallic bang that ruins the speakers of any tablet observing this with the sound on. The mallet bounces, the inevitable reality of physics making it bounce once more off the creature. Wilson's face is dead and his eyes are rolled back but his forehead is cracked and bleeding. The tentacles push against the walls and continue outward, pushing past the mallet. Wilson's face, pushed on a neck much too long and much too pale, twists around the mess of the creature's body and slides closer and closer to House.

The tablet records one instant of Wilson's face in an uncomfortable close up before it goes black. House is rendered unconscious--and at some point, he dies.
