Search Requests | |||
For the most part, characters are allowed to travel from uncovered square to uncovered square and gather basic items on their own, provided they announce what they're taking on the appropriate page. However, it's important that we can keep track of how everyone is moving daily, and you and your characters may want to search for more plot-relevant items. There are also squares on the map that no one has traveled to, and remain a mystery until explicitly uncovered. Thus, the search page has been created for this use. You must report your character's movements in your thread. We want to make sure you haven't made any math mistakes and keep characters from accidentally teleporting around the map, for one, and we also want to make sure your character gets to experience any location-relevant situations. We will respond to your characters' movement updates within 48 hours with any monsters they would have run into that day and anything that would happen of note on a specific square your character traveled through, in addition to pointing out any math errors. In the case of monster encounters, while the day they happen on is random, you will be able to select exactly where they encounter them. You will have to respond to us telling us how the character(s) handled the monster. Unless something unusual happens, we will not reply to your character movement updates. How much searching and traveling your character can do is based on the weather, any movement penalties your character may have, and any events that may otherwise hinder travel. Common sources of movement penalties are injury and being over-encumbered--if you want to try and drag a mattress around with you, don't expect to get anywhere very quickly! Travel and search are based on the squares of the map, and all actions are discussed in terms of squares. All searching uses up squares, which means every search reduces the amount of squares your character can travel. No searching is a free action, and is added on top of square movement, so make sure to double check your math! Moving to a square and searching a building in that square both have to be thought of as separate things, not as using the same amount of time. We will provide a limit of the amount of squares your characters have to act which encompass all actions a character takes that day; if they go over that limit, they will not be able to do anything beyond the last action that would have used up a legitimate block of time. Much like finding normal items, searches are split up into quick searches and thorough searches. A quick search takes up one square of travel time per building or area searched, while a thorough search takes up two squares of travel time per building or area searched. If you thoroughly search three buildings on one square, that would take up all of your movement at once, two per building searched. This thread should have your character's name in the subject line. Make sure to reference the setting page where necessary and let us know who is travelling with you. You can also use the character location spreadsheet that lists where characters are on various days, so you can more easily see where everyone is and how it relates to your character. This is player-updated, so feel free to make a row for your character and start adding where they've been! Additionally, there is a player-created and player-run character travel map that can be used, if you would like a more visual way to track things! Note that this is optional and not all characters may be included here. To report character movements, just use this form, making sure to put the IC day in the subject line. To inform us your character is searching for plot-relevant items or traveling into unexplored squares, use the following form, making sure to put the IC day in the subject line. Note that you will not always successfully find something, and the more specific you are in explaining how your character is searching, the better. If your character would like to alter something written in the basic description of a square or building, this is also the place to put that! For example, if your character really is going to give dragging a mattress around a try, they can take one from a house if you let us know. We can both adjust the descriptions of the locations and tell you potential results/penalties. Anything Else? Not so much searching as looking for the ghost kid he and Clayton presumably found parts of earlier! Since it was clear Clayton's video was badly distorted, and the same's happened with other people, Enoch's going to be using that as a "phenomenon detector" and following distortion in the northwest wing. He'll continue until he's found something or time runs short, as stated above.

What Are They Doing? Team Norfinbury Daycare is going to be attempting to remove one of the blank boards in one of the classrooms. If it doesn't come off easily with bare hands alone, they will make an attempt to pry it off using Quark's fireplace poker and/or the nail-removing end of Clem's hammer or her kitchen knife (Enoch will provide the leverage if needed), but will not spend more than a quick search's time with it.

Anything Else? The first thing he's going to do on each floor is investigate the nurse's base because it's the first thing he comes to. He'll use his tablet to look for any moments of video interference and focus on those first. If nothing shows up, he'll look in anything that might be opened, check under desks, and so on. He'll do the same for one of the two-bed rooms across from the nurse's base, but on realizing all the rooms are more or less very similar, he'll only be following any video interference if applicable, except for the VIP rooms since they're different. (if this would take so long he wouldn't make it to the third floor I am not opposed to forcing him into the stairwell for the night)

Anything Else? For the second floor, Enoch is looking at the clinics to the north most of the search, but he's also going to check out that center table, maybe try to unlock it and move it away - more out of curiosity than anything else. He's going to put it back if he can, the mechanism is just interesting and he's testing it out.
For the first floor, Enoch is going straight to the operating area shown in the video he found and scouring the place well through nightfall. How well he'll do with just the backlight of his tablet for light, who knows. But he's looking for anything that might shed light on the video he found.

Notes: Trapped with Clayton with a pair of monsters at the door and windows. His is a macabre shade of the angel it resembles, dragging its upper body along on a spine broken by the weight of its mangled wings, bleeding from its mouth and a gaping hole in its chest that's sometimes not there at all, just a circular swath of static. Bits of its limbs flicker in and out of existence as it lumbers up against the window, prying clumsily at it with its twisted, broken fingers.
Enoch tries to ask it questions. It stops and watches with its red static eyes, listening but not comprehending. It perks up at the name "Lucifel", just like it did when Enoch inadvertently called it on seeing the thing.
He doesn't sleep, and by the morning of this day, he's not convinced it's not Lucifel. And there is only one way he has ever heard of to get an anomaly to speak. Stressed and sleep-deprived, it sounds better than sitting here and watching this pathetic, broken version of the one who's always been there for him.
Ensuring Clayton won't be too close to the anomaly, he tells it to back up, to wait. He opens the window. He climbs out, staggering in sudden nausea and dizziness, but manages to remain upright and open his arms.
"Come here, Lucifel," he says.

Anything Else? He's stuck in a revival point that won't kick him out so he's going to be scouring the place out of restlessness. In particular he's going to be searching under pews, behind and around the altar, and the bride and groom's rooms. If it will let him in he'll look around a while in the morgue area after lockdown, but he's not in much of a state to sit through panic so if it tries to force him out of there it'll succeed. If for any reason he finds himself in the same scenario as House and Rydia despite leaving if prompted, he will attempt to get into one of the drawers when they open. Maybe the light on the other side is an escape route from whatever-it-is.
