Player Plots

This page is for player plots that are run on a large-enough scale to require some sort of sign up, would be difficult for those not involved to ignore, or would effect the setting in some manner that would require a mod response. This includes publicized murders, whether they happen on-camera over the network or are widely reported later, because these tend to incite very widespread responses. A murder that is not intended to be publicized but is witnessed by a character who intends to announce it counts for this as well--the character who wishes to announce it must submit a player plot. These require approval by the moderators so we can make sure everything you want to do is possible and schedule them in on the calendar appropriately. Please submit your player plots at least two weeks in advance of when you would like to run them. In the event of a public murder situation happening suddenly, please submit them as soon as possible. <b>Summary:</b> A summary of the plot you would like to run. Include all the details necessary to make it clear to us how things will proceed. <b>Characters Involved</b> List all characters who will be involved and note if there will be an option for additional characters to sign up/participate. <b>Date/Length:</b> Give us at least a vague date and a more concrete length of time the plot will take place. We need to know this so we can make sure everything is scheduled appropriately. Please make sure you will be around to run the plot, as the moderators will not be taking it over for you if you can't finish it.

Summary: Before we go too far down the rabbit hole!

In this IC conversationBeckett and Will have hit upon a plan to try to engage the data ghosts of Norfinbury through a means that doesn't involve, blood, death, dismemberment. At least not as the initial means of making contact!

What they want to try to do is coordinate an effort across any and all characters who would be willing to participate, to try and open up a gateway of communication for the data ghosts to read them through the tablets. The IC build up to this coming from several different sources, but including things like Will's experience with the 'ghost' dog, Beckett with getting stabbed at the high school, Will with the teenage laughing at the high school, so on and so forth. Also IC factors involved, Watson explaining Sherlock's experiment to Hannibal, Sherlock's recent return network post and Watson's end to end post taking people to task for being reckless.

Since Beckett mentioned that no one had tried to talk to the data ghosts across the tablet, this seems like a low body count (we hope!) experiment to explore.

The plan, if approved, is for there to be an IC post requesting volunteers/input from other Norfinbury residents and also an OOC sign up post for players to jump on board. Then there will be an IC post where the plan is actually put into motion to see what sort of response they get!

Characters Involved Beckett and Will to kick off but then opened up to any and all characters/players who wish to participate.

Date/Length: We're pretty flexible on time. I know there is a game event scheduled for Day 314, if this would be better run before that event, I am available and can run it over the holidays no problem. If it would be better to wait till after the event, then we could do the initial IC information gathering and OOC sign up posts here at the end of December and run the actual experiment in January?

What specifically will they be doing to try and communicate?

One hope is that by asking the network at large for ideas they could get input from various PC minds. But we're kind of envisioning a sort of technological seance across Norfinbury using the tablets to see if a wide range collaborative effort could help open a dialogue to a data ghost or two.

The idea cropped up from Beckett suggesting they try to have interactions at every haunted house using the best Character personality fit for that house; so like how Will was a good fit for the dog. Will said that could take a long time to get people around to physical locations but threw out the suggestion of a group technology seance with the tablets. That way if Character X in location Y might tempt a dataghost in location A occupied by Character B that ghost might respond to Character X heard throug Character B's tablet.

So upon agreement one night everybody willing to participate wherever they are in Norfinbury will open a channel on their tablet try to make a tablet grid and try to contact data ghosts. I'm hoping ICly some characters would suggest specific names they could try to start with and go from there.

Okay, got it! This is approved. It'd probably be better to have it in January, since December is usually a pretty slow month especially around the latter half of it. More people would be available then!

January works perfectly!! Would it be okay to work on and post an OOC announcement to the comms here in December, with all the IC stuff kicking off in January? Or would it be better to hold everything until January?

We definitely will be waving our arms in the air and trying to ensure as many players who want to participate have time to plan and jump on board.
