Search Requests | |||
While traveling through Norfinbury, you and your characters may want to search for more plot-relevant items. There are also squares on the map that no one has traveled to, and remain a mystery until explicitly uncovered. Thus, the search page has been created for this use. This page is not for reporting standard movements; if you need to do that, follow the directions on the character movements page. You can also find the square allowances on that page: remember, a quick search takes one square of movement, while a thorough search takes two! In order to have your character search an area, first find the comment of the location your character will be searching. There are general area comments at the beginning for uncovering new squares, searching outside of buildings, and talking to @ADMIN or other things not tied to a specific building. If your character is trying to speak to @ADMIN, simply use the header for the area your character is currently in. After those are building comments for searching inside of buildings. We will reply back within two days informing you what your characters found. Search requests will always receive some sort of reply, even if it's just "there isn't anything interesting here". We will also do our best to hint if there's something more your character can do, if this place has already been thoroughly searched, or if there's just nothing there at all. In order to submit a search request, please put the IC day you're doing your search in the subject line and fill out the following form: | |||
BUILDING 252
Days 211-212
Area Searched:
UU2 - 252 (thorough)
Anything Else? Church and Caboose are spending these two days just rummaging around the lobby and trying to find a way upstairs. They'll be attempting to use Caboose's considerable strength to try clearing rubble, forcing the elevators open, and punching the electronically locked door.

Day 222
Area Searched:
VV3 - 252 (table in lobby)
Anything Else? You know what, faded sign? He'll do what you say, because Doctor Strange was here and it would be nice for people to know that. Stephen has both a notebook and a pen in his pack, so he'll turn the table right side up, then tear out a page from the former and write "SIGN IN" at the top and "Stephen Strange" underneath that, leaving room for other sign-ins. His handwriting is not so great, but he'll do his best. Just for good measure, he'll use a sticker in the shape of a cat to tape the paper to the table.

Day 238
Area Searched:
UU3 - 252
Anything Else? Knock knock skybridge please let us in.

Considering the odds of maintenance showing up are pretty slim, maybe they'd have more luck trying to get in from the other side of the skybridge.
Day 247
Area Searched:
UU2 - 252 - THOROUGHLY
Anything Else? Beckett, Brian and Enoch are searching for clues~
First they'll check and see if the manacles on that special bed can safely be closed and then opened again. Then Beckett will lie down on the 13th bed (if they can open the manacles safely, Enoch will fasten him in). If nothing happens they'll let him go after a few moments.
Also Brian will have his knife out in case he needs to stab an anomaly or something while this is going down. Enouch will also be keeping an eye out for anything attacking and will attempt to place himself between any threat and Beckett.

"Ah- I'm sorry, we didn't intend to disturb you, or...remind you of unpleasantness. I swear I was never going to hurt him; he's a beloved friend of mine! We're only seeking answers, if learning more about what happened to you might help us ensure it never happens again. It isn't right, that you've had to die for this madness. Have you any information to share? We'll try to use it to end this nightmare for all of us."
If there is no response, he will offer another apology for disturbing them and say a prayer for their unfortunately-lingering souls.

Anything Else? The trio will be checking
for monstersunder the bed and then searching the bodies.Beckett will be using his archelogist skillz to try to figure out what was done to the bodies pre and post death. He'll also be checking for signs of how they died and if they're missing any important bits.
Enoch will be looking for wounds (and what caused them), obvious cause of death if applicable, and he's going to be apologizing to every one he examines for not being able to be more respectful. He'll say short prayers for each body he searches, and then a longer one for all of them once the group is done.
Brian is pretty much just poking around and looting the bodies. Looking for obviously weird stuff or anything useful on or in the bodies. (In their clothes, if they have then, and in mouths or open holes. But at least he's not fisting them or opening new things.)

Day 248
Area Searched:
UU2 - 252 - THOROUGHLY
Anything Else? Following House's report on the effects of the eye app on the shackles he found, Beckett, Brian, and Enoch - being without any kind of sense of self-preservation whatsoever have another go at the 13th bed. Beckett again volunteers to lie down while Enoch closes the manacles, at which point Brian activates his eye app at the bed. To see what would happen.
Precautions (knife, Enoch keeping watch) are being taken as before. Now let's see if we all die.

Day 252 (possibly 253? but 252 is the earliest they'd get here)
Area Searched: UU2 - 252- THOROUGHLY
Anything Else? Beckett and Enoch are back for a third round of extremely ill-advised experiments, leaving Brian behind (Brian is clearly the wisest of this group). Beckett has talked Enoch into assisting him, but it's clear throughout he really doesn't want to be doing this.
1: Preliminary step
First, Beckett will get into the 13th bed and allow himself to be restrained to it as before. Then, he will activate his eye app to see if it behaves any differently now that Beckett has been marked with the Prophet eye. If it does nothing, Beckett will allow himself to be shackled face-down so the eye (on the back of his neck) faces outward. They will leave the eye app active throughout the experiment.
2: Appeal to the spirits
2a: If that does nothing still, Enoch will address the room itself (or specifically the ghosts in it):
"We're trying to determine what this place did for the Prophet's followers. If you know, please, I beg of you, tell us. Did it serve some purpose, some generation of power or a key for some arcane lock? Or was it only ritual sacrifice and nothing more? I don't want to find out by tracing their steps. I honestly and truly don't. Please. Say something. I don't want to go on."
2b: Beckett will invite the spirits to do whatever they need, if Enoch gets no response or it was useful.
If they get a response that confirms it was only ritual or if it does something that would be of no use, Enoch will undo the manacles and refuse to continue. If they get no response, or confirmation of it having some other purpose (that would benefit them), and Beckett prompts no response either, Enoch will, reluctantly, move on to step 3.
3:
Actual sufferingBLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD3a: With either a knife Beckett supplies or his own sharpened paring knife, Enoch will (after cleaning the area with hand soap and water - traveling with a doctor has taught him a lot about infection) make a shallow cut on Beckett's arm or fingertip, just deep enough to draw blood. If that does nothing, he will make a (still surface level) cut on the back of his neck, clipping the corner of the eye mark. If that does nothing, he will instead score a line through the mark. If still nothing, they will move on to the next step.
3b: That is, whipping. Intact clothing is important in Norfinbury, so Enoch will, taking care not to tear anything particularly well worn and obviously undoing the manacles as needed, bare Beckett's back. And will probably balk at the sight of whipping scars already there and have a brief debate about who should really be on that bed that he will probably lose, emotionally drained as he is. End result: He'll do it but he is not mimicking malice, taking care once again to clean the area beforehand, and stressing that he will stop the moment Beckett gives the word. Using strips of leather Beckett was wearing to make a whip, he'll...probably accidentally catch his own arm once or twice before getting it right. He'll stop the moment there is an effect or he delivers three lashes, whichever is first (though if Beckett urges him on he could make it up to five). He is so not meant for this.
3c: If that produced no results, they'll move on to something more disfiguring. There will be another debate as they consider removing a tooth (for which they have no decent tools, Enoch will refuse to knock or dig one out) or cutting something off - Enoch will refuse to remove anything more than the tip of an earlobe (again, properly cleaned before). Again, not meant for this in any way, shape, or form. He is also in much more extreme distress by the end of this because why would you suggest any form of amputation to Enoch after the incident with Clayton's toes, really.
4: There is no step four
If that did nothing, Beckett may suggest more extreme measures but Enoch will have given up. He will undo the manacles, clean whatever wounds Beckett will allow him to clean, and will not under any threat or circumstances (save a threat on Beckett's life) agree to continue. That's it, undeadlings, he's done.

2) There is no response to this.
3) The air gets colder and colder until it feels like it's just as cold as it would be outside. The more Enoch does, the colder it gets, though there are no associated physical effects of the cold--no frostbite or anything else. The air is thick and heavy, and it's like something is watching them--but as soon as Enoch undoes the manacles, the feeling fades, and the moment is gone.
Day 261
Area Searched:
VV2 - 252- THOROUGHLY
Anything Else? Peter is trying to get the 'ghosts' to help them with the people captured in the sealed building. He's going to run around the accessible areas inside the building and do his best to get their attention by yelling, waving his hands, and playing various songs on his tablet and zune, including I want you back, Jackson 5, especially around the creepy beds. He's going to also do this while jumping on a couple of them. He's going to ask them for information, for help, for anything that can help them get into the building or tell them more about what's going on.
Edit: He's going to mention that they want to help Andromeda, and put an end to the prophet cult nonsense, and tell them he understands that they were put through some awful things and a bunch more people were going through it again, and he wants to save them from having their same fate.

Day 359
Area Searched:
VV2 - 252 (thorough)
Anything Else? Because Sherlock and John haven't had enough Fun with Corpses today, they're going to work on getting the stairway cleared, per this location alteration:
John and Sherlock will be taking it in turns (accounting for nosebleeds and dizziness) to drag corpses away from the staircase door and into one corner. They'll pile them together, and then push two beds over so that the area is cordoned off.
As they move the bodies, Sherlock will be working out the manners of death for them and seeing if he can deduce anything about them from their appearance or the way they were killed. John will say a few brief words over the bodies, apologizing for what's happened to them, thanking them for trying to fight the cult, and telling them they're working on fixing it, fixing everything and saving Norfinbury. He'll also ask if any of them are here and if there's something specific he can do for them. Some message he can relay, something he can take to find a final resting place in their home. Anything they need.
Mina will be filming with the Ocean Eye App as the body moving takes place and while John says his words over the bodies.

There's no reaction to the Ocean's Eye App.
The staircase is now fully accessible, so they can exit into the ground floor that way.
