Applications are closed permanently. Thank you to everyone who has applied over the years! Before applying for a character, make sure you've read the rules and FAQ. You should also refer to the application guide to see what we're looking for in our applications. You may apply for one character per application cycle and three characters total. Please put your character's name and canon in the subject line of your application comment. Applications must be posted directly to this post and cannot be links. We will screen your application if you request it of us after we review it. Application challenges are allowed, but someone who did not place a reserve challenge cannot challenge a reserved application. Once reservations expire, an application challenge can only be placed before we process the character application of the applicant you would like to challenge. In the event of us nearing our application cap and having more applications than slots, we will attempt to choose the most well-written applications. First-time applicants will be processed first, then applications for second characters, and finally applications for third characters. We may allow more applications to be submitted than we have slots for in the name of greater selection. We will clarify in our response if an application is not being allowed into the game because of the cap or because of issues with the application not meeting the standards of the game. His eyes glow when he gets super angry, usually when he’s going into berserk mode (but berserk mode will obviously be nullified).
I’m not sure if this would be a flavor ability or not, but YGO protagonists basically can pull the exact card they need in crucial moments. ~Beliiiiieeeeevvvveee in the heart of the caaaards~ shenanigans and all that good jazz. So if Yuya’s survival depends on card games like it does in canon, this should probably be nullified. Please let me know if it should be nerfed!
Suitability:
Despite YGO canon being focused on a children’s card game, it’s surprisingly dark as heck. You’ve got kidnapping, soul-stealing, child abandonment (looking at all the missing protag’s dads), dimension hopping, and warfare. It gets pretty intense, and Yuya’s still dragged into the middle of it even though he’s 14.
As for how he’d likely handle the game, I think he would switch between being desperate in finding a way home so that he can go back to rescuing his bff AND trying to make others smile even though he would also feel pretty crappy about the situation. He’s always quick to offer help and give pep talks to people who are down, so he’ll likely attempt to get along with anyone (unless they’re an outright jerk). Yuya’s basically a pro in rough terrain since his training for Action Duels requires it, so him moving from place to place isn’t a problem. As for combat, he’d more likely use distractions to run away or find some way to make a trap. He’s not a fighter.

Decided on how I’m going to mark where I’ve been!
…Ooooooooooor not. This one took a long time but I was also bored.
Too bad there aren’t markers lying around. That’s kind of weird to think about. When I think about the most common object I’d find on the ground I think pens or pencils. So this place is just weird.
If I find an easier way to mark a place, I could write jokes too.
Snowblind Setting – Log {House 42}
[Yuya pauses in the entranceway of the living room, hands on his hips while scanning the area. A few seconds of looking around and he’s already fondly smiling at the clown plushies strewn all over. The figurines are a little creepy, but at least the dolls are cute in their own way. He chuckles, finally stepping forward as he scoops up a plushie from the couch in front of him--]
You know, I actually like clowns! I never found them scary. Even dressed up as one during a big, championship duel. [His chest swells with pride, thinking of his first official broadcasted duel against Strong Ishijima. He got a few laughs out of his little act.] It a good costume to match with my deck since it’s based on circus animals-- sorry little guy. [The apology is for the plushie as he begins to rip off the outfit to collect the material.
I don’t really get the whole ‘clowns are evil’ idea that a lot of people have. We’re just honest people trying to get a smile, that’s a—aaAAAH?! [Yuya yelps and takes a few quick steps backwards after he turns around to address his companion, only to spot the giant clown statue hiding in the corner.]
W-Why would you buy something like that?!

A two-story A-frame house. The first floor has a living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, and two bedrooms. The second floor has a master bedroom, master bathroom, and balcony. There's a glass showcase cabinet in the living room decorated with various elementary-school sports awards and little plastic trophies, although the bases of all the statues are missing. The rightmost bedroom on the first floor is similarly decorated with sports memorabilia and posters of women athletes. It seems like a young girl once owned the room.
