Applications are closed permanently. Thank you to everyone who has applied over the years! Before applying for a character, make sure you've read the rules and FAQ. You should also refer to the application guide to see what we're looking for in our applications. You may apply for one character per application cycle and three characters total. Please put your character's name and canon in the subject line of your application comment. Applications must be posted directly to this post and cannot be links. We will screen your application if you request it of us after we review it. Application challenges are allowed, but someone who did not place a reserve challenge cannot challenge a reserved application. Once reservations expire, an application challenge can only be placed before we process the character application of the applicant you would like to challenge. In the event of us nearing our application cap and having more applications than slots, we will attempt to choose the most well-written applications. First-time applicants will be processed first, then applications for second characters, and finally applications for third characters. We may allow more applications to be submitted than we have slots for in the name of greater selection. We will clarify in our response if an application is not being allowed into the game because of the cap or because of issues with the application not meeting the standards of the game. REVISION REQUEST
Your samples seem to suggest that there is more coherence in Brian than one would be led to believe at first blush. Because there seem to be times when it comes through (and it would be difficult to play the character otherwise--to clarify, we are dubious as to if the character would have enough canon to be appable), we would like an expansion of the personality section to include what Brian was like before the Operator's influence and how it may come through in Snowblind.
Please reply to this comment with your revisions within three days or your slot will be forfeit.
Re: REVISION REQUEST
Personality addendum: Before the Operator came into his life, Brian was more or less a normal guy. He was calm, easy going and generally friendly. The fact that he managed to befriend Tim in the first place shows that he was a caring person, willing to work his way past someone's defenses to make a friend instead of just giving up and letting them be. He's responsible for getting Tim involved with the Marble Hornets movie, showing that he's more than willing to help his friends out by encouraging them to grow as a person. He even compliments Alex's script at one point, a move which seems to be more polite and friendly than something the script actually deserves.
Brian is also shown as a bit of a joker and somewhat cautious. When Alex takes him out to the abandoned hospital as fodder for the Operator he's uneasy being there. While he might sense something off about the whole thing he voices his concerns as not being sure if they should be there, implying that he doesn't like to break the rules.
He was also rather trusting of his friends, which turned out to be a bad trait in the end run.
--
While most of his old personality has been eroded away ('calm' is most certainly not a term that applies to him and he doesn't really get the concept of joking anymore), there are bits of it still left. The most notable is his desire to help; while Jay and Tim have become pawns more than friends he still sees himself as helping them. Helping them reach a shared goal, sure, but still helping. His methods have shifted from friendly encouragement to puzzles and breadcrumbs, but it’s still helping in his mind. And he understands that if you want something from someone its best to offer something in return, so he'll be trying to assist others in figuring out the mysteries of Norfinbury.
Given Snowblind's setting he'll be forced to interact with people more often than he had in canon. Much like a wild animal, the more he interacts with people the more comfortable he'll be around them. His 'friendly' is never going to be the same as it was before the Operator but over time he'll be more likely to classify people as allies instead of just pawns.
ACCEPTED
Step into the only remaining room in this house and you'll be in for a shock--at first blush, it looks like you've stepped into a room that has blood all over the floor and walls. Look closer, though, and it's actually paint. This was once an artist's studio, judging by the canvases stacked up in the corner. It seems like there were paintings on the canvases once, but now they're muddy or blacked out entirely by thick paint.
