You should also refer to the application guide to see what we're looking for in our applications. You may apply for one character per application cycle and three characters total. Please put your character's name and canon in the subject line of your application comment. Applications must be posted directly to this post and cannot be links. We will screen your application if you request it of us after we review it. Application challenges are allowed, but someone who did not place a reserve challenge cannot challenge a reserved application. Once reservations expire, an application challenge can only be placed before we process the character application of the applicant you would like to challenge. In the event of us nearing our application cap and having more applications than slots, we will attempt to choose the most well-written applications. First-time applicants will be processed first, then applications for second characters, and finally applications for third characters. We may allow more applications to be submitted than we have slots for in the name of greater selection. We will clarify in our response if an application is not being allowed into the game because of the cap or because of issues with the application not meeting the standards of the game. Inventory: Nothing but her clothes and a double-headed troll caegar for sweet coin flips.
Personality: Let me tell you a story.
I was watching So You Think You Can Dance with my parents one night because they basically control the TV when I'm home and there wasn't really anything better on. It was at the very beginning of the season where everyone is trying out to be on the show and you get to see all the people who are actually really terrible embarrass themselves in front of the judges. This one guy comes on; he's something like eighteen, plays football, and awkward as fuck. He is the whitest fucking kid I have ever seen in my life. His specialty is hip hop.
So he gets up on stage, and it quickly becomes clear that the judges don't know what to make of him. I don't know what to make of him. I am halfway to being convinced that he's going to be terrible up there when he actually begins to perform -- and it turns out he's not half bad. The judges pass him on to the next round of try outs, and after they cut to commercial, I turned to my family and asked:
"Was he messing with us? Is he actually that weird, or did he intentionally play it up to throw everyone off?"
That's Terezi Pyrope.
Let me lay down some basics about this weirdo:
1) Terezi is the trollingest troll that ever trolled. She is one of the most successful of the Alternians when it comes to messing around with the kids (and other trolls, for that matter). She's great at getting into people's heads and finding out what pushes their buttons, and she will exploit it given a reason and half a chance. She's not usually not serious in her dealings with others; her interactions with others usually have an incredibly silly slant to them, as evidenced by pretty much everything she does in this memo and the pictures of kids from the 80s and 90s drawn over in MS Paint and slash fanart she sends Dave. She's flirty, mocking, and sometimes downright intimidating in her interactions with others, though her trolling rarely steps over into outright offensive or malicious territory -- what she does is more like friendly teasing for laughs. When she does cross those lines (like when she killed John in an alternate timeline and got an alternate Dave killed to prove a point), she genuinely feels pretty awful about it.
2) The reason why she's so great at trolling others is her skill in manipulation. Like mentioned before, Terezi is very observant and great at finding out what makes others tick. While she usually does this only to fuck around with people, back in her FLARPing days she would dismantle entire teams with nothing but politics and headgames, and occasionally she will arrange things so that she gets what she wants. The crowning example of this is probably when she lays down the law on Vriska: she first contacts a nigh-omniscient, incredibly powerful being known to her as Mr. Vanilla Milkshake (actually Doc Scratch) and tells him Vriska has been cheating in the games the two of them play and that she knows why. She then threatens to kill Vriska and plays on her addiction to consulting prophetic devices. Unfortunately for Vriska, this particular device is a magic cue ball she had stolen from Mr. Vanilla Milkshake, the very same thing she'd been using to cheat against him. Terezi tells him she has it, causing him to flip the fuck out and make it blow up in Vriska's face. Doc Scratch had not wanted anything to do with the trolls' feud, nor was it particularly difficult for Terezi to provoke the reactions she needed to make the scheme work.
3) Terezi is extremely interested in JUSTICE and ORCHESTRATING THE DEMISE OF THE WICKED. She possesses a strong set of morals and won't hurt people who don't deserve it. Back when she FLARPed, she imagined herself as part of a vigilante duo with Vriska devoted to taking down bad guys. When Vriska finally reveals herself as a HUGE BITCH, Terezi refuses to associate with her and to this day acts very coolly towards her (and secretly bitches about her to Dave like all the time). In the conversation where Vriska contacts her about violating their truce (the point of which she totally misunderstood), Terezi is very put out by the fact that her former friend is a gigantic liar and basically stepped all over her morals. Those who lie and murder are bad guys, and as an aspiring legislacerator she will punish bad guys to the fullest extent possible. That she stuff she did with Mr. Vanilla Milkshake to get him to blow up the cue ball? It was all to get vengeance on Vriska for hurting Tavros and Aradia. That whole "orchestrating the demise of the wicked" thing on her intro page isn't an exaggeration. She's Daredevil, Harvey Dent, and a bit of Batman all rolled up into one adorabloodthirsty, obnoxious, know-it-all package.
4) The above points lead into this one: her viciousness. Alternia is a Lord of the Flies death planet specifically for kids. There are no adults there; they've all left to go conquer the galaxy. Children are culturally encouraged to be assert their dominance and be brutal to each other, reinforced by a strict "hemospectrum" that determines caste by the color of blood. Terezi, for the most part, doesn't give a shit about the hemospectrum, and she's a relatively peaceful character, but that doesn't stop her from occasionally killing the hell out of her problems in order to solve them -- all it means is that she's got some self-control. The trolls blazed through their Sgrub session in a month because of how good they were at killing things. She attempted to murder Vriska as a child, killed an alternate timeline version of John, orchestrated a doomed timeline Dave in order to make a point, and finally succeeded in killing godtier Vriska in order stop her from leading a bullshittingly unfair boss back to the trolls' hideout. Her official introduction shows her hanging one of her plush toys after finding it guilty. She was Flarping partners with Vriska before their falling out; she'd take apart whole teams with nothing but politics and head games. Sure, she was doing it all in the name of justice, but that doesn't change the fact she was killing people for fun. Terezi's no stranger to death, and while she deeply regrets her actions with Dave and Vriska later, in her canon point she's still got a streak of morbid humor a mile wide.
I mean hell, she describes the Handmaiden, a figure of death throughout Alternian history, as "SUP3R FOXY."
5) Because of the way she perceives her world, Terezi is obsessed with tastes, smells, and colors, including that of other people's blood. Karkat's blood is a source of endless curiosity for her until she finally smells it under his skin, and the first thing she asks after Dave throws his body out the window is what his blood smells and tastes like. Where people tend to take their senses for granted, Terezi talks about hers all the time. Things are not simply red or brown, they are strong cherry cough syrup or chocolate. Even people are categorized this way, like Sollux being "appleberry blast" to her. When she draws things, she picks colors less by how things actually look and more by what colors smell or taste the best. She values her blindness and her ability to smell and taste because the traumatic event that maimed her led to her waking up early on Prospit, where she finally heard from her lusus. Learning how to use her senses differently was the first time she'd been able to interact with her monster mom. By troll standards, Terezi is an orphan, but she was finally able to make a connection with her lusus.
6) It is worth noting how surprisingly chill Terezi acts about a lot of things -- she's not all silliness and murder. When Karkat comes busting in and demanding to take control of the Red Team, she just throws her hands up and lets him. She doesn't fight him about it or plot and backstab over it like Vriska and Equius. She just wants to play the game. Although their home and all the rest of the other trolls in existence are dead and gone, she's still somewhat upbeat about things instead of being emotionally crushed under the awfulness of their situation. She's not even upset about being blind -- deep down inside, she prefers being this way. If she'd never lost her sight, her dreamself wouldn't have woken up, and then she never would have heard from her lusus until it was prototyped in the Medium. Instead of getting hissy and lashing out at things, Terezi tends to just roll with life's punches. If something does bother her, she'd rather hide it or downplay how much it affects her rather than wear it on her sleeve.
Got all that? Good. Because remember hip hop white kid up there? Terezi is like that kid in that it's never quite clear how much of her behavior is her putting on an act for other people. This girl performs. Look at the way she roleplays with Nepeta: "Ok how about this girl. You like to roleplay with her sometimes via chat. You pretend you are a member of the mysterious and noble DRAGONYY'YD RACE, while she does her own goofy thing. You don't have it in your heart to tell her that your chat RPing is meant f4c3t1ously I mean facetiously. Why the hell does she do it? Because it's fun. Because she wants to. Because it's what other people expect from her -- it's part of the image she's built. Does she really believe her scalemates are alive? Fuck no. She pretends to believe that because it annoys other people -- but she does so in her introduction, when no one else is around. There is no one to be annoyed by her game. The same goes for when she discovers Tavros' murder: she decaptchalogues her toys and reenacts a crime scene investigation for her own entertainment. Nobody's watching her. She's doing it because she wants to.
She walks the tightrope between terribly ironic and terrifyingly sincere. Terezi is the kind of kid who wears dragon costumes because she 100% fucking loves dragons and because dragon costumes are impossibly tacky. She genuinely enjoys what she does, just as much as she enjoys watching other peoples' reactions to her.
One big, important thing to note is that buried deep beneath her collected exterior, Terezi is harboring the potential for some very serious self-esteem issues. If she makes a mistake -- a huge mistake like killing her friend that she'll never, ever be able to take back -- she kinda completely fucking loses aLL OF HER GODDAMN SPAGHETTI. She falls into a deep depression after killing Vriska. She starts to feel inadequate when compared to the dancestors, allows herself to be manipulated by Aranea into healing her eyes, and all of Gamzee's blackrom taunts hit far, far harder than they should have. She blames herself heavily for not searching for a different outcome to the fight on the meteor. At the time, looking into the possible futures revealed only two paths: one where Vriska flew away and got them all killed, and one where Terezi killed Vriska and saved everyone on the meteor, but she knows that she's just as responsible for the decisions that led up to that choice. She ended up painting herself into a corner and regretted it until the day she died. Literally.
Flavor Abilities: I would like to keep Terezi's ability to smell and taste colors. As I've mentioned before, she's blind. The way she perceives the world is through other senses. This is not a supernatural ability; this is something that any troll could probably learn to do, if they had the incentive for it and the proper teacher.
Trolls are also obnoxiously difficult to kill for whatever reason? Probably Hussie's weird KIDS AND FUN fetish idk. Terezi's not going to be shrugging off something stupid like dismemberment, but I'd like her to still be a bit sturdier than the average thirteen year old girl.
Suitability: Terezi grew up on a Lord of the Flies death planet. Unlike many other trolls, she had no lusus to care for her, so she essentially had to raise herself. She is no stranger to having to scrape out a living, though the snow is going to be very new to her. Not being able to fight monsters after coming out of a game where she hit max level is going to be strange, though.
Act 6 is just one incredibly long spiral downwards into depression and self-loathing, so there will be some basis for the psychological aspects of Snowblind to take hold. Although she's probably going to be one of the youngest characters in the game, it's not like she's coming from a children's cartoon canon. She's had to deal with death and fear before.

A standard two-story house with a basement. The first floor has a kitchen, living room, and dining room, while the second floor has two bedrooms and a bathroom. There are plenty of knitted things in this house; the dining room is suspiciously empty, the place where the table used to be now bare, and there was once a large knitted bear, but it's disappeared. There are knitting materials to be found here, fittingly. The following has been written inside on the door:
"SCHOOL
1 DAY WALK SOUTH
FOOD IN THE CAFETERIA
BEWARE OF MONSTERS"
