Applications are closed permanently. Thank you to everyone who has applied over the years! Before applying for a character, make sure you've read the rules and FAQ. You should also refer to the application guide to see what we're looking for in our applications. You may apply for one character per application cycle and three characters total. Please put your character's name and canon in the subject line of your application comment. Applications must be posted directly to this post and cannot be links. We will screen your application if you request it of us after we review it. Application challenges are allowed, but someone who did not place a reserve challenge cannot challenge a reserved application. Once reservations expire, an application challenge can only be placed before we process the character application of the applicant you would like to challenge. In the event of us nearing our application cap and having more applications than slots, we will attempt to choose the most well-written applications. First-time applicants will be processed first, then applications for second characters, and finally applications for third characters. We may allow more applications to be submitted than we have slots for in the name of greater selection. We will clarify in our response if an application is not being allowed into the game because of the cap or because of issues with the application not meeting the standards of the game. Kanan Jarrus | Star Wars (2)
Kanan's strongest trait is willpower. Like all Jedi, he must possess a strong will to use the Force without falling to the dark side. That strong will - whether it manifests as bravery or stubbornness - carries over to all aspects of Kanan's personality. From a young age in the temple and later from his master, Kanan learned that it was important to master his fears and desires in order to wield his power for the benefit of others. This iron control over himself, as well as renewed faith in the idea that the Force is guiding all things, gives him the ability to both command forces confidently and to step back and follow difficult orders when necessary. When he had to, for the good of the crew and the rebellion, he was willing to work together with clones like those that had turned on the Jedi. He was also willing to separate from his
space wifelongterm romantic partner, Hera, without knowing if or when they would be reunited in order for them to both serve the galaxy to their fullest capacity. By virtue of his position as a leader, he often places those he's closest to in incredibly dangerous situations and trusts them to survive by having confidence in their skills and not allowing his own feelings toward them to blind him. While not perfectly practicing what a typical Jedi might consider "non-attachment" (see: Hera and their weird adopted family), Kanan has a strong enough will to do what is right even when it conflicts with his personal desires and happiness.Of course, just because Kanan has a strong will, doesn't mean he's perfectly zen. As a young teenager, he witnessed the murder of his master by those that were allies and in the same day the death of his entire way of life at the hands of the Empire. Alone in the world and a fugitive from the Empire, Kanan spent his adolescence eking out a living in lawless parts of the galaxy. During that time he changed from a curious, empathetic boy to a cynical, closed-off man. He can be pessimistic and suspicious of others' motives, and generally expects the worst from people until he's proven wrong. As a consequence of that paranoia and living in a galaxy where he could be killed at any time for what he is, Kanan's incredibly secretive not just about his Jedi heritage but also about his past and any personal details. His apprentice doesn't even learn anything about his history until the second season, when Kanan's confronted with it directly.
While he's totally unwilling to talk about himself except under dire circumstances, what Kanan doesn't ever lack is something to say. Always quick-witted, Kanan's difficult life honed his sarcasm to a fine point and he takes the usual Star Wars fight banter to a new and grumpy level. He gets annoyed easily by his fellow rebels and defensive when people - especially his significant other, Hera - call him on his nonsense. While he's reckless and cavalier in the face of real danger, he is a baby about small discomforts - for instance, when the ship had to cut non-essential functions in order to preserve fuel, he whined about being cold. Because of how easily annoyed he is, he can be snappish and judgemental toward his loved ones, and even moreso toward strangers.
However, just because Kanan's grumpy doesn't mean he doesn't care. He spent many years running from his past and his emotions, but all that changed when he met Hera. She reminded him of the values he was meant to uphold and discovered the kind of small acts of compassion and justice that he had been doing in secret all along. Kanan's greatest regret is running when his master needed him, and Hera convinced him to make up for it by joining the rebellion against the Empire. His grumpiness is often a cover for how much he cares, and his soft side is often in evidence when dealing with his 'kids.' While he's tough in training and combat, he gives praise freely when it's earned, both verbally and in the form of physical affection. There are also many moments when Kanan softens, especially around Ezra, and displays empathy for his apprentice's own painful past and difficult present. He's also incredibly devoted to Hera and values her opinion enough to seriously listen and consider her perspective when they disagree.
In fact, though Kanan's first response to conflict is snark, he's often very open about listening to those he cares about and admitting when he's wrong or doesn't have the answer. He shows strong awareness of his own flaws and shortcomings, sometimes to the point of insecurity. For example, because Kanan was very young when his master died, he doubts his ability to be a good teacher for his Apprentice and jumps at the chance to find an alternate teacher, later explaining that he had many doubts about his ability to teach Ezra to be a good Jedi. However, as always, he overcame that insecurity and dedicated himself to being Ezra's teacher rather than just trying to.
Flavor Abilities: Ability to sense other living things (PCs only) close by. [Depending on how nerfed you guys need this to be, it could be further brought down to "sensing people he already knows are there but who are no longer in his direct line of sight" maybe?]
Extremely strong athletic abilities (on par with a professional gymnast, perhaps)
Suitability: Honestly, this probably isn't the worst place Kanan's ever been. It's not even the worst place Kanan's been recently.
While the somewhat hopeless feeling of being in Norfinbury, and the helplessness that comes along with it, Kanan's life prior to now has left him a resilient, if incredibly grumpy, man. He will likely devote himself to helping others and trying to solve the town's mysteries, though he'll try to avoid emotionally close connections. He may have an especially strong reaction to the various totalitarianism themes going on (the Riley stuff).
While Norfinbury's tendency toward drama and the occasional murder will not exactly please Kanan, he's also pretty equipped to deal with it and continue working with those that are not exactly morally upright, provided they aren't actually trying to murder him.

ACCEPTED
A two-story A-frame house. The first floor has a living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, and two bedrooms. The second floor has a master bedroom, master bathroom, and balcony. The master bedroom has a large walk-in closet that has countless shoes within, fit for all sorts of fancy occasions. Unfortunately, this person's definition of fancy involves high heels and sandals, so they're not really suited to traveling around town right now. "ALPHONSE ELRIC, STEPHANIE BROWN, EDWARD ELRIC, GREED, DAY SIXTY-FOUR, TRAVELLING NORTH-WEST" is written on the wall, and beneath it "DEAR FORMER RESIDENT, WE ARE FRIENDS, PLEASE DO NOT FEEL YOU NEED TO HIDE FROM US. CONTACT LELRIC". On a wall easily visible immediately upon entering, is a somewhat roughly drawn map in blue ink showing houses 26, 27, 32, 36, 38, 85, 86, 91, 92, 98, 99, 100, 102, and 103, the convenience store, the chapel, and the school and athletic shed. 99 is marked with an "X" and labeled "You are here". The chapel is labeled "UNSAFE, DO NOT STAY HERE OVERNIGHT". The school is labeled "School. Food available in cafeteria; DO NOT STAY HERE OVERNIGHT." The shed is labeled "Shed". The convenience store is labeled "Convenience store. Food available; DO NOT STAY HERE OVERNIGHT". Next to the map is "Contact @CaptSteveRogers for details."

Note: Kanan's abilities will be further limited as you have suggested. It is fine to keep the lightsaber's base as long as they are non-operational.
