Applications are closed permanently. Thank you to everyone who has applied over the years! Before applying for a character, make sure you've read the rules and FAQ. You should also refer to the application guide to see what we're looking for in our applications. You may apply for one character per application cycle and three characters total. Please put your character's name and canon in the subject line of your application comment. Applications must be posted directly to this post and cannot be links. We will screen your application if you request it of us after we review it. Application challenges are allowed, but someone who did not place a reserve challenge cannot challenge a reserved application. Once reservations expire, an application challenge can only be placed before we process the character application of the applicant you would like to challenge. In the event of us nearing our application cap and having more applications than slots, we will attempt to choose the most well-written applications. First-time applicants will be processed first, then applications for second characters, and finally applications for third characters. We may allow more applications to be submitted than we have slots for in the name of greater selection. We will clarify in our response if an application is not being allowed into the game because of the cap or because of issues with the application not meeting the standards of the game. REVISION REQUEST
We would like to see an expansion in the personality section to delve deeper into Adelina's weaknesses as a character, as currently, the personality section seems mostly focused on the development of her virtues.
Please reply to this comment with your revisions within three days or your slot will be forfeit.
Re: REVISION REQUEST
To begin with, Adelina can be fairly manipulative when it benefits her. When she was a child, she managed to stop her sister from leaving her by playing to her emotions, even though she knew staying in the castle with her isn’t what her sister wanted. Though she comes to regret that selfishness, this manipulative behavior continues, manifesting in different ways. When she’s trapped with a dragon, she pretends not to hate the creature, even acting friendly towards it at times, so she can wait for an opportunity to kill it and escape.
She also has a tendency to act high and mighty towards others if they display behavior that she finds objectionable, or even if she’s in a bad mood. At one point in canon, shortly after her sister falls ill, another character is trying to offer her advice. When she loses her temper, she wonders aloud what he would know, since he’s only an apprentice and a servant in the castle. She has a very low tolerance for things like incompetence or cowardice, and can act condescending and rude towards people who possess those traits.
This ties into the fact that it’s fairly easy to anger her. She may do well at appearing calm at most times, but it isn’t difficult for her to be irritated by any behavior that reminds her of the way she used to act. She’s automatically too critical and strict with these behaviors when she sees them in others, and can be snotty to anyone who possesses these traits. In addition, due to her upbringing, it’s fairly easy to make her upset by being improper or insulting her on the basis of her nobility. While she can be humble, she’s been raised to expect a high level of respect from others in regards to her title and position in society, and that doesn’t fade away overnight.
Due to the kind of world she grew up in, it can be hard to place her trust in things such as compromise or understanding when serious conflicts arise. While she has a strong understanding of diplomacy, due to her past of being reticent, she’s hesitant to halt and try to find middle ground in extreme situations involving others. She has a deep seated fear of not acting immediately, assuming that makes her a coward or unmotivated. This can lead to her acting on impulse and without regard to others.
ACCEPTED
The house that presumably once stood nearby has long since collapsed. The storage shed, however, remains. It's not that large, but it will fit six or eight people. Not comfortably, mind you, but they'll fit. There's a large blank black board on the wall that looks sort of like a chalkboard except without any space for chalk. There are also a few empty wooden shelves.
