Applications are closed permanently. Thank you to everyone who has applied over the years! Before applying for a character, make sure you've read the rules and FAQ. You should also refer to the application guide to see what we're looking for in our applications. You may apply for one character per application cycle and three characters total. Please put your character's name and canon in the subject line of your application comment. Applications must be posted directly to this post and cannot be links. We will screen your application if you request it of us after we review it. Application challenges are allowed, but someone who did not place a reserve challenge cannot challenge a reserved application. Once reservations expire, an application challenge can only be placed before we process the character application of the applicant you would like to challenge. In the event of us nearing our application cap and having more applications than slots, we will attempt to choose the most well-written applications. First-time applicants will be processed first, then applications for second characters, and finally applications for third characters. We may allow more applications to be submitted than we have slots for in the name of greater selection. We will clarify in our response if an application is not being allowed into the game because of the cap or because of issues with the application not meeting the standards of the game. viktor nikiforov • yuri on ice (reserved)
On the surface, he is a skater, choreographer, and eventually coach to Yuuri Katsuki. Beyond that, he’s won five consecutive World Championships, and a litany of other medals and competitions. He’s the talk of the town and the world in the realm of figure skating, with his dashing looks, charming demeanor and beautiful routines. He’s been on the scene since he was a young adult and he’s always surprising the crowd with daring new sets.
But beneath that, Viktor is a very normal twenty-something year old. Blessed with amazing looks and a smooth voice, Viktor makes flirting look easy. Whether or not he’s always flirting is a different question, but when he does, he does it effortlessly. Even though he’s as charming as they come, it doesn’t seem like Viktor has a laundry list of lovers. Rather, it seems like Viktor enjoys the basic things in life, like flirting and good looks and skating. Getting to know people on such a deep and intimate level seems like a rarity, but Viktor is definitely curious by nature.
Which is probably why not many people see beyond the air-headed and charming side of Viktor. His stage-face is a true part of his personality, but he’s much deeper than people give him credit for. Sure, he’s forgetful and spontaneous and a bit on the quirky side, but he’s much more complicated. He can be deeply serious when he needs to be, whether it’s on the ice or in his personal affairs. He cares about his small circle of friends deeply, with a zeal that not many other possess.
While he’s competitive by nature, he strives to encourage all those around him to do their best, and he applauds when they excel. He has a definite soft spot for coaching the younger generation, and while an amazing coach, he almost resembles a doting parent.
It’s hard to imagine Viktor being cruel or mean. Sometimes it may come off that way, if he is faced with a situation he just doesn’t know how to solve. Emotions are difficult things and his sometimes brutal honesty can be taken as needless (such as when he says he’ll resign as Yuuri’s coach if he doesn’t win as a form of hard-handed encouragement for Yuuri).
But despite that rarity, he seems to be the type of person that approaches each situation with a smile and poise, even if he isn’t entirely sure what the solution is. He would rather resort to puzzling through something and looking for the best solution than cutting corners or being cruel.
All in all, Viktor is a good guy with a good heart. Sometimes the way he shows it are unconventional, spontaneous and personal-space invasive, but he always means well. He wants all those around him to succeed and to be happy, and he enjoys the simple things in life (like his beloved dog and Instagram). It’s hard to imagine a more charming person than Viktor.
Flavor Abilities: Probably nothing here!
Suitability: Viktor, being from Russia and loving the ice and everything about it, will at least do well in terms of the climate. Sure, it’s nowhere close to as cold as he’s used to, but he’s fairly adaptable. What he lacks in experience he makes up with desire and determination. He tries to make the best of most situations, so it would be hard to imagine that Viktor wouldn’t press on for a solution and try to help others out as things progress.
The “unique” aspects of this world, however, may prove as a struggle, and he may be pushed out of his comfort zones. It’ll be interesting to see how he’ll adapt to coping with and handling situations he’s never encountered before!

REVISION REQUEST
We would like to see a bit more expansion upon Viktor's flaws in the personality section, as currently, it's mostly focused on his positive traits. Additionally, we request another sample set in Snowblind's setting, as well as a small revision to the suitability section, so that we have a clearer idea as to how Viktor will react to Norfinbury's darker aspects. The information given in these sections is somewhat vague and does not provide much insight as to the development that could be expected of Viktor in a situation like this.
Please reply to this comment with your revisions within three days or your slot will be forfeit.
not a problem!!
Many words can be said about the jack of all trades, figure skater Viktor Nikiforov.
On the surface, he is a skater, choreographer, and eventually coach to Yuuri Katsuki. Beyond that, he’s won five consecutive World Championships, and a litany of other medals and competitions. It’s hard to imagine Viktor being too cruel or mean. Sometimes it may come off that way, if he is faced with a situation he just doesn’t know how to solve. Emotions are difficult things and his sometimes brutal honesty can be taken as needless. This can result in him saying things a bit too bluntly or insensitively, or just creating an awkward situation. The best example is when he says he’ll resign as Yuuri’s coach if he doesn’t win, as a form of hard-handed encouragement for Yuuri. While laced with good intentions, Viktor lacked zero tact in approaching the situation. Which makes sense, because he likely does not have too many runs in like this. It's further complicated by the fact that Viktor doesn't read people very well.
While he seems to always want to help someone, he isn't the best at empathy and seeing through to people's true thoughts and feelings. Sometimes it's because of pesky language barriers, but it seems to be a deeper issue. Since Viktor has always thought about the ice, his game, and the expectations of others, he didn't really need to develop a great deal of "social awareness." Which is probably why he doesn't seem the most sensitive in certain situations, and why he doesn't always have the perfectly worded response. He goes by his own emotions - what he thinks and feels - rather than the social norm. He engulfs his emotions entirely - his love of the game, of his friends, of Makkachin especially. When he's sad, he's devastatingly sad or worried, rushing off on a plane to check on his dog. When he's happy, he says what's on his mind, like spewing off romantic proposals in the midst of a champion.
Still, it's a big flaw he needs to work on, being tactful and thinking through his words before they come out of his mouth, because choosing the wrong word and using the wrong tone can damage, and sometimes break, a relationship.
But despite that slight quirk, he seems to be the type of person that approaches each situation with a smile and poise, even if he isn’t entirely sure what the solution is. He would rather resort to puzzling through something and looking for the best solution than cutting corners or being cruel.

The “unique” aspects of this world, however, may prove as a struggle, and he may be pushed out of his comfort zones. For example, since Viktor is very used to embracing whatever emotion is flowing through him at that moment, he may be prone to small bursts of hysteria and anxiety. He hasn't ever been in a situation quite like this, where he's pushed to his limit and forced to struggle through for food and sanity. It's going to be huge adjustment, since most of his life has been focused on a singular sport, and ice skating skills don't transfer to survival skills all that well.
The struggle is going to be very real for quite awhile as he tries to learn how to adapt in this frigid land - especially with his mind constantly playing tricks on him, which may cause even more self-doubt and hysteria.
new sample!
[ it's cold. it's cold and he's been wandering around with this 'companion' of his for awhile. they haven't stopped for food and every attempt for pleasant conversation has been shut down. he isn't used to this. he's used to cheering fans and encouraging - while curt - coaches. he's used to yuuri's optimism and passion. he isn't used to not feeling his face, his fingers. he isn't used to the near-isolation this trek has been so far. he isn't used to things being this dark. he can barely see and the snowstorm isn't making it much better. the network has been confusing, too, with all these names and voices he doesn't recognize. the accents are strange, too.
so by the time they finally get to some form of cabin, somewhere slightly warmer, it's a huge relief. viktor tries to strike up conversation again, but there's a heaviness in the air that he finally picks up on. maybe now isn't the best time for trying to get to know this guy? even small talk?
it's a surprise when his traveling "buddy" mentions getting supplies in a couple of hours. ]
But weren't we just out there? [ he isn't upset but it sounds almost... childish. he sounds confused, surprised. he whips his head to the side, peering in the dim light of the cabin. ] There's really nothing here? That's not convenient... [ it's more so to himself, as if he can't quite believe that. he rubs his hands together, trying to warm them up. he feels like his chest is tightening, like he's closing off to the world. but he doesn't want to. he wants to try and find a solution.
so he just turns back to the tablet. it didn't take him that long to figure that out - thankfully - what with his generation's obsession with instagram. so he just pours over it again, clicking here and there. ]
Does anyone have any extra cookies they could spare? [ because that makes total sense to broadcast to the world. he clearly hasn't realized how grave a situation this is yet. ]
ACCEPTED
This house seems very ordinary--the first floor has a kitchen, bathroom with only a toilet and sink, living room, and dining room, while the second floor has a master bedroom, second bedroom that seems set up as a guest bedroom, and a second bathroom that includes a shower. Many porcelain dolls have been put up in nice places around the house. They all face a wall. "ALPHONSE ELRIC, STEPH BROWN, MAMI TOMOE, FREYA CRESCENT, EDWARD ELRIC, DAY THIRTY, TRAVELLING NORTH." has been carved into one of the walls.
