Applications are closed permanently. Thank you to everyone who has applied over the years! Before applying for a character, make sure you've read the rules and FAQ. You should also refer to the application guide to see what we're looking for in our applications. You may apply for one character per application cycle and three characters total. Please put your character's name and canon in the subject line of your application comment. Applications must be posted directly to this post and cannot be links. We will screen your application if you request it of us after we review it. Application challenges are allowed, but someone who did not place a reserve challenge cannot challenge a reserved application. Once reservations expire, an application challenge can only be placed before we process the character application of the applicant you would like to challenge. In the event of us nearing our application cap and having more applications than slots, we will attempt to choose the most well-written applications. First-time applicants will be processed first, then applications for second characters, and finally applications for third characters. We may allow more applications to be submitted than we have slots for in the name of greater selection. We will clarify in our response if an application is not being allowed into the game because of the cap or because of issues with the application not meeting the standards of the game. Davesprite has been trained since a ridiculously young age in the art of swordfighting by his brother, with a side helping of personal experience via Sburb. Though not as talented as Bro, he is reasonably skilled in self-defense, whether via full sword or broken half-blade. The flashstep speedy hopping around part of the training is completely nullified in Snowblind, though.

Sprites are weird. As a result of being prototyped together with a dead crow and other weird sprite stuff, Davesprite is orange, has a pair of wings, a tail instead of legs, and a hole through his chest for a sword. He won't have one with him when he arrives in Norfinbury, but this hole can accommodate any long, thin object so long as it does not exceed the width of a standard katana. He can make crow sounds and has inherited some bird instincts. Additionally, weird sprite stuff means his blood is yellow and slightly luminescent, and it is implied that his tears would be yellow as well.

Being a sprite naturally imparts Davesprite with a ton of knowledge (though not everything) about Sburb, particularly in regards to Dave's quest and the Land of Heat and Clockwork. Though he has a natural instinct to share this info through riddles and vague hints, the inclination isn't so strong that he can't ignore it for the sake of being straightforward. This information is completely useless outside the game.

Being a sprite also imparts the ability to fly. In Snowblind, the ability is nerfed so that he only hovers a couple inches off the ground. He moves at walking speed (no more than running if he pushes himself), and a flap of his wings lifts him no higher than a jump would. All of this expends the same amount of energy as it would for a person with legs. (Okay'd on the FAQ here.) This ability is based in being a sprite, and not part bird; he kept on going even when he temporarily lost a wing in canon, though the injury was still debilitating health-wise. (Of course, in Norfinbury he won't get the wing back if he loses it again.)

Davesprite is capable of watermarking the sky with images of his own face. This can be directed at a specific person, so that only they see it regardless of who else is in their vicinity. For sake of limits I'm going to say he needs to know where the would-be viewer is, and that they're useless for marking his own location—they're just stupid images in the sky, too high and vaguely placed to pinpoint an origin. They're temporary.
Suitability: Getting stuck in another world full of snow, monsters, and people from other universes is going to be pretty weird, but Davesprite is remarkably chill about weird stuff happening in canon. It will hardly be the first time this kind of thing happened. The monsters in Norfinbury are decidedly more dangerous, but via warning or personal mistakes he'll learn that lesson well. (Not that he'll be attacking anything without a sword handy.) The cold will be a bit harder to deal with—he hails from Texas and his tail will need something to keep warm—but this can be adapted to as well. At least he won't need encouragement to stay in out of the deathly cold at night. Having to store away the food he finds won't be that weird either, honestly, after having grown up in a home where the fridge was full of swords and the microwave full of puppets. (Bro was a weird, shitty guardian.)
The nature of Norfinbury is going to make him have to deal with people, though. This may do him good, as it will expose him to those who won't judge him based on another version of himself, and perhaps help him realize he can be appreciated for helping others. Alternately, if he keeps trying to be reclusive and avoidant, it won't be long until he figures out why that's not very productive. The exposure effects might push at his issues (isolation, depression, or paranoia could easily bring them up) and force him to deal with them as others notice the shift in his behavior.
As far as canonmates go, Jade is here, and her canon point is from a timeline where Davesprite died early into the meteor trip. This might also do him good or prompt him on the way of dealing with other issues, since she (presumably) missed him. (Just a note: This is speculation, and I have zero intent to force any particular thread direction with the Jade player. Stuff will happen how it happens!)

Note: Also, a question! Since I wound up reapping, will Davesprite still experience his original planned death loss when this was just a hiatus, or am I free to forego that since reapps usually don't have losses?

The only entrance to this building is through a trap door that opens into a large morgue. There are two wide walls for body drawers and multiple cremation rooms. Leaving the morgue and going upstairs reveals a large structure of marble and winding hallways, the walls lined with small square plaques. This is a columbarium, and each plaque represents a dead person. The years vary, but an examination reveals that the last year accounted for is 2050.
That's not the most common plaque date, though. The most common, with the top three floors filled up, is "UNKNOWN". The building is ten floors in total. This is a revival area; you can stay in the columbarium, but you cannot stay in the morgue, and it seals up at night accordingly.
