Canon: Final Fantasy XIV
Age: 32
Gender: Male
Canon Point: Right before The Aery
Background Link: Boom

Inventory:
-Drachen Mail (however without the back/shoulder spikes and arm/leg blades)
-The Eye of Nidhogg (An actual dragon's eye that was ripped from the dreadwyrm Nidhogg over 1000 years ago. It's a magical item/body part that grants the chosen azure dragoon half of nidhogg's strength BUT of course in this it's powerless and is just a glowing disembodied dragon's eye that Estinien will just be carrying around lmao.)
-A satchel of some sort (Look man, Estinien just pulls the eye out from behind his back and puts it back there all the time, I imagine he carries it IN SOMETHING and doesn't just shove it into his butt, but due to the fact SE likely didn't care to fuss with his model to put some bag on him, I'm just assuming he has one).

Personality:
Estinien hails from the Holy See of Ishgard, which is a nation filled with people as cold as the winter that has engulfed it. With the nation suffering a thousand year war of extinction against sentient dragons, there has been little reason for Ishgardians to be hopeful, happy, or warm. Not only to outsiders, but even to each other. Estinien encompasses this very well, and his is a story that tends to be pretty typical for Ishgardians; especially for those who find themselves training to become Dragoons. Having suffered his hometown being razed to the ground by Nidhogg and his horde twenty years ago, and thus enduring what horrors that bore with it, he ended up growing into a very distant and cold person.

Ishgardian society hardly helps admonish this, particularly when they often take in specifically orphans of war to be dragoons in order to weaponize their trauma against dragons. There's no therapy in Ishgard, only nurturing hatred and psychological scars to further give them an edge against their mortal foes, and Estinien was no exception to this. He, of course, didn't help himself either, and let his hatred and thirst for vengeance fuel him through the years to eventually become the Azure Dragoon: the mightiest warrior of Ishgard so chosen by the Eye of Nidhogg.

The Eye of Nidhogg being the literal eye of their greatest foe: an ancient wyrm that has been laying siege on Ishgard for a thousand years. His eye had been plucked from his head at the beginning of the war. Thus becoming a national treasure, but also one of Ishgard's greatest war assets, due to the advantage it gave them by wielding half his power, as well as the Azure Dragoon being linked with his emotions/thoughts/etc. (The more you know!)

However, at the start, Estinien was a bit of a lone wolf, he was taken in by the previous Azure Dragoon after his hometown was destroyed. He was tending to his family's laughably small flock of sheep at the time, thus he was spared the fate the rest of the villages suffered, and was the sole survivor due to nothing short of luck. Alberic, his adopted father, then trained him from an early age in the ways of the dragoon. Helping him foster his skill, and while he tried to gainsay Estinien's obsession with getting vengeance, Estinien still stayed the course. However, as Estinien remarks far later in story, it was through Alberic's admonishment and others he grew close to, that his obsession didn't completely consume him. Just, mostly did.

In his time in the temple knights, before he became the Azure Dragoon, he was seen as a surly, dedicated soldier who favored battle and training than he did social interaction. He made no friends for a good while within it, and the only friend he did make was more because they pursued him than the other way around. Even after that, he didn't seek friendships, nor did he make any more till the events of Heavensward. Perhaps because he saw most socializing as unnecessary distractions to his true goal—one that may very well cost him his life. So such relationships weren't exactly important to him. They didn't help him in his pursuit for vengeance, so they were of little value to him.

When the Warrior of Light first meets Estinien (assuming they did the dragoon storyline), he is a fugitive of Ishgard because he's taken the Eye of Nidhogg from the church, when it's not supposed to leave. Ever. Estinien, while loyal to Ishgard, still does things his way, even if it might guarantee him some repercussions. As it turns out, he was not simply taking the eye for the sake of it, but he had sensed that Nidhogg was awakening after a twenty year nap (he had to sleep off his wounds that Alberic had given him back in Ferndale) and aimed to draw Nidhogg's attention away from Ishgard.

He had hoped to use himself as bait, so that he might do battle with the great wyrm, and thus have the chance to slay him where Ishgard might not suffer the battle. Needless to say, Estinien has some good intentions, but he is extremely reckless in them, and has little self preservation if it means it might guarantee him his vengeance, and also Ishgard's safety.

However, as the dragoon storyline progressed, Nidhogg had shared with Estinien what had happened in Ferndale, and how because of Alberic's inability to slay Nidhogg when he had the chance (due to his bond with Nidhogg through the eye, thus being overwhelmed with Nidhogg's emotions and nearly being taken over because of it) it lead to Ferndale's destruction. This was not pleasant news for the vengeance starved Estinien, who then took his rage and set it upon Alberic. In his moment of manipulated weakness, he called upon Nidhogg for his power so that he may slay his adoptive father, he became no more than a thrall to Nidhogg's and his own rage.

The WoL was having none of it though, and through a travailing battle, Estinien was defeated, and the essence of Nidhogg banished from him. He retreated from the scene quickly after that. However, this whole conflict between Alberic and Estinine never gets remarked upon again, and so we as players have no idea if Estinien forgave Alberic, or if he is still mad at him for his inability to save his small village. Thanks SE, you're a gem. I go with the latter, seeing as Estinien is pretty bullheaded about this stuff when it concerns his family.

Even with that conclusion, Estinien still carries the Eye, and the Holy See seems fine to let him be; after all he is their finest champion and he is indeed using the Eye for their benefit. So, it would seem even his fugitive charges have been dropped. Honestly, by the time Heavensward rolls around, it would appears the Holy See is just accepting of Estinien's Do What He Wants attitude. They probably just learned to accept it, particularly when he tended to spurn any invitation to political events he was expected to go to. So much they just stopped bothering to invite him. There is no changing Estinien for the most part, he is stubborn and set in his ways. That is, unless something specifically thought provoking challenges him in ways he cannot deny.

During the events of Heavensward, such an event occurred, however. With the threat of Nidhogg and his hoard making an assault on Ishgard, Estinien grouped up with the Warrior of Light and Alphinaud in an attempt to contact the heretic leader Iceheart: their aim was to parley with the dragons through her connections. Estinien knew that if Nidhogg aimed a full assault on Ishgard, he would likely be the victory of such a battle. With such a reality weighing on him, he was willing to go along, because if the parley failed, then he could likely down Nidhogg with the warrior of light's aid and they would conveniently already be there. This, of course, didn't stop him from sassing Ysayle despite her willingness to help them, and bickering beliefs with her all along the way. Because he's kind of a petty child, even when his nation is in danger.

Through their travels, and through more and more piling evidence pointing at the fact that maybe the Holy See's ways of how events transpired a thousand years ago were not as factual as they would have their people believed, Estinien started to question his beliefs. His resolve started to chip a bit, and he was becoming more willing to accept that his faith was flawed—but his loyalty was till to Ishgard, even if the church has sewn lies into their faith and teachings. The people of Ishgard was who he would protect, to who he was loyal. Not the church, which says a lot about Estinien. While a man of faith, he had little for the church itself, and he actually knew well how flawed the men of Ishgard were (once making a comment that if every man's thought was made known, that Ishgard would not last a bell), but that did not mean they deserved to be damned to death by dragon's fire.

Not only did his beliefs change with his traveling, so too did his demeanor in ways: he opened up, even playfully teased Alphinaud (in likeness to that of a teenage boy teasing their little brother for having feelings), and made friendships. Even with his disputes with Ysayle, he still eventually forged some respect for her, seeing her as he put it "a worthy woman". However, even with his camaraderie with the others, his true goal remained ever present and unwavering. Even when he did kill Nidhogg, after learning the truth behind the motivations of the Dragonsong war, he felt little joy in accomplishing his life-long goal. It was a bittersweet victory, but it served its purpose to protect Ishgard from its would-be destruction.

Ultimately, beyond vengeance, duty is the most important thing to Estinien. His dedication to such was greatly shown when he was possessed by Nidhogg's eyes (long story, but basically both eyes were found, Estinien held both like a smarty, and got his body jacked by dragon satan and went MIA for a good long while). Nidhogg waged an assault on Ishgard, using Estinien's body as a vessel, but through the combined effort of Hraesvelgr (Nidhogg's brood brother and mortal sympathizer) and the WoL, Nidhogg was defeated, though scarcely dead. Estinien was able to regain control of himself long enough to subdue Nidhogg and beg for the WoL to kill him—thus Nidhogg would be truly defeated with his sacrifice. His shounen sacrifice got denied, but regardless it showed just how willing he was to let himself die for the sake of Ishgard.

All in all, Estinien is duty-bound, aggressive, and rude, but a good dude under it all. He may undermine authority if it would serve his duty better, or be better for the people, even if it means it might get him in trouble (he usually gets out of it anyways). He is highly a chaotic good type of character, where he will be heroic and do the good thing, but entirely under his terms and any naysayers be damned. He carries himself as very prickly and with little patience, but he does have a good nature about him under it all, he just isn't good with socializing (or likes it very much). Nevertheless, Estinien still has the potential to be far worse than he is, and can teeter a bit in alignment depending on the influence of those around him. He can be rash, and quick to anger, and absolutely rude, but he means to do well, just in his own way.

Flavor Abilities:
Due to being an elezen Estinien naturally has better hearing and sight than normal people, this will of course be nerfed to pretty much the best sight/hearing that is humanly possible. Which is still in short supply compared to what Elezen are used to, which will likely leave him feeling a bit disoriented for a while.

Other than that, Estinien is well trained in combat, and has been training for twenty years to be the perfect dragon killing machine. He is very, very strong because of this, and would likely match the physique of Olympiads of his similar body type. He is skilled with polearms, and is herald the most skill dragoon in all of Ishgard, so he is pretty built all around, between his upper body for lancing, and his lower body for jumping.

SPEAKING OF JUMPING, dragoons are taught to train their legs so that they can jump—and I mean JUMP. They use this to jump into the air high enough to land upon a dragon that is FLYING. So they can jump HELLA HIGH and HELLA FAR. Estinien actually defaults to jumping for dramatic entrances and exits, it seems like his primary means of travel outside of the typical teleporting tbh...

THIS OF COURSE WILL BE NERFED to him only being able to jump as high and as far as humanly possible (and with the proper build up, like a running start and what not that would be required for a normal human). Which I believe the record long jump was about 10 meters, and the highest vertical was 68 inches (5ft, 8 inches).

He's also very well balanced and could probably give a lot of parkour champs a run for their money. He's trained to be extremely flexible fighting in the air with dragons, running along their backs while they are in mid-flight, bouncing between them while attacking and dodging fang and claw and FIRE/ICE/LIGHTNING. He is extremely agile, and so he'll retain those sorts of skills in terms of balance, flexibility, and reflex.

Suitability:
Estinien comes from a icy hellhole, filled with dragons and other monsters to just add to the hellish winter that has shrouded his country. He is very well versed in survival skills, and knows how to deal with the unforgiving cold. He also doesn't fear monsters, and will likely try to (with obvious failure) take them down, or defend others from them. He will likely try to unearth the reason they've all been brought here, especially since he has important stuff to do back home, and he is determined if nothing else.

Also it'll be fun to play him so nerfed, when he's used to being such an OP defender of Ishgard with half the power of a great wyrm (which are immortal god-like creatures made of aether aka MAGIC) backing him.

Character Information

Name: Hange Zoe
Canon: Attack on Titan/Shingeki no Kyojin
Age: Unknown, but likely late 20s or early 30s.
Gender: OKAY SO this is a slightly complicated question. In canon (anime subtitles and equivalent live-action character notwithstanding) Hange is referred to with gender-neutral pronouns and never anything else. Word of God states that Hange's gender is whatever the fans want, and the creator has actively pursued the use of gender-neutral terms in translations. Rather than default to "she", I'm making the decision to use gender-neutral they/them pronouns for this character. Technically headcanon, but fully sanctioned/encouraged by canon.
Canon Point: Chapter 64, after being injured by the MP.
Background Link: Here (only up to the Uprising Arc)
Inventory: Hange is wearing this outfit, minus the jacket, and has a spare pair of glasses (the goggle-style version they're seen wearing here).

Personality:
On the surface, Hange is a friendly, outgoing, happy-go-lucky sort of person. They seem eternally (almost unnaturally) optimistic, despite the fact that they live in a pretty awful situation: a world where humans are penned in by giant walls and roving cannibalistic monsters called Titans just sort of eat people whenever they venture outside. Or whenever the Titans get inside. You know, whenever. Humanity has decided to fight back a bit by forming the Survey Corps, an elite group of soldiers who go on expeditions beyond the walls in order to learn more about their enemies and perhaps to overcome them and take back the world. It should go without saying that this is dangerous business, and people die a lot. Hange has been a member of the Survey Corps for at least six years, and yet, even in all of this death and hopelessness, they've managed to hold onto a sense of almost child-like wonder and glee. It's sort of creepy sometimes.

Hange is generally approachable, kind to people by default, and easily excited. They tend to encourage others, complimenting them on their successes and commiserating with them on their failures. They can be a bit over-dramatic at times, but it's hard to get Hange down; even in the worst of situations, they tend to crack wise or put on a show of being unworried and hopeful, even if that's no longer true. In the midst of panic, Hange often wears a smile, and has been known to lie in order to protect others from knowing how bad the situation really is, or simply to hide their own feelings of anger and hopelessness ("there was a cockroach, that's all!"). After being insulted, they'll either shoot back with a quip of their own or ignore it entirely. The positivity is strong in this one, as is the excitement, which can go overboard at times, even bordering on unsettling.

Hange loves to talk about that which they find interesting, and at one point even spends an entire night telling one of the other characters in-depth information- that he already knew. Even ignoring whether or not their audience is comfortable with the subject matter, Hange will go into great detail about things like their research, or their plans, or their theories. The basic unspoken rule is "don't get Hange started". Unfortunately, all of this enthusiasm is kind of geared toward a somewhat unconventional topic: the monstrous Titans that humanity fights.

By their own admission, Hange used to hate the Titans as much as anyone else, but that changed one day during battle (while Hange was literally kicking the head off a smaller Titan) when they realized how bizarrely light the monsters were for being giants. This observation gradually gave rise to fascination, and today it's more like obsession. Hange is smart already, but greedy for further knowledge, especially where Titans are concerned. They take great personal risks (and sometimes risk the lives of others, even if unintentionally) to find out as much as possible. It's said that a great deal of humanity's Titan knowledge is thanks to Hange and their "experiments", usually performed on captured Titans. Despite the fact that they restrain and essentially dissect these creatures, Hange treats them with a level of reverence and awe, going to the trouble of naming them (in elaborate naming ceremonies, during which they often go into graphic detail about historical cannibals). Hange claims to feel sympathy, even empathy, for the Titans, screaming along with the creatures even while they stab them in the eyes for science, and spending much more time than anyone else would in attempts to communicate. Much in the same way they treat humans, Hange seems reluctant to hurt the Titans needlessly, and whether it's faked or not, they appear remorseful for having to cause them undue pain. In many cases, Hange seems more upset about what they're doing than the Titans are. A case of "this hurts me more than it hurts you".

But you will notice that Hange does all of this anyway. Despite their apparent "sympathy" for the creatures, Hange still goes to great lengths to capture, violently restrain, and essentially torture the Titans in the name of science and the furthering of humanity's (or at least Hange's) knowledge. This is a hint at the other side of Hange's personality, but it certainly goes further than that. Behind the smiles and friendly encouragement of allies, Hange has the capacity to be ruthless and downright terrifying.

Whether it's to defend their comrades, gain knowledge for humanity's sake, or even get revenge for someone else, Hange is perfectly capable of doing some very, very awful things. At different points in the story, Hange has: threatened to throw someone off of a very high (50 meter) wall in order to extract information, tortured a man by removing his fingernails and teeth (all before having even asked a question) in order to "protect humanity" (and get revenge), and very nearly mutilating two people for slandering fallen allies (they only changed their mind because the two people in question were probably coerced). Hange will do what they think is necessary, regardless of how horrifying. Though their usual enemy is Titankind, Hange will kill humans if they threaten the lives of people Hange cares about, or if they threaten the survival of humanity in some way. And that includes by witholding information that could, even potentially, help humanity's cause.

Despite their insistence that it bothers them terribly to do so, Hange does appear to take some kind of pleasure from all of this violence. At the very least, they make an admitted effort to "get better" at it, and the man Hange tortures at one point screams that Hange is clearly enjoying it. It's perhaps worth noting that hurting humans seems to bother Hange less than hurting captive Titans. It's unclear whether or not Hange is a secret sadist hiding behind an out-there personality, or if they're actually a good person who's just willing to do bad things. (I tend to lean toward a combination of both.) Either way, this ability to switch almost instantly between the two, between kooky but friendly scientist and scary monster, makes Hange a potentially creepy customer indeed. Not that Hange isn't sort of creepy already, what with their gleeful proclamations about their intentions toward Titans ("I'm going to be the one to devour you, now") and their tendency to get way too into it when describing horrible things.

Some other things to note:

In general Hange disapproves of people who could help, but won't. They just can't understand the mindset of anyone who would willingly refuse to contribute their talents to something as important as the survival of humans or all of humanity.

Also, Hange is very smart. As possibly the only scientist in the Survey Corps, Hange is tasked with coming up with elaborate plans in order to capture and hold Titans for research. Hange's also in charge of a squadron of Survey Corps soldiers, and leads them in battle. While under Hange's command, they didn't seem to lose many members. Frequently, Hange is tasked by the Survey Corps commander to come up with plans for particularly sticky operations. Basically, plotting and planning is their Thing. Also Titans, but you know. Additionally, in another world, Hange probably could've been a detective; at one point in the story they deduce that a murdered man was tortured (and who was responsible) just by looking over the crime scene and shaking the hand of the killer. They've also shown some talent in predicting the actions of enemies (although it should be noted that Hange usually comes up with several backup plans, so it's more likely that they cover all scenarios rather than hit on the correct one every time).

And another thing: Hange is patently reckless, but usually skilled enough to make it work. For example, when fighting or capturing TItans, Hange tends to act as their own bait, allowing the monsters to get ridiculously close before making a move. They haven't died yet, but they've come close many times. They have an assistant in their homeworld (Moblit, god bless him) whose job is mostly to make sure Hange doesn't get themself killed. Even with him around, Hange probably only survives on a combination of luck and quick reflexes. The reflexes (necessary for fighting Titans in general, so Hange clearly has them) are handy in most situations, but Hange has failed to make saving throws from time to time, and to be quite honest should probably be dead five times over by now.

In summary, Hange is an obsessive, sort of creepy scientist who above all desires knowledge and will go to absurd lengths to obtain it. They're friendly and extroverted, but also potentially cruel and violent. Stay on Hange's good side and things will be pleasant if weird. Get on Hange's bad side, and not so much.

Flavor Abilities: Hange is very capable in combat, with the ability to maneuver and think in three dimensions during very fast-paced situations. They also seem hard to kill, but that's certainly due to luck (and total disregard for their own injuries) rather than any preternatural healing. All of Hange's capabilities are limited to those of normal humans, albeit highly trained ones.

Suitability: Hange is used to living in a dangerous world where survival is not guaranteed from day to day (or even minute to minute, depending on the situation). Though a known risk-taker, Hange has managed to survive for at least six years all while taking on missions with a ridiculously high mortality rate. In short, they are fully capable of survival in extreme conditions, being clever and having quick reflexes, though usually the conditions don't include bitter cold and snow. The only time when Hange might be in trouble is when it comes to monsters; being utterly fascinated by the monsters in their home world, Hange has a tendency to get way too close (or allow the monsters to do the same) in the name of observation and research. This could potentially end badly.

Aymeric de Borel | Final Fantasy XIV

[personal profile] heiresy 2016-07-08 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
Player Information

Name: Oliver
Age: 25
Contact Info: horsechiffon on plurk, uunperson on skype
Other Characters: N/A

Character Information

Name: Aymeric de Borel
Canon: Final Fantasy XIV
Age: 32
Gender: Male
Canon Point: End of 3.33 (most recent as of this app round)
Background Link: http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Aymeric_de_Borel
Inventory: Small bottle of sweet syrup. He is wearing what is pictured in his wiki. He should have his coat, tunic, pants, boots, sash, and ornamental shoulder guards.

Personality: Aymeric is a well liked military leader and politician known for his pragmatism and unusual level-headedness in a society of fanatics and ignorant bourgeois.

He is the Lord Commander of his city-state’s military. Because there has been a holy war raging for a thousand years in Ishgard’s religious oligarchy, his position there lends him enormous power and influence. Through his many accomplishments, he has risen through the ranks in spite of the social stigma against him.

He is the (poorly kept) secret bastard son of the Church’s archbishop, whose role is more akin to a pope-king. Although he is confident in himself, he is constantly surprised how the noble class includes him into their ranks despite his status as a bastard child. In fact, others' kindness always seems to pleasantly surprise him.

He is known as kind, but practical, humble, but competitive. He is a very keen fellow, paying attention to the people, details, and situations surrounding him. He admires strength, courage, and sacrifice for the common good. He is loyal to his country, his soldiers, and his people. When his closest, long time friend posed imminent threat to the city, he was willing to make the sacrifice of killing him.

Although he holds the highest office and has access to the finest foods and luxury, he turns it all down because he knows that his men cannot have these things. He allows himself one simple thing: a drop of birch syrup for his morning tea. In turn, his soldiers respect him immensely and their morale is often salvaged by his choices.

He will at first come off as very stern and guarded, but polite. It is possible to earn his favor and friendship, which he expresses warmly and freely. He is very honest about his emotions, but does not let them hold precedence over logic and the bigger picture. He does not hold grudges easily because he has an open mind, a willingness to understand complex situations, and the ability to restructure his understanding of everything.

He is religious, as is typical for his people, but he also approaches his faith pragmatically. He has read the scriptures closely, finding discrepencies in how his countrymen act in their fervor and what is actually outlines. Though he will solemnly make sacrifices and take risks, he does so under calculation. He will not endanger the lives of his people recklessly where others typically would. He views each life as precious and equal to his own, willingly going into combat when needed.

Flavor Abilities: Equivalent to best human hearing and eyesight due to his species. He spent a number of years in what is essentially the marines. Due to his height (6'5), musculature (combat with sword and bow), and over a decade of training specifically to kill literal dragons, he is a fairly tough individual.

For more than five years his country has been in an ice age, so he is probably as used to the cold as any tundra-dwelling person.

Suitability: Aymeric is highly suitable to this environment. He has plenty of experience in frozen wastes, working in a team against impossibly powerful monsters, and creating order from destructive disorder. He is an intelligent people-person, and will seek out others to create a defensive network.

Good evening, friends and commiserates. As I understand it, we are not quite a unified force. Ere long, we will all be torn to shreds if we cannot become organized. Pray hear me out, tomorrow morning I will come by with my ledger to speak with each of you. Uninterested parties: please respond regardless. If there are any census takers, I would appreciate a letter.

[He hopes that it is clear that there's no avoiding him. He seems tenacious.]

Character Information

Name: James Wilson
Canon: House M.D.
Age: 41
Gender: Male
Canon Point: End of season 5 episode 4
Background Link: Here. In the "Series" section, I'm pulling Wilson from season 5 right after he and House reconcile and Wilson returns to the hospital.

Inventory: He's wearing this, so he's coming to Norfinbury with some dress clothes and his doctor labcoat. In his pockets, he has: his Princeton-Plainsboro ID badge, two pens, a penlight, his prescription pad, his wallet, his cellphone, and his house/car keys.

Personality: At first glance, Wilson is possibly the most caring, kind, selfless individual on the planet. He's an oncologist, which means he deals pretty much exclusively with cancer patients, and he has a reputation for his patients thanking him after he tells them they are dying. Wilson tries extra hard to be gentle and loving, and thus he has amazing bedside manner and seems to always know the exact right thing to say to someone. That said, his bleeding heart doesn't come without a price. Though he genuinely is as caring and kind as he seems, there's also a lot of darkness and sadness buried under it. In a lot of ways, Wilson is the very antithesis of his best friend Greg House, but they also aren't all that different. Wilson and House's friendship is pretty integral to Wilson's characterization, but I'll get into that later.

Wilson cares a lot about other people (whether or not they deserve his care), often at his own expense. He derives his sense of self worth from his ability to help others, which means he often goes far, far beyond any realistic expectations for his kindness. He has donated money, personal time, blood, and even organs to his patients when they were in need. In the rare occasion where he isn't willing to help out or is for whatever reason unable to, he takes on a tremendous amount of guilt and responsibility. Even though he already goes above and beyond to take care of others, because his expectations for himself are so high, he still doesn't think all that much of himself. Intellectually, he does understand that his "bare minimum" is everyone else's "overkill" but he has a difficult time applying that logic to himself. If someone comments on his knack for human connection and his kindness, he tends to wave it away as if he's not doing anything special. He comes off as quite humble because of this, but really, he just doesn't think that highly of himself.

Because of his higher-than-average empathy and his willingness to run himself into the ground to take care of people, he spends a lot of time wrestling with his need to help and his own happiness. He hasn't yet figured out how to balance the two. Instead, he's either 100% selfless and ends up burning himself out, being taken advantage of, or resenting others for not returning the compassion; or, he takes a stab at trying to put his needs before others and ends up racked with guilt and unable to fully appreciate his chance for happiness. Likewise, he also has trouble finding the balance between tough love and enabling. Wilson has a difficult time employing tough love because he generally believes that people should make their own choices and be in charge of their own lives, even if they don't make the best decisions for themselves. When his beliefs, ideals, thoughts, etc. are in opposition of someone else's, Wilson tends to relent too easily so as to avoid upsetting the other person. This leads to him keeping his opinion quiet and bottling up his feelings until he does something rash out of resentment.

This is all especially relevant when it comes to Wilson's relationship with House. Even though House tends to treat Wilson pretty badly, Wilson still considers House to be his best friend because he's the only person that really gets Wilson. It's also worth noting that Wilson's canonpoint is right after he tries to distance himself from House's bad influence after the death of Wilson's girlfriend, but he soon realizes that the distance doesn't help him to cope with the loss. In his lowest moments, Wilson tries to blame House for being the root of his problems, but really, House is usually just a scapegoat. Despite most of their interactions frustrating and upsetting him, Wilson still has a lot of fun with their relationship. Their conversations are nothing if not interesting, they share some niche interests (monster truuuucks), and they play a lot of dumb games and pranks on each other that keep Wilson's life a little more exciting. Messing around with House gives him a good outlet to get away from the stress and drain of his job, even if it's only temporary and may ultimately make things worse in the long run.

House also doesn't baby Wilson and doesn't feel compelled to treat him with kindness just because he's kind to others. In a lot of ways, this frustrates Wilson, but it's also refreshing to have someone around with whom he can be sarcastic and blunt. He feels comfortable with House because he doesn't have to censor himself. He can be his naturally sassy and "fed up with everything" self.

All in all, Wilson is a good guy with a lot of shit going on under the surface. To him, his best is never good enough, and he readily takes responsibility for others even when there's no reason that he should.

Flavor Abilities: None. Wilson's just a regular guy.

Suitability: Survival horror snowhell will definitely be pulling Wilson out of his element, but he'll have a leg up with House being able to catch him up to speed. Wilson is able to keep a level head even in the worst situations, so once he gets over the initial shock of waking up in Norfinbury, he'll quickly bounce back as long as he has some kind of goal to keep his mind busy. As long as he's moving forward and doing something productive, he'll be able to bury the panic and helplessness he feels about being torn away from his home. I imagine that he'll join up with whatever House is currently up to at first, and once he gets the hang of the situation, he'll work with the other citizens to search for a way home. It's also worth noting that Wilson will try to believe that they have just been kidnapped and are playing some kind of strange and cruel game (point being that he believes this situation is only temporary), but his depression will likely make it more and more difficult to believe in a way out. Even still, he'll do what needs to be done to help the other residents, even if just to get his mind off of things.

Also, because of his canonpoint, Wilson will start off on awkward terms with House. From his point of view, they're just starting to rekindle their friendship and Wilson's still a touch skeptical as to whether or not this is a good idea. Plus, unsurprisingly, he'll want to avoid getting lumped in with House in Norfinbury. He doesn't want to just be "House's friend" because that comes with a whole set of assumptions he doesn't want to deal with.

Name: The Cat
Canon: Tamora Pierce's Tortall Series
Age: Infinite
Gender: Indeterminate/Often Male
Canon Point: End of Lioness Rampant
Background Link: Here
Inventory: his own self

Personality:
The creature sometimes known as Pounce, despite being a constellation (whatever that means) is truly and utterly a cat. He is lazy, preferring to let others do things for him that he could just as well do for himself. This makes it harder than it might be for humans to notice his abnormality – unless he has a specific need, he eats the food that humans give him and goes through doors when they’re open. It takes some time living with him to realize that closed doors, even locked doors mean nothing to him. This is not a symptom of selfishness. He acts for the benefit of others on many occasions, and even inconveniences himself to take care of what constellations stay in the sky when there’s a need. He is simply a lazy cat, whose instinct and personality tell him to conserve energy for when he truly needs it.

Like a cat, he is a master manipulator. He’s good at figuring out who he can butter up with affection and who will respond better to directness. This explains most of his seemingly secretive behavior. Most people will react poorly to a talking cat, so he doesn’t talk. Instead he acts like a normal stupid cat and begs scraps or demands affection in such a way that the average person will oblige. As Beka tells Farmer, he isn’t shy about letting people know what exactly he is. He prefers to use the information strategically in order to get what he wants.

Unlike other immortals, the Cat lives his life much like a mortal would. His primary role seems to be accompanying heroes on their adventures and lending them some help (but not too much, because that would be meddling). He does this because he loves to. He loves watching the changes that mortal life undergoes, meeting great heroes, making friends and living in the moment. He takes care of Beka as well as his other friends because he loves them. If he didn’t, he wouldn’t have come into Beka’s life in time to comfort her after her mother’s death. He is a good friend, the kind who comforts his friends as best he can and takes good care of them when they need it. He can be very protective of those he considers under his care.

The Cat is very proud and dignified. He doesn’t like being kissed or carried around like a baby, and will even go to the trouble of finding homeless street kittens for Beka’s friends to play with instead of his noble self. Cats do not like to be wrong, and the Cat takes some care so that he never seems to make a mistake. He prefers to be angry rather than scared and coy rather than confused. He furthers this illusion by choosing not to speak up or to hint vaguely when he knows something that his companions don’t. Although he wouldn’t let it show, it bothers him how often he isn’t able to help his friends because it’s against the rules. There’s a surprising variety of things he can do to help while still behaving like a cat, but there is so much more he’s capable of that he can’t do.

He is rarely serious and often teasing. Although he will scold Beka or comfort her when things get serious, he seems to live mostly to tweak her nose. He likes to magic himself out of her rooms when she would prefer he stay home, and often makes her want to laugh when she really shouldn’t. In this sense he is someone mothering. He jokes about having raised Beka, but it is true that he has taught her many things. He protects her when she needs it, and fails to protect her when she might learn from it. He worries after her and acts as a chaperone, even a matchmaker at times. The Cat makes a very good friend, and a decent parent too.

Flavor Abilities:
Convenience telekinesis: opening/closing doors, the ability to use his paws like fingers for tablet use, and the ability to open food wrappers without completely destroying whatever's inside.

The ability to talk: Sometimes his cat noises correspond with human noises, such as laughter. Sometimes his cat noises inexplicably translate themselves in the hearer’s mind as human words. Sometimes he speaks directly mind to mind. In all of these cases he is able to choose who understands him and who does not.

Suitability:
The Cat is well able to handle himself in difficult times. He would, as is his habit, conceal the nature of his existence from any humans - especially those likely to not believe him or freak out. First he will find humans, and choose one to stick with. Then, as time goes on and it becomes common knowledge that he is intelligent, he will help contribute to investigations and searches. Interpersonal drama like we often have in Norfinbury is not of any interest to him and he will pretty much stay out of it all.

Test Drive Meme

I like the premise of the network post on the test drive, so I'm copying and expanding on it:

[ The camera feed shows black fur covering half the screen, pressed directly into the lens. The rest is a joggling view of ceiling and wall, somewhere in the school. The Cat, who has yet to be given a name by any of the mortals here, is carrying the tablet in his mouth. The backpack he was given is slung around his neck, but he doesn't want to miss any important notices the tablet might have to offer. He likes to keep it close at hand - or mouth. A mechanical voice speaks first: ]

Turn left, then take the second doorway on the right.

[ He huffs, blowing air out of his nose with no small measure of annoyance. This is not the kind of message he was waiting for, and it's becoming tiresome. He looks down at the screen, vivid purple eyes steady. ]

Stop that.

[ He scolds the device like he would an infant, not overly concerned if it can understand his words or not. It seems to be able to, but a lot of things are not as they seem here.

With some interest he notices that the camera is on and the device is transmitting. His whiskers twitch thoughtfully. The cat is out of the bag, if you'll forgive the pun. ]

I cannot be the only one experiencing this... annoyance. Has a way been found to make it stop?

Captain Steven Rogers || Marvel Cinematic Universe

Character Information

Name: Captain Steven Rogers
Canon: Marvel Cinematic Universe
Age: 31
Gender: Male
Canon Point: Captain America 3: Just prior to the ending
Background Link: Steven Rogers
Inventory: Faded blue raglan tee shirt with darker sleeves, white tank top, blue jeans, brown leather belt, brown work boots, brown leather bomber jacket, vibranium shield, wrist watch, cell phone, leather wallet with his ID and some small bills in both US and Wakandan currency, set of keys

Personality:
Steven Rogers was born to a poor family in Brooklyn in 1918, physically small and weak and with constant and chronic health issues. Despite this, he developed a strong intolerance to injustice at an early age since he was the constant target of bullies. Finding bravery when he could barely protect himself, Steve never backed down from any fight, even one he could not win. These traits, coupled with a sensitivity that gave over into his love of art and a strong sense of patriotism, led him to becoming obsessive in his goal of joining the US Army once word reached the country of their entry into WWII. Selflessly putting the needs of his country first, and despite typically abhorring lies and liars, Steve falsified his medical records. This shows the start of his leadership and strategic abilities to analyze situations and objectively decide what the greater good might be and how best to act on it.

Bravery aside, Steve is also relatively shy and carries with him an upbringing from the 20s and 30s without the benefit of being able to live through nearly seventy years of American cultural and social revolutions. Though much of his awkwardness has been overcome with training, access to the internet and a few solid friendships with people raised in the twenty-first century, he also has proven to be extremely tolerant to current American life. Despite racism and sexism rampant while he was growing up, Steve has never shown intolerance towards teammates of other races nor has he ever criticized the ability of women on his team or in general.

Though typically displayed as a paragon of virtue, Steve is also young and still very human. He reacts to loss and hardship the way any young man might (getting angry, becoming depressed, attempting to drink away his sorrows), however, he does not allow depression or anger to get the best of his judgement. This is due to a combination of his past (dealing with his mother's death, his best friend Bucky's apparent death, and living through war itself) and a natural mental fortitude. Though he is a man out of time, a man out of his element, and also outwardly world-weary, he is able to push his inherent loneliness aside and even manages to command the respect of unlikely compatriots enough to form a team that more or less has come to accept his leadership at least part of the time.

Steve has always been incredibly intelligent, quick witted and a natural strategist. While the super soldier serum equipped him with super human abilities, his innate mental capabilities, his sense of right and wrong, and his emotional spectrum was what allowed the serum to work in the first place. Steve is a capable soldier. He accepts directives and can carry them out. He is able to think on his feet and would never ask any teammate to do something he himself would not do. This does not mean that he is a blind minion to those in authority. Steve Rogers has increasingly found himself at odds with the current Army and government structure. The downfall of SHIELD from the takeover by HYDRA with Project: Insight was just start of his growing disillusionment of what the country he had loved was becoming. At direct odds with the outwardly lazy and hedonistic inventor, Tony Stark, Steve realized that he had a very different idea of what protecting innocent people and the world in general might entail. He is a firm believer in freedom of choice and views the stronger government untrustworthy and oppressive. This puts him at odds with his patriotism and his loyalty, but he is able to see his break from the status quo as standing up for the injustice of institutional corruption. Steve puts his honor first and demands to have all of the facts before he makes critical decisions. When his choices are stripped away, he chooses twice to become what the media and country might consider to be a rogue agent.

This is where he leaves off at the end of the franchise as it currently is. Steve has accepted the role of protector of the world on his own terms, guided by his own set of moral rules. He is not the idealistic boy that he once was. He is not the loyal American soldier. But he is still a super hero.

Flavor Abilities:
Steve might not have his super human abilities any longer, but he is still an expert in hand to hand combat and his body is still likely very limber and agile, allowing him to be acrobatic. Steve is also an artist and can draw both cartoons and realistically.

Suitability:
Steve Rogers is nothing short of adaptable and tenacious. Though he may no longer have a healing factor, super hearing, super sight, super strength, or increased durability in this setting, his past shows that his physical ability plays absolutely no factor in his desire to persevere through hardship in order to do what's good, right, and personally moral. Steve has a mild personality and is able to find humor even in stressful situations and keep himself mentally focused and resilient to internal and external stress factors. This will enable him to maintain composure and still work even while subjected to the horrors of the game world.

The life of a nerd.
Inventory:
+Tan plaid button up shirt (short sleeves)
+Navy blue grandpa sweater
+White undershirt
+Khaki pants
+Brown loafers
+Cellphone (non-functioning)
+SHIELD Badge

Personality:
Even before his injury, Fitz was always a bit socially awkward. He's a scientist; science is his passion and his life and really only people that are involved in that life are the ones he can talk to easily and function around. Everyone else? He tends to make a fool out of himself at times, at least until he gets to know them better. He's always had trouble making conversation flow that doesn't involve him rambling about his latest project or experiment and sometimes he can forget that there are even other people around when he really gets caught up in an idea. It takes certain individuals to really understand him but, as of late, he's a lot more cautious of letting people in. Even those that he trusted before are looked at with a bit of wariness, Fitz well aware that most of them now see him as damaged goods even with the progress that he's made.

Despite his awkward nature, Fitz has a pretty bad temper. He can get riled up easily and when something goes against what he believes or knows? It sets him off and he refuses to accept it as truth until he has concrete evidence that it is true because he's stubborn to a fault. He's not one to let go of grudges easily and can, given the situation, turn to violence though it's really only happened once and that was in the face of the man that caused his accident in the first place. His temper has started to show itself more and more, especially when he's faced with a situation where people are making choices that he deems ignorant or out of line in general. He's far quicker to stand up for what he believes in rather than taking a back seat or going with the majority like he might have a couple years ago. He does not take kindly to people bad mouthing his friends and when it's a matter of friend against friend? He'll generally side with the one he's known longer or the situation that he believes in more strongly.

Because of the brain damage he suffered when he was trapped underwater, Fitz has a very hard time stringing things together anymore. Thoughts don't come as easily and he tends to stumble over what he's explaining and get frustrated when it's not coming out right. (Sure, this happened before, but it's even worse now. He loses words far easier and gets overly frustrated when this happens, making it even more difficult for him to verbally communicate.) It's made his social anxieties even worse and has brought on a bit of paranoia as well, considering he feels worthless and assumes that everyone else is thinking it as well. He's getting better but it's still taking time for him to really get his head back on straight. The young man is still smart, it just doesn't always seem that way because he can't get everything out like he use to and his hands don't exactly allow him to do the fine engineering work that he use to do. He's finding other ways to communicate and finding individuals that can assist him by doing what he can't in order to bring his creations to life but it's still frustrating and hard for him. He's made a lot of progress, despite all of the road blocks, and is a little more confident in himself--largely in part to the encouragement of people like Coulson and Skye.

The paranoia is also making him wary of even the people he's been working with for over a year now, as mentioned before, Fitz unable to figure out if they have faith in him still or if they've given up. The absence of his lab partner, Jemma Simmons, has also taken it's toll on Fitz and he's prone to hallucinations and talking to himself as well, though he's recently started to realize that he is, in fact, just imagining Simmons being there. The hallucinations are something that he's getting under control more and more but every now and then he can still be found talking to himself in an attempt to work a problem out. Trust, in general, does not come easy on Fitz's end though and he's generally rather stand-offish to new people until he gets a feel for them.

Fitz's faith in himself and his own abilities is slowly but surely coming back and he's getting better about letting people close but it's still a work in progress. Without a network of people he can rely on, he tends to fall back into the darker thoughts, the fears and the worries that haunted him for the first six months after his initial injury. Only time will tell if Fitz will be able to regain more of his abilities and confidence from before.

Clint Barton | Marvel 616 | Reserved

Player Information

Name: Flurry
Age: 24

Character Information

Name: Clint Barton (Hawkeye)
Canon: Marvel 616
Age: 30 something, comicsmumblegrumble
Gender: Male
Canon Point: Post-Hawkeye #22
Background Link: Here!
Inventory:
- a purple t-shirt and jeans, a belt, socks, no shoes
- his apartment keys
- a cell phone, which is a flip phone with a cracked screen
- his quiver, which is attached to his belt
- a purple hearing aid, made by Tony Stark

His bow and arrows will be confiscated!

Personality:

You know when you drop something on the floor, but you're too lazy to pick it up, so you sort of just stare at the object on the floor like it's betrayed you? That's Clint Barton's approach to life.

It's not that he's lazy, because he isn't. Clint is incredibly hard-working, particularly in his superhero life. That's mostly because he's not exactly super; he's a regular, ordinary guy, which means he doesn't have powers, which means he has to do a hell of a lot to keep up with the other Avengers. He can’t be lazy. He does as much as he can to stay on the same level as his teammates, to the point of being reckless. Physically, mentally, and emotionally, he can take a hell of a punch. It's in his nature to bounce right back and come back for more abuse, and he does, especially with his teammates. He ends up being the brunt of the joke a lot, and he’s kind of okay with that, for the most part. He can take it, as long as they can take some ribbing in return.

But that’s work. That’s his life with the Avengers and being a superhero. When it comes to his own issues, to his own insecurities and personal problems, it's easier to run away, to take a nap, and escape the problem. Procrastinate his troubles away. It usually works, too! For a while. Until it builds up too far and then he hates himself for letting it get that bad. Which happens a lot.

Clint has a terrible tendency to let things build up. Kate Bishop, his close friend and the Other Hawkeye (the better one), accuses him of running away from his problems, and it's true enough. His first instinct is to run and hide. He’s creative and quick enough to figure out how to do it, how to get out of any situation he’s in, but that’s not always the best option. Sometimes he needs to actually deal; sometimes needs someone to sit him down and tell him that he’s being an idiot and he needs to sort out his problems.

Clint’s casual attitude and devil-may-care front can both put people at ease and infuriate them. There’s a lot more underneath than just that, though. Clint is a passionate person, and he feels very strongly about what he believes in. He’s stupidly loyal (to a fault). He won’t kill, and he doesn’t like it when other people do it, either. He doesn’t believe in plans, just in getting out there and getting the job done as best as he can, and he’s incredibly invested in just about everything relating to people, from saving them to loving them. Clint can be pretty charming, too. The guy knows how to get people to talk to him, how to be the center of attention if he needs to be, and sometimes that involves unintentional flirting. Or intentionally. And then getting married to them after knowing them for two days. Here’s looking at you, Mockingbird. People make him impulsive. It’s sort of why he makes a good hero - he doesn’t think twice before going all in for a stranger he barely knows, even going so far as to stretch the law to its limits in order to protect a girl he just met.

So Clint gets attached to people easily, and then he gets himself into trouble trying to fix all of that person’s problems while steadfastly ignoring his own. This happens with Bobbi, with Jessica, and with Natasha, and the various other women he’s dated over the years. And those are just the important romantic relationships he’s had. His platonic relationships end up this way as well - he’s eager to jump in feet first to protect everybody else, and he ends up sort of screwing himself over in the end.

(He’s also a romantic. Not that his love life is anything more than a giant, flaming trainwreck.)

He's a good person, at his core. Sure, his start wasn’t exactly on the straight and narrow - he starts his vigilante life working with the Black Widow in order take down Iron Man, half because he was jealous of Iron Man being a hero and half because he got swept up in immediately falling in love with her. Clint intended to do good, to help people, but his attachment to Natasha meant he got sidetracked. He’s offered the chance to redeem himself later, and he immediately takes it, because Clint truly does want to do good. He looks up to Captain America, to all the heroism that the Avengers do, and he wants nothing more than to be able to see a bad thing happening and be able to fix it. He tries, damn hard. He offers himself up as a decoy to smoke out a mole so that the Navy Seals responsible for killing a high profile target won't have their families harmed in retribution. He buys an apartment building to stop a bunch of Russian mobsters from kicking the inhabitants out, and defends those inhabitants with his life. Clint doesn't always make the best decisions, but he does always actively work towards what he thinks is right.

Still, he can be a dick. He’s got a terrible self-deprecating sense of humor and sometimes, putting himself down isn’t enough - he’s been known to turn it on other people. If he thinks someone is out of line or is wrong about something, he’s blunt and upfront with his accusation, and he’s not super inclined to sugarcoat it. Furthermore, he also has issues with authority; he’s not one for respecting someone just because they’re an authority figure. Clint has issues with following orders, particularly because he thinks he’s better at giving them than receiving them. This often causes problems with the teams that he’s on. For as much as he respects Steve Rogers, Clint still argues quite a bit about how to run things, and while he won’t ever really have the influence enough to undermine Steve’s authority, it still causes friction here and there. He has a fierce need to be independent, and yet, even when he’s trying as hard as he can to be on his own, he still needs reassurance. He’s always still quietly trying to impress people, to prove he isn’t incompetent. He knows he doesn’t make great decisions sometimes, but he’s gotta do it on his own, without being a burden on other people. He admits as much to Tony Stark, when he’s trying to pull his life together: “I know it's a mess and it's half taped together and it's old and busted, but it's mine. And you gotta make that work, right? You gotta make your own stuff work out.”

Which he can, and often does. For as much as he drags his feet or gets made fun of, Clint is a pretty damn good superhero. He’s quick-witted, he’s good at thinking on his feet, and for as much as people give him crap about not being great at boosting team morale, he’s a good leader when he puts his mind to it. His whole run with the Thunderbolts, a group of reformed villains trying to be heroes, ended up not only honing the skills of all of the team members, but also enhancing their reputations, ending with most of the villains-turned-heroes as trusted allies of the Avengers. He pulls off missions successfully for SHIELD all the time, and he quite often saves other heroes’ butts on a regular basis, including Captain America on an occasion or two. It’s just his social life that suffers, mostly.

Flavor Abilities: Nothing, really. He’s a normal guy, for the most part. He is deaf, though - that's not really a flavor ability, it's still relevant. The hearing aid, also, just gives him his normal hearing back, which isn't superhuman or anything.

Suitability:
A big reason I want to bring in Clint specifically is because he’s completely opposite from Royce in the sense of how he relates to people. Clint is a superhero! He likes helping people, to the point where he’ll injure or sacrifice himself to do it. He’s friendly and a little bit more tech friendly, and a hell of a lot less paranoid, so getting him out there and talking to people will be much easier. He’s going to be one of those types that is the first on the scene when people are in trouble, and much more reasonable when it comes to working together, sharing supplies and actually making friends. It’ll help me balance out the CR I want with people who Royce wouldn’t necessarily go to!

As for Clint in the actual game, this’ll be interesting. He’s not exactly used to a place where there isn’t any sort of formal law or order. He’s going to be very against people killing people and will do whatever he can to help people avoid doing it, but he’s also not against breaking the rules in order to get things done, either. I’d like to see him struggle with finding his place in a town where he can be independent and sort of flounder a bit with that independence. Clint’s not incompetent and he can take care of himself, but it’s been awhile since he hasn’t had someone to take orders from.

Canon Point: During his international crime spree with Roadhog. Specifically after the Dorado heist.
Background Link:
Here you go!
Also have a super in-depth Overwatch story link.
Or a not so in-depth version.

Inventory:

-His clothes consisting of a pair of ratty patch covered shorts, a bombless chest harness, dirty fingerless glove, his leg bandages and one boot.
-Peg leg
-Robotic arm
-Canteen with milk tea and boba. Half sweet.
-Hip satchel containing a screwdriver, black nail polish, a detonator, a small lighter, pencil, and small notepad.

All his explosives were confiscated. His traps, his concussion mines, his frag launcher, any sweet cherry bombs that he totally would have in his satchel.

Personality:
If at first you don't succeed... Blow it up again!

Junkrat is a lot like the explosives that he loves so much. He has a very loud personality, he's messy, impatient and obnoxious. You'd think growing up the way he did would leave him a bit more jaded and it certainly does have effects on him that I will go into in a bit, but overall he's a pretty friendly and talkative bloke with a good sense of humor. It might be a tad twisted as far as humor goes, but it's all in good fun! You know the normal; stealing from kids, robbing an ice cream truck, blowing a few people up.

So he's a bit mad from the radiation in the Outback. He's smart where it counts, which is making bombs, mines, hand-made frag launchers and of course being the brilliant mind when it comes to planning heists. He's a self proclaimed genius who is very proud of his work or at least when someone else recognizes that fact. He's got kind of a cocky streak to him actually. A lot of his voice lines taunt other players if they don't manage to kill him. He'll even gloat over being able to kill his own bodyguard. It's quite reckless really, but there's his hint of madness again. This is a boy who will use his own mines to launch himself in the air after all. Another example would be blowing up the roof of a building and jumping in head first.

It's hard to just sit around knowing there's someone out there that needs to be blown up.

To say that Junkrat is just an explosives obsessed freak would be an understatement. It is a big part of what makes him tick though. They're more than just a simple passion or obsession, they're his love in life. Whether its enduring his multitude of bomb related puns, the look of pure joy as he listens to cherry bombs explode, or his mad cackling in game as he's firing off grenades; Getting to blow something up is one of the most important thing to him--after his own life and large amounts of money that is.

So we're delivering a bomb to scrap some bots and I'm getting paid for it. My kind of job!

Growing up in the Outback explains a lot about Junkrat's personality, moral values and motivations. He was lucky to be born after the first Omnic Crisis, but he did grow up in a society that was extremely unhappy with it's new robotic neighbors. He was too young at the time to fully understand it, but it would be the basis of his deep hatred for Omnics as he grew up. A lot of his motivations seem to stem from this hatred for robots and also the state of his irradiated home. He is shown happily taking the job in the comic because he got to blow up Omnics and get paid for it after all. Those who know their history know that they can't be trusted.

I beg your pardon, I consider myself a freedom fighter. A misunderstood one.

Back to his home however, growing up in an irradiated wasteland was hard. Blizzard does a good job of painting the Outback with a Mad Max sort of vibe. Learning how to survive is tough enough, but when it's a lawless cutthroat society it drives in the point early that you really can't trust anyone. It's kill or be killed and I'm sure Junkrat grew up seeing plenty of death. Whether it was from pissing off the wrong junker or just not being able to survive the harsh environment, it was normal. It's of little wonder that he's as twitchy as he is. His eyes constantly darting around suspiciously and he holds his hands in an anxious manner. I'm sure that was only made worse when he started being hunted for the secrets he found in the omnium. Growing up looking out for only yourself and then being hunted by bounty hunters is enough to make anyone paranoid.

Remember remember...what the heck was I saying again?

Blizzard might like to write off all his mad behavior as a result of just the radiation, but it's clear it does have some effects on him. The most noticeable one is his horrendous memory problems. The kid couldn't remember crucial information about the job he took in the comic 'Going Legit'. He had to be reminded twice that there were supposed to be hostages, once about doing the job quietly, and after all their problems he forgot that it was his idea in the first place to take the job and try going legit. Sure being exposed to so much radiation growing up did help tip him more into the unstable zone, whether or not he would have memory problems without the radiation will never be seen. It's supposedly what turned a love for explosives into an obsession, but I'd wager that's more on his memory problems again. It's about the only thing he can focus on and remember well after all. Of course he'd be obsessed with that.

Ahh. Remember that time we stole the crown jewels? All hail King Jamison Fawkes the First! And, ehm, Duke Roadhog? What is your name anyways?

Lastly you can't talk about Junkrat without bringing up Roadhog, his personal body guard he hired for 50/50 split of his treasure. As with all his other voice lines and interactions he is just as friendly and talkative as the rest of them. It's just a tad bit more personal. He really, really does like his body guard and it wouldn't be that far of a stretch to even say that he thinks of Roadhog as a very close friend. Perhaps his only friend. It's definitely all one sided though. Most of their in game chatter is met with him being told to shut up. It's a bit sad really, but that's how it is!

Flavor Abilities:
If for some reason he manages to catch bits of himself on fire, the singed tips of his hair seem to stay lit for way longer than a normal person and also not just burn off all his hair?? Unlike the game and comic though the tips of his hair are not always on fire and never go out. Like it'd burn for maybe 5-10 minutes tops. If Blizzard can use radiation as an excuse I can too. This boy is irradiated!!

Suitability:

What do you get when you take an explosive obsessed Aussie and stick him in Norfinbury? A bomb pop!

All joking aside while Junkrat may be entirely unsuited to this sort of cold he's nothing if not a survivor. As a junker he's fully used to scrounging around for anything useful and his constant need to keep going will keep him on the move. He isn't one to trust people easily which might hinder him a bit when exposure effects come into play. Otherwise the kid loves to hear himself talk and I'm sure will happily talk anyone's ear off who is unfortunate enough to give him the time of day.

Besides generally surviving and collecting junk his main focus will be getting his grubby little hands on anything that could be used to make bombs. He'll be going crazy (more so than normal) without his usual fix and until he can arm himself he'll be a bit paranoid. It'll be interesting to see if he can help any with the mystery that is Norfinbury as he's certainly not dumb by any means. His memory problems on the other hand...

Action:

It's long past lock down and Junkrat is still rummaging through the house he decided to bunker down in. It's an old habit from his days as a junker that's been revived since he's been brought here and if nothing else it was something to do to pass the time. Of course there is only so much to rummage through before it gets repetitive.

With an exasperated growl he kicks over a table, a satisfied giggle at the small distraction before going to pace around the kitchen. Five steps one way, three steps back all the while biting anxiously at his nail. He hated being locked in like this. He had made the mistake of forgetting to seek shelter once before so it wasn't like he didn't know why it was important. He just hated it all the same. He was too restless to sleep, nothing to tinker on, and currently the network was pretty boring. He was going mad with boredom!

Ha. Going mad. That was pretty good! The thought was enough to get him to stop his pacing and to have a nice laugh. Surely he wasn't the only one in snowhell who was bored tonight. I mean who sleeps?? Cogs were already starting to turn in his head as an idea was starting to form. So what if the network was boring tonight, maybe he could lit it up a little...

He had a few empty bottles he didn't mind wasting, some toilet cleaner he had picked up a while ago and he did just find some tin foil. It wouldn't be his usual sort of bombs, but it would make a bang! What a shame it wouldn't go up in flames for that extra sort of flair. He'd have to go looking for something else to make that one work. Ah well, at least Roadhog wasn't here to try to stop him. He'd probably get on him for wasting perfectly good water bottles. So what if a few sacrifices had to be made for his amusement! It was definitely going to be worth it.

---
Network:

[The video feed starts with a shaking view of a trashed kitchen. The scene is kinda dark given the time, but the tablet helps illuminate what's important. In the middle of the kitchen is a few bottles of varying shape and sizes. A few water bottles and an empty cleaner bottle, both plastic from the looks of it. In the see through bottles, while hard to tell there is something balled up in the bottom of it.

The view shifts as the tablet is turned to face it's owner and Junkrat gives a small little wave to the camera. Half a second later and who once could have been called somewhat acceptable (although dirty and balding) goes to satan himself with a nasty grin and gleeful chuckle.]

I thought you blokes might be as bored as I am tonight, so I decided to put on a little show for you all. [Another giggle.] And of course what could be better than setting off a few homemade bombs, eh?

Well. Kinda. S'not at all a real bomb. Just you wait, I'll put something else together. Later. Yeah give me a bit...

[There was a small pause as Junkrat's gaze drifted away from the camera and his expression zoned out a little before snapping back up to look at his 'audience'.]

What was I saying again...? Oh. Roight. [The view flips back to the bottles in the middle of the kitchen as he walked over to them and grabs something off camera.] You just add a bit of this here... like so. Close 'em up and shake!

[It wasn't the best view in the world, quite frankly a lot of it was aimed at the ground when he was mixing everything together. The sound of excited giggles and mismatched shuffling was enough for anyone to guess he had did what he needed to do. Eventually the view cleared up again, this time with no shakes. Just a nice steady view of the bottles on the ground and an increasingly further away giggling in the background.

It didn't take long for the bottles to start to expand as the pressure inside them began to build and one by one they all burst with a loud bang. Whatever liquid concoction that had been inside of them spraying out onto the kitchen as the bottles went flying.]

Feh. I'd reckon I'd give that a 2.

Test drive! Not enough comments on them tho.

Character Information

Name: Samuel "Sam" Yao
Canon: Zombies, Run!
Age: Early 20's
Gender: Male
Canon Point: The end of season one, at the time of the explosion. I'm also going to be adding in the events of the spin-off Zombies, Run! Couch to 5K app since it takes place during season one between missions one and two.
Background Link: Trailer | Zombies, Run! Site | Season 1 Missions | Couch to 5K Missions | Sam Wikia

Sam's Wikia only details the events in season 4, which is much further than I've personally reached and way after Sam's canon point. If you'd like me to write out the background section, I'd be happy to.

I also recorded the radio parts of mission 9 "A Voice in the Dark" where Sam retells his past and how he feels about the present. You can listen here.

Inventory:
Clothes
- An orange hoodie with a white undershirt underneath.
- Slim-fitting gray jeans that have small holes and tears on the legs.
- Ratty black and white Converse sneakers.
- Black boxer briefs, gray socks, and a white under tank.

Possessions
- Outdated black studio headphones with worn leather ear cups and a cord that's been bandaged in a few places with black electrical tape.
- His wallet which contains: his driver's license, his university ID, a picture of his family ( mother, father, himself, and his sister ), a debit card, and credit card.
-One Curly Wurly candy bar, unopened.

Personality:
On the surface, Sam is a ray of sunshine in a world that's gone very, very dark. He takes pride in being the person that people can come to for cheering up. His optimism and jokes accompany the runners on their headsets as they venture out into the unknown to collect supplies for Abel Township. Dr. Meyers has even commented that it's Sam who's the glue that holds the township together. Happy to talk on and on about his favorite media; he brings back a sense of normalcy for those he speaks to. When others give up, Sam is the one still holding out hope. He's not fond of silence and is eager to fill it up with silly ramblings or off-color jokes. Messy and goofy, he sometimes comes off as childish or even a little dumb. He's slow to anger and is just an overall friendly guy who knows most everyone in the township by name.

Sam is driven by a need to please. He was the underachiever of his family before the outbreak. His younger sister was the top of her class her first semester as a law student and his parents showered her with praise. Meanwhile, Sam was suffering through an engineer major that he hated and was on the verge of flunking out of. Having failed French previously, he knew how much it would upset his family once they found out. He longed to make his family proud, but never got the chance to tell them the truth about his studies or earn their praise before his parents were bitten. This regret and the lingering feeling of failure and guilt pushes Sam to take his job as Chief Operator very seriously.

Being the Chief Operator means that Sam accepts the responsibility of the safety of the runners on their runs. It's his job to do everything possible to make sure that they come home unbitten and alive. To him they aren't just runners, they're his friends and coworkers. Even though he's safe in his corrugated metal communications shack, there's a price that comes with his position. He is the first to know when a runner dies. He hears their attack, their screams, their last words. Often it happens in view of his cameras and he's powerless to do anything to help them. Despite all of that, he continues at his post. Unafraid of the emotional pain that he's certain to feel, he remains their eyes and ears.

Since the end of the world, Sam has to endure a lot of death. It's part of every day life, from his parents who he had to personally put down once bitten, to the two runners who die during the first season and all those before. "That's just the way the world is now." He knows that it's affecting him. He acknowledges that it might be making him a little crazy and there's just no returning to normal.

Rather than wallow in all that's been lost and all that will never be, Sam makes the choice everyday to keep looking forward and stay strong. He knows that others are counting on him to be that smile in the morning, the silly distraction during the day, and the shoulder they might need at night. When the previous Runner 5 Alice Dempsey was bitten during a run, he had been devastated and took two weeks to return to being an operator full time again. When Sam needed that time to grieve, the absence of his happy attitude was felt by everyone. Every important character expressed genuine concern and went out of their way to help him find closure after Alice's death.

He chooses to live for those who can't and keep going so that there may be a future for those who have survived. He holds onto the good parts of past so that it might be remembered. Though he tries to keep optimism, humor, and hope at the forefront, he's not delusional. Sam knows that things are bleak but also knows that dwelling on it doesn't help anything. When he's run out of things to ramble about, or if left alone with his thoughts for too long, melancholy introspection slips past the smiles and jokes. Rather than truly deal with those feelings, he pushes them away and returns to his normal disposition.

Sam lacks tact at times, is sometimes a little too naive and trusting, and can be a little slow to catch on. Sometimes it's hard for him to tell when he's being inappropriate. He lacks other skills that would make him more useful. Still, most everyone loves him. All he wants to do is help in a meaningful way and that earnest desire always comes through making him one of the most likable characters in the canon.

Flavor Abilities: None

Suitability: Coming from a zombie apocalypse, Sam is used to dire situations. It's my hope that in the game he can be that bit of sunshine that others can organize their selves around. He would be really interested in exploring and expanding maps and finding supplies. I'd like to see the paranoia aspects of Snowblind push the limits of his friendliness and optimism.

[ It's lockdown and Sam has unfortunately ended up alone. Facing the night and the strange noises on his own has left him anxious enough to reach out on his network to anyone who might listen. The light of the pad is the only thing that illuminates his face. ]

Never thought I'd say it, but I miss hot days without AC. I could tell you about hot, man. My metal shack back home--stuffed with hot radio equipment and tvs, no windows and no fans. Yeah. Boiling. I started to need to store my snacks in the cafeteria. Everything I'd bring in would melt! But oh, what I'd give to get just a few minutes back in that soupy mess now.

[ He pauses and turns his gaze away from the screen. ]

I suppose we all would like to get back to, well, anywhere but here. Ugh, I just. I just wish I knew how things turned out. I should have been there.

[ A shake of his head, Sam brushes those thoughts aside and the smile's back full force. ]

Anyway. What would you give an arm for from back home? Let's chat.

Character Information

Name: Mohinder Suresh
Canon: Heroes
Age: 33
Gender: Male
Canon Point: Season One, between Run! and Unexpected
Background Link: Here
Inventory: Silver thumb ring, middle of the road wrist watch, button down shirt, a pair of jeans, brown boots, thick tan coat with sherpa lining, contact lenses, brown wallet containing $30-50 American, his taxi driver's license, and a key to "Sylar's apartment" in Queens. He also has a brown satchel containing a pair of glasses, handiwipes, his passport and work visa, a small flashlight, his keys to his father's apartment, a hair tie, his laptop, a tourniquet, swabs and some empty vials in a black case, and contact lens solution and a case.

Personality: Mohinder is a professor and a geneticist from Chennai, India. He has a doctorate in parapsychology and use to teach evolutionary genetics at the University of Madras. He had always attempted to follow in his father's footsteps, trying to get recognition for his own work while building off of his own father's research into the evolution of human beings through genetic mutations that would allow them to access special powers or abilities. Mohinder and his dad had a very rocky relationship which seems to have stemmed from the death of his older sister. When Shanti got sick with an unknown virus, Mohinder was conceived to produce antibodies for her. Though he was born with those antibodies, it was too late to save Shanti. This caused his father's coldness towards him.

Despite Mohinder's clash with his father, who had run off to America to try and find evolved human beings to support his book sometime after Mohinder gained tenure at his university, he still defended him and his work. When he was told that his father died, Mohinder even went so far as to take a leave of absence from his teaching position, and went off to New York City to discover why his dad was killed and to unlock his father's code on the way to find more people with abilities. This shows how much Mohinder longed to be accepted by his father and forms the basis for later daddy issues he encounters in New York.

Mohinder is a born skeptic, as any good scientist ought to be. Though he does believe his father's theories about evolved humans and super powers, he needs to see them for himself, first hand. He is quick to dismiss other people at first that claim to have powers but can't or have trouble with reproducing them. Conversely, he is also extremely gullible and easy to dupe. Over and over again, Mohinder's want-it-to-be-true nature has gotten him into trouble. He rarely stops to think through certain situations and is caught up in the plots of others because he feels himself powerless to do anything else. Despite all of his book smarts, Mohinder rarely shows signs of having common sense.

Mohinder has an inflated sense of morality. Though he is sometimes forced to do things outside of his comfort zone, more often than not, he rebels when pushed too far even if that gets him injured. He tries to be heroic and though he is far from cowardly, he is very easy to spook. He can be annoyingly persistent at times and is willing to drop his entire life for causes he believes in with very little provocation.

That said, Mohinder finds it very hard to forgive people that have wronged him. Mohinder considers himself to be between worlds of atheism and religion (though it should be noted that the Hindu faith does not conflict with science as some monotheistic belief systems do and therefore, this edging towards atheism does not have to do with being a scientist). While he embraces the social idea he grew up with that states that a son must avenge a wronged family member, he also has difficulty with this cruel side of himself. Mohinder generally takes it upon himself to deal with his own problems as well, rather than reaching out to other people. This usually puts him into more danger than it's worth. He is a very focused and driven man, which can cause blind spots and sometimes strips him of true reason.

Though Mohinder has had long term relationships, and actively accepts romances, he has never been married and is childless. His research and work always comes first. Mohinder's greatest fear is failure. Since birth he's felt the guilt of failing since he had not been born in time to save his sister. He's failed to garner much attention from his father despite following him in his research. Stemming from this comes his fear of letting people down and helps explain his sometimes misplaced loyalty.

Character Information

Name: Vaughn
Canon: Tales from the Borderlands
Age: 27
Gender: M
Canon Point: Ep. 3, after Vallory's ambush
Background Link: Character wikia, game wiki
Inventory: 1 pair of weird enhanced math-glasses (nerfed to regular glasses), 1 totally awesome (not really) Atlasio watch, 1 bowtie that also plays music for some reason (probably nerfed to a regular bowtie), the clothes he's wearing

Personality:
"The list of things that might kill us keeps getting longer... I hadn't even thought about moonshots. Rakks, skags, bandits, dehydration, heat stroke, regular stroke, stroke stroke... whatever that is, that murder pile. The list just keeps getting longer... I've never felt so alive!"

Yeah, Vaughn's a bit of a weirdo. Virtually no one in Tales from the Borderlands could really pass as normal, but Vaughn's... quirky, to say the least. From getting ridiculously excited about finding an old (pardon me, vintage) watch-calculator, to idly poking a former coworker's dead body with a stick, to sudden outbursts of loudly-proclaimed confidence (as seen in the quote above), he's definitely a lot more than just the nerdy sidekick. The story is primarily about Rhys and Fiona, the two main characters, but it's also very interesting to see Vaughn go from an excitable but panicky and insecure accountant to a leader as he adapts to life on the unforgiving planet Pandora.

The game introduces him as Rhys's best friend, "the money man." He's babbling enthusiastically about the promotion Rhys is about to get (supposedly), how they're moving up in Hyperion's ranks, how he's going to buy a gun—one of the things about Vaughn that you learn early on is that he's very chatty. He talks when he's excited, when he's nervous, when he's totally grossed out, when he's pretty sure he's about to die (which is pretty often in a place like Pandora)... really, it's when he gets quiet that you know something's off. He also has a strange tendency to get really excited when he survives danger: in the scene the above quote comes from, after breathlessly recounting all the crazy things he and the others have lived through since arriving on Pandora, he starts screaming up at Helios (the Hyperion space station he and Rhys live and work on) that he's not afraid... only to be immediately spooked by the sound of Rhys receiving a call. So much for that.

Needless to say, Vaughn's kind of an insecure guy, at least for the first three episodes. You get the feeling that he's fully aware he's a nerd. He's pretty short, made worse by the fact that his posture is usually slouched forward, and yet when he and Rhys get separated from the girls on Pandora he takes his shirt off and ties it around his head, revealing that he's... surprisingly ripped. When questioned, he waves it off that he had an exercise bike put in his office. While it's possible he simply wanted to get in better shape, it also seems likely that his decision to try to bulk up may have been motivated by insecurity. He also tends to point out when he does something even mildly impressive, hoping to be acknowledged ("This is so cool, right? D-did you guys see me? I mean, how cool I was?"). A lot of this comes from comparing himself to Rhys, who's been the Cool Friend at least as far back as college. This isn't to say Rhys isn't himself a giant dork; the difference is that Rhys looks like he might be cool, whereas Vaughn's look pretty much screams "nerd." Back then, Vaughn was often left out of things (like parties) that Rhys had no trouble getting into. At one point in the game he actually approaches Rhys about this, afraid he might end up being left behind:
"Down here on Pandora, I've seen how amazing you are at all this stuff. I mean, hanging out with Vault Hunters, crazy Atlas technology, fighting insane mobsters... and—and you've just been playing it totally cool the whole time. So I—I guess... look... I'm not gonna get left out on the curb again, am I?"

He's a loyal friend, but his loyalty does come into question once early on when it's revealed that he went in on a deal to sell Rhys out. Vaughn vehemently denies that he would have gone through with the deal, claiming it was only to get Vasquez off of them. Whether Rhys believes him (and whether he forgives him) is dependent upon player choice, but it seems likely that he was telling the truth based on his past dedication to helping Rhys achieve his dream of running a company (which apparently involved some unsavory things—he makes an offhand comment about it "haunting his dreams"), and the fact that he doesn't show any sign of disloyalty throughout the rest of the game.

The chaos at the end of episode 3 marks a turning point: he's either absent or mostly absent depending on player choice for episode 4, and that's the last you see of the nervous and insecure Vaughn as he had been. When you meet him again in the final episode he's a new man: the leader of a large group of Hyperion refugees called the Children of Helios. As the only one among them with any actual experience surviving on Pandora, Vaughn quickly assumed the role. Deep down, he's still the chatty, friendly guy he's always been, but he finally seems confident in himself. It's some really satisfying character development, to say the least—a transformation, perhaps, into the kind of person he always wanted to be but was too weighed down by insecurity and a tendency to exist primarily in Rhys's shadow. The faithful number-crunching sidekick finally steps into the spotlight as a capable leader of a group of people who look to him for guidance in their new home in a dangerous land. It's really pretty heartwarming.
"Man, if it wasn't for the smell of this rotting monster carcass, this hug would be perfect."

Also, he really likes hugs.

Flavor Abilities: None!

Suitability: As mentioned, Vaughn's character development comes primarily in the form of being forced to go from a "Hyperion desk-jockey" to someone who's capable of surviving in an extremely dangerous place, and later to a leader of people who used to be just like him. While the canon point I've chosen is before his big transformation into a leader, he's still had plenty of time to adapt to life on Pandora, which is not entirely unlike Norfinbury (a little warmer, perhaps). He'll still be jumpy and prone to panic mode, but he's made enough progress to move past thinking he's going to die constantly, allowing him to be feasibly able to get by in a setting like this.

Character Information

Name: Michael J. Caboose
Canon: Red vs Blue
Age: Never specified, and hard to tell because Caboose. In his mid-to-late twenties?
Gender: Male
Canon Point: Post season 12
Background Link: Hey chicka bump bump
Inventory:

- Standard under-armour UNSC jumpsuit
- One dumb-looking space helmet in a rather fetching shade of blue (no other armour, just the shitty helmet)
- One assault rifle, modified so that when anyone pulls the trigger it makes a funny noise and shoots confetti. In canon, the original firing system is still present and just rendered inaccessible when firing manually - this won't be the case in Norfinbury. It'll basically be a fancy-looking water pistol, with no possible way of tinkering with it to revert it into a functioning weapon. Ever. It's 100% useless and always will be.
- The above contains an AI known as Freckles. With the gun in its neutered state, he's pretty useless, too. He can talk, though, so there's that.

Personality:

Okay, let's just get this out of the way: Caboose is stupid. Really, staggeringly, mind-bendingly stupid. He's so dumb that I should probably be putting it down as a flavour ability, because holy fucking christ this is some superhuman bullshit. He is not smart. At the start of the show this trait isn't so pronounced - yeah, he's kind of dumb, but not that much moreso than everyone else around him. After a series of incidents involving AIs dicking around in his brain, an extended length of time spent drinking gasoline and a long period of oxygen deprivation due to an armour malfunction? Yeah. We have ourselves a perfect storm of complete and utter dumbassery.

Not that Caboose himself recognises this. Sure, people call him stupid all the time. That doesn't mean they're right! They're obviously completely wrong about that. Just like when they say that he shouldn't bring home giant killer robots, or that the occasional teamkilling incident isn't a perfectly normal occurance, or when Church denies being his bestest best friend forever. People tend to say that Caboose is delusional, too, but, you know. He's pretty sure they're also wrong about that. Whatever it means.

Spoilers: nah, he's delusional as heckie. It's a common occurance for him to get distracted or zone out completely in the middle of a conversation, just because he's off in his own little world half the time. This is best illustrated by the glimpses we get into his mind throughout the series: not only does he get the personalities (and names) of the people he knows completely wrong, but he sees himself as a competent leader who is well-loved and highly respected. No, Caboose. Sorry, but no. He does briefly become the leader of the Blues at one point in canon, and it goes about as well as you'd expect: he has no idea what kind of orders he should be giving and spends most of his time getting his giant robot pal to try on silly hats before willingly giving up his leader position. Sure, leadership is nice in theory, but in practice? Boriiiing. Caboose is much more comfortable focusing on the smaller things in life than dealing with the big issues.

Still - these tendencies do at least help Caboose retain his generally-happy demeanour. It's not that he never gets sad or angry - those occurances are just very rare. Unless there is something drastically and unavoidably wrong taking up his attention, he can generally be found wandering about in a state of blithe contentment. If his friends are around (even friends who don't actually seem to like him very much), he's happy! Even if that friend is Tucker. Who is stupid and just awful, but still a friend.

Needless to say, Tucker isn't actually stupid or awful (any more so than the rest of Caboose's comrades, anyway). Caboose simply views him as a rival for the position of Church's best friend, which means that Tucker basically becomes a convenient springboard for me to talk about some of Caboose's negative traits. The first of these is that despite his generally easygoing nature, Caboose can be very clingy and jealous. He latches onto people he likes very quickly and intensely, and when this intensity isn't immediately returned he tends to overcompensate for it. If he asserts himself as Church's BFF (unlike Tucker, who is stupid and annoying and super wrong about Caboose's clinginess being creepy) enough, everyone will know it. And if enough people believe a thing, that makes it true! Right? Right, guys?

This ties in with his inability to accept blame for pretty much anything, ever. "Tucker did it" has become something of a catchphrase as Caboose tries to lie his way out of being held responsible for his mistakes - even when Tucker isn't anywhere in the vicinity. At one point Caboose throws a sticky grenade straight into a nearby wall instead of an enemy, and his immediate response is to claim that it isn't his fault because someone put a wall in his way. It's every bit as transparently childish as it sounds. That's the thing, though - Caboose himself is transparent and childish, and the constant avoidance of blame is motivated by his need to be liked and to line things up with how he views himself in his own head. Smart, competent people don't blow up their teammates with tanks or almost kill themselves with grenades, therefore: not Caboose's fault. It's just simple logic, try to keep up. Geez.

On the subject of transparency, that's one of the most marked differences between Caboose and the rest of the cast. He's actually pretty in tune with his own emotions and is usually unashamed of showing them: it isn't just a matter of him not being intelligent enough to conceal his feelings, he just genuinely doesn't feel the need to. If he's sad, he'll tell you so (loudly, obnoxiously, over and over). If he's happy, he'll try and make sure his friends get to share in it. If he's angry, he'll... uh, probably be working that off in very obvious and punchy ways. Why bother repressing it if you're excited or upset? That doesn't benefit anyone.

TL;DR - Caboose is almost a perfect pure cinnamon roll etc etc etc. Except the cinnamon roll probably has more braincells.

I'm also going to cover Freckles here really quickly for the sake of clarity - Freckles is an AI (formerly housed in a giant military robot, but now residing in Caboose's rifle). There isn't much to him, to be honest - while there are other AIs in the series that definitely qualify as people with fully-formed personalities, Freckles is more like a dog. An aggressive guard dog, to be more specific. He's very loyal to Caboose and can be a little trigger-happy (literally) when it comes to defending him, but the latter isn't exactly going to be an issue now that Caboose's rifle has been rendered useless. Whew. Caboose will still be thrilled to have him around, though! Everyone knows that metal is the very best friend material there is.

Flavor Abilities:

Caboose is strong. Like, really strong. "Gravity just increased tenfold and he didn't even notice" strong. That'll obviously be toned down to reasonable human levels, but still. HE STRONG. Incidentally, he only really reaches his full strength when he's angry - his rare fits of rage send him into a berserk state ever since his possession by an evil AI (thanks, Omega).

He's also bringing along his confetti gun complete with Freckles (hopefully!). Just reiterating that assuming this is allowed, he's not going to ever be able to use it for offensive purposes and neither is anyone else. Unless the anomalies are allergic to confetti. What a twist.

Suitability:

Er, well. Caboose is barely suited for anything, anywhere, ever. He's never going to understand any of Norfinbury's mysteries, or even recognise that there are mysteries. He's very accepting of weird shit going on around him and will remain happily oblivious to the fact that things in the town aren't as they should be. That includes the anomalies. He's pretty much guaranteed to try and make friends with the first one he comes across. Maybe all the ones he ever comes across.

Aside from that, though, he should deal pretty well with the game's other challenges! He can withstand a hell of a lot (physically and mentally, since there isn't much brain to get traumatised). He loves being around people, so isolation would take its toll in theory - but since he'd even believe his tablet assistant is a real person, he's unlikely to be too badly affected. Isn't that right, New Eye Shaped Friend Who Is Living Inside The Tablet? He's going to call you Whiskers.
