Character Information

Name: Terezi Pyrope
Canon: Homestuck
Age: 6 sweeps (13 years old)
Gender: F
Canon Point: Act 5 Act 2, specifically Dave: Answer Terezi
Background Link: let them tell you about homestuck because god knows I ain't gonna do it
Inventory: Nothing but her clothes and a double-headed troll caegar for sweet coin flips.

Personality: Let me tell you a story.

I was watching So You Think You Can Dance with my parents one night because they basically control the TV when I'm home and there wasn't really anything better on. It was at the very beginning of the season where everyone is trying out to be on the show and you get to see all the people who are actually really terrible embarrass themselves in front of the judges. This one guy comes on; he's something like eighteen, plays football, and awkward as fuck. He is the whitest fucking kid I have ever seen in my life. His specialty is hip hop.

So he gets up on stage, and it quickly becomes clear that the judges don't know what to make of him. I don't know what to make of him. I am halfway to being convinced that he's going to be terrible up there when he actually begins to perform -- and it turns out he's not half bad. The judges pass him on to the next round of try outs, and after they cut to commercial, I turned to my family and asked:

"Was he messing with us? Is he actually that weird, or did he intentionally play it up to throw everyone off?"

That's Terezi Pyrope.

Let me lay down some basics about this weirdo:

1) Terezi is the trollingest troll that ever trolled. She is one of the most successful of the Alternians when it comes to messing around with the kids (and other trolls, for that matter). She's great at getting into people's heads and finding out what pushes their buttons, and she will exploit it given a reason and half a chance. She's not usually not serious in her dealings with others; her interactions with others usually have an incredibly silly slant to them, as evidenced by pretty much everything she does in this memo and the pictures of kids from the 80s and 90s drawn over in MS Paint and slash fanart she sends Dave. She's flirty, mocking, and sometimes downright intimidating in her interactions with others, though her trolling rarely steps over into outright offensive or malicious territory -- what she does is more like friendly teasing for laughs. When she does cross those lines (like when she killed John in an alternate timeline and got an alternate Dave killed to prove a point), she genuinely feels pretty awful about it.

2) The reason why she's so great at trolling others is her skill in manipulation. Like mentioned before, Terezi is very observant and great at finding out what makes others tick. While she usually does this only to fuck around with people, back in her FLARPing days she would dismantle entire teams with nothing but politics and headgames, and occasionally she will arrange things so that she gets what she wants. The crowning example of this is probably when she lays down the law on Vriska: she first contacts a nigh-omniscient, incredibly powerful being known to her as Mr. Vanilla Milkshake (actually Doc Scratch) and tells him Vriska has been cheating in the games the two of them play and that she knows why. She then threatens to kill Vriska and plays on her addiction to consulting prophetic devices. Unfortunately for Vriska, this particular device is a magic cue ball she had stolen from Mr. Vanilla Milkshake, the very same thing she'd been using to cheat against him. Terezi tells him she has it, causing him to flip the fuck out and make it blow up in Vriska's face. Doc Scratch had not wanted anything to do with the trolls' feud, nor was it particularly difficult for Terezi to provoke the reactions she needed to make the scheme work.

3) Terezi is extremely interested in JUSTICE and ORCHESTRATING THE DEMISE OF THE WICKED. She possesses a strong set of morals and won't hurt people who don't deserve it. Back when she FLARPed, she imagined herself as part of a vigilante duo with Vriska devoted to taking down bad guys. When Vriska finally reveals herself as a HUGE BITCH, Terezi refuses to associate with her and to this day acts very coolly towards her (and secretly bitches about her to Dave like all the time). In the conversation where Vriska contacts her about violating their truce (the point of which she totally misunderstood), Terezi is very put out by the fact that her former friend is a gigantic liar and basically stepped all over her morals. Those who lie and murder are bad guys, and as an aspiring legislacerator she will punish bad guys to the fullest extent possible. That she stuff she did with Mr. Vanilla Milkshake to get him to blow up the cue ball? It was all to get vengeance on Vriska for hurting Tavros and Aradia. That whole "orchestrating the demise of the wicked" thing on her intro page isn't an exaggeration. She's Daredevil, Harvey Dent, and a bit of Batman all rolled up into one adorabloodthirsty, obnoxious, know-it-all package.

4) The above points lead into this one: her viciousness. Alternia is a Lord of the Flies death planet specifically for kids. There are no adults there; they've all left to go conquer the galaxy. Children are culturally encouraged to be assert their dominance and be brutal to each other, reinforced by a strict "hemospectrum" that determines caste by the color of blood. Terezi, for the most part, doesn't give a shit about the hemospectrum, and she's a relatively peaceful character, but that doesn't stop her from occasionally killing the hell out of her problems in order to solve them -- all it means is that she's got some self-control. The trolls blazed through their Sgrub session in a month because of how good they were at killing things. She attempted to murder Vriska as a child, killed an alternate timeline version of John, orchestrated a doomed timeline Dave in order to make a point, and finally succeeded in killing godtier Vriska in order stop her from leading a bullshittingly unfair boss back to the trolls' hideout. Her official introduction shows her hanging one of her plush toys after finding it guilty. She was Flarping partners with Vriska before their falling out; she'd take apart whole teams with nothing but politics and head games. Sure, she was doing it all in the name of justice, but that doesn't change the fact she was killing people for fun. Terezi's no stranger to death, and while she deeply regrets her actions with Dave and Vriska later, in her canon point she's still got a streak of morbid humor a mile wide.

I mean hell, she describes the Handmaiden, a figure of death throughout Alternian history, as "SUP3R FOXY."

5) Because of the way she perceives her world, Terezi is obsessed with tastes, smells, and colors, including that of other people's blood. Karkat's blood is a source of endless curiosity for her until she finally smells it under his skin, and the first thing she asks after Dave throws his body out the window is what his blood smells and tastes like. Where people tend to take their senses for granted, Terezi talks about hers all the time. Things are not simply red or brown, they are strong cherry cough syrup or chocolate. Even people are categorized this way, like Sollux being "appleberry blast" to her. When she draws things, she picks colors less by how things actually look and more by what colors smell or taste the best. She values her blindness and her ability to smell and taste because the traumatic event that maimed her led to her waking up early on Prospit, where she finally heard from her lusus. Learning how to use her senses differently was the first time she'd been able to interact with her monster mom. By troll standards, Terezi is an orphan, but she was finally able to make a connection with her lusus.

6) It is worth noting how surprisingly chill Terezi acts about a lot of things -- she's not all silliness and murder. When Karkat comes busting in and demanding to take control of the Red Team, she just throws her hands up and lets him. She doesn't fight him about it or plot and backstab over it like Vriska and Equius. She just wants to play the game. Although their home and all the rest of the other trolls in existence are dead and gone, she's still somewhat upbeat about things instead of being emotionally crushed under the awfulness of their situation. She's not even upset about being blind -- deep down inside, she prefers being this way. If she'd never lost her sight, her dreamself wouldn't have woken up, and then she never would have heard from her lusus until it was prototyped in the Medium. Instead of getting hissy and lashing out at things, Terezi tends to just roll with life's punches. If something does bother her, she'd rather hide it or downplay how much it affects her rather than wear it on her sleeve.

Got all that? Good. Because remember hip hop white kid up there? Terezi is like that kid in that it's never quite clear how much of her behavior is her putting on an act for other people. This girl performs. Look at the way she roleplays with Nepeta: "Ok how about this girl. You like to roleplay with her sometimes via chat. You pretend you are a member of the mysterious and noble DRAGONYY'YD RACE, while she does her own goofy thing. You don't have it in your heart to tell her that your chat RPing is meant f4c3t1ously I mean facetiously. Why the hell does she do it? Because it's fun. Because she wants to. Because it's what other people expect from her -- it's part of the image she's built. Does she really believe her scalemates are alive? Fuck no. She pretends to believe that because it annoys other people -- but she does so in her introduction, when no one else is around. There is no one to be annoyed by her game. The same goes for when she discovers Tavros' murder: she decaptchalogues her toys and reenacts a crime scene investigation for her own entertainment. Nobody's watching her. She's doing it because she wants to.

She walks the tightrope between terribly ironic and terrifyingly sincere. Terezi is the kind of kid who wears dragon costumes because she 100% fucking loves dragons and because dragon costumes are impossibly tacky. She genuinely enjoys what she does, just as much as she enjoys watching other peoples' reactions to her.

One big, important thing to note is that buried deep beneath her collected exterior, Terezi is harboring the potential for some very serious self-esteem issues. If she makes a mistake -- a huge mistake like killing her friend that she'll never, ever be able to take back -- she kinda completely fucking loses aLL OF HER GODDAMN SPAGHETTI. She falls into a deep depression after killing Vriska. She starts to feel inadequate when compared to the dancestors, allows herself to be manipulated by Aranea into healing her eyes, and all of Gamzee's blackrom taunts hit far, far harder than they should have. She blames herself heavily for not searching for a different outcome to the fight on the meteor. At the time, looking into the possible futures revealed only two paths: one where Vriska flew away and got them all killed, and one where Terezi killed Vriska and saved everyone on the meteor, but she knows that she's just as responsible for the decisions that led up to that choice. She ended up painting herself into a corner and regretted it until the day she died. Literally.

Flavor Abilities: I would like to keep Terezi's ability to smell and taste colors. As I've mentioned before, she's blind. The way she perceives the world is through other senses. This is not a supernatural ability; this is something that any troll could probably learn to do, if they had the incentive for it and the proper teacher.

Trolls are also obnoxiously difficult to kill for whatever reason? Probably Hussie's weird KIDS AND FUN fetish idk. Terezi's not going to be shrugging off something stupid like dismemberment, but I'd like her to still be a bit sturdier than the average thirteen year old girl.

Suitability: Terezi grew up on a Lord of the Flies death planet. Unlike many other trolls, she had no lusus to care for her, so she essentially had to raise herself. She is no stranger to having to scrape out a living, though the snow is going to be very new to her. Not being able to fight monsters after coming out of a game where she hit max level is going to be strange, though.

Act 6 is just one incredibly long spiral downwards into depression and self-loathing, so there will be some basis for the psychological aspects of Snowblind to take hold. Although she's probably going to be one of the youngest characters in the game, it's not like she's coming from a children's cartoon canon. She's had to deal with death and fear before.

Inventory:
- His clothing (Simple long sleeved shirt and pants worn under armor)
- Holy Dragoon armor (An image is available on the wiki page here )
- Earrings (Sorta dangly in style, two brown beads and one red bead. Can be seen most easily here. Still not too easy to see tbh)

Personality:
Kain is most often described in canon as solitary but gentle and kind. A loyal Dragon Knight of Baron who aspires to be as great as his late father, Richard Highwind. Most of Kain's development in FFIV revolved around his betrayals against the party, and could be seen as quite subtle in nature. We get much more information in the DS remake, showing much of his curiosity and observational skills while he is in the party; even displays of anxiety in the later dungeons. Even still his external appearance is almost cold, stoic, one must be quite close to him to ever tell what is on Kain's mind; even then it isn't terribly easy.
He'd rather keep his problems as his problems, not bother others and push on regardless of the adverse effects it may have on him. This is mostly a matter of his pride, even if he knows it to be an unwise practice; he cannot allow himself to be dependent on others after all. If ever someone, or something, is able to mess with Kain's mind he very quickly falls into a defensive state. Little trust for anyone or anything around himself, it can lead to flashbacks, especially should he be aware of that which is in his mind.

The commander of the Baron Dragoons. Like Cecil, Kain lost both parents at an early age and was subsequently raised by Baron's king. He has long been a friend and a rival to Cecil.
Kain's story, as anyone who has played the games know, is one of regret and repentance. As we learn Cecil and Kain had both fallen in love with their mutual childhood friend Rosa, knowing she'd only had interest in Cecil Kain remained quiet, albeit bitter, about his own feelings. Jealousy towards Cecil, not only for being the object of Rosa's affection but because Kain found he could never live up to Cecil's own skill as a Knight. While he loved his two closest (and only) friends quite dearly Kain would find himself sometimes wishing things had gone differently, or that Cecil not even be present at all.
Still he went on with his life. As a Dragon Knight Kain served as their Commander, placed in charge by the Dragoons themselves for his skill with dragons after he earned the trust of the dragon that once belonged to Richard. Though difficult he took initiative to ignore what he felt, finding distraction in his attempts to live up to his father and the Highwind name.

It would seem your life is spared... for now.
This continued until Golbez claimed command of Baron. Seeing some use in the young Commander Golbez cast a spell, making use of the jealousy and bitterness to take control of Kain's mind. Under the Warlock's command he became cold, his own will molded to Golbez's needs. When next we should see Kain in Fabul, he even goes so far as to attempt to kill Cecil at Golbez's command... until he caught sight of Rosa. For a moment the sight of the woman he so loved could almost have managed to free him.
The sudden appearance of Golbez himself brought Kain back under the spell, making off with the Crystal, taunting how Cecil would be allowed to live another day by sheer luck alone; Rosa then kidnapped by Golbez. After this moment we see scenes of Kain scheming alongside Golbez, the plot to exchange Rosa for the Earth Crystal of Troia, even seen asking to be given another chance to kill Cecil.
This time shows a lot of things with Kain, hidden desires even he didn't realize, or didn't want to admit to. Any development in this time are real feelings that he isn't admitting to, wont admit to, and even later is going to deny and push away again. The thoughts, the feelings, he'd been utterly disgusted by them; that's why he denied them from the beginning. He isn't ready to accept such things yet.

Cecil! For...forgive me... what have I done?
The Tower of Zot is where one will truly learn of Kain's 'motivations.' When finally his mind is freed Kain is shown to have quite clear remorse and regret for his actions, even seeming scared of what he'd done under Golbez's command. Even then he'll quite quickly admit he'd been conscious of his actions while under Golbez's spell. Despite it all Kain was quick to join with Cecil and Rosa again, wishing to prove and redeem himself for his actions.

He said when all of the crystals were gathered, the way to the moon would be open.
Kain begins to assist the party immediately, divulging information of the Dark Crystals and the underworld. Handing over the Magma Stone that had been entrusted to him by Golbez as the key to the underground. Much of Kain's development for quite awhile is quite mundane at this point. We see him express shock at the sudden appearance of Rydia in the Underground, anger and sorrow as allies seem to die one after the other to stop Golbez's plans. Even so, we see him return to what could be assumed as 'normal' for him.
Calm, collected, ever-observant as he traveled alongside the party, even shows of sarcasm directed at Edge at times. Regardless, we see Kain completely sold to the cause of stopping Golbez. His own actions had heavily played into the Warlock's battles, Kain would do whatever it took to reverse the damages. He was determined one could say to right his misdeeds.

I'm no longer... under his... con...tro...l
The next major development for Kain occurs in the Sealed Cave. In the DS Version we can observe as Kain begins feeling something familiar, thought bubbles conveying a sense of panic and urgency as the party begins to flee from the Sealed Cave. In the entrance of the cave Golbez returns, calling Kain back to the Tower of Babil; to steal the final crystal and return to Golbez. Unable to fight the spell once again Kain falls back under Golbez's control, attacks Cecil and flees the cave, Dark Crystal in hand.
The major factor here is the sense of fear evident in the scene. Kain does not wish to fall back under Golbez's spell, and he is terrified of it happening. If Golbez gets the final Crystal, whatever plan they'd been trying to stop will be realized. Kain does not want to betray his allies again, he'd been trying to make up for his past betrayal the entire time. If he falls to Golbez again, it's only proof that he cannot be trusted. The world could be destroyed. It was the worst thing that could happen, and in his panic and fear he just couldn't prevent it.

If that should happen, kill me without a second thought.
After the destruction of the Giant of Bab-il Golbez is freed from his own brainwashing by the Lunarian Zemus, in turn Kain is returned to his senses for the final time. He shows the party how to escape from the collapsing giant and they flee to the Lunar Whale. Again Kain makes an apology, but he is clearly... different this time, somber. He doesn't expect forgiveness, he doesn't seem upset when at first he doesn't get it. Still Kain is assured that it wasn't his fault, Golbez had been controlling him. When told of Zemus he remarks how he has 'a debt' to repay to Zemus. When asked what will happen if Zemus takes over Kain's mind again he asks the party to kill him, should it occur.
Kain is utterly disgusted with himself, truly. His inability to fight Golbez's spell almost ended in the destruction of their entire planet. He's angry and wants to crush Zemus, the one responsible for all that happened. Just like he once wished revenge on Golbez Kain now wants to be there to end Zemus, and hopefully put to rest all that he'd done. Still, he knows the ever looming threat of being taken over again still exists. While he'd rather not die at all, Kain would rather his allies take his life than be forced against them again.Throughout this final dungeon we see in the DS Version that Zemus does try to get into Kain's mind again, but finally he does manage to overcome it.

Lunar Trials
Kain's Lunar Trial consisted of a strange, alternate world of Baron based upon his fears and innermost secrets.
The fears played upon was his fear of being abandoned by Cecil and Rosa, a fear of the responsibility he had for his actions while under Golbez's Control, a fear of what he found himself becoming after the brainwashing, the darkness that was growing within himself. The choice to kill Cecil or not in the end can imply two very different developments within Kain. Is he falling to the darkness that is willing for him to follow his darker desires, or does he still retain the strength to stay who he is and to fight the darkness? A very simple choice, but a very interesting one.

When I've become an even greater Dragoon then my father, perhaps then I can return.
The end of final fantasy iv has Kain leaving to Mount Ordeals. The battle against Zeromous proved only that Kain could not so easily escape from the darkness within himself. Knowing that Cecil became a Paladin atop Mount Ordeals Kain went there himself, hoping he can find the same redemption Cecil did, clean himself of that which he so despised about himself. He stayed for seventeen years....

I am what you really feel, deep down in your heart.
Failure in his trial on Mount Ordeals let free Kain's darker half to do as he wished around the world. Still the Dark Dragoon showed signs of hesitance after he's left the chamber, he has no role, no purpose. The Dark Dragoon is no more than feelings originally, feelings that had long been denied their right to exist. He knew not how to act or what to act on, simply waited for some catalyst, and eventually so would that catalyst arrive.
Lady Porom of Mysidia climbed the mountain. A show of compassion as the Dark Dragoon protects Porom and her party from a hoard of monsters. This kindness all but ends when he's told or why Porom came to find him. He claims no need to defend Baron, and he couldn't care less about Mysidia. Still Porom persists until some loyalty to Baron is awakened in the Dragoon. At this point he becomes quiet persistant of his want to leave Mount Ordeals, hesitant to pause for anything.
Back in Mysidia they find the town under attack by monsters, and search out the elder. He informs Kain of what is happening, and when told of Baron's fate he says he needs to see the Kingdom for himself. He quite soon abandons the Mysidians and any attempt by Porom to follow him to Baron. He leaves, making it quite clear he cares not what the Mysidians do so long as they don't follow him.
Even still, he soon appears again after the Maenad has attacked, Water Crystal in hand. For a chance to kill Cecil he offers her the Crystal, fleeing Mysidia with the Maenad and crystal. While going through the Devil's road he showed some interest in the Maenad, what she was, who she was. None of these questions were answered, and when the same should be asked of him he gives nothing in response back.
He converses with the Maenad again in Baron, refusing to hand over the crystal until he is given the chance to kill Cecil, but making it known he cares little for the crystal itself, only his chance to end Cecil's life. When asked why that was of such great importance he responds it is none of her concern. He agrees to collect the two remaining Crystals for her (albeit reluctantly) and is sent off to Damcyan and Fabul.
In Fabul he is beaten by Yang and Ursula, though still shows persistence in collecting the crystal, jumping over the royals to grab the thing and back over them to escape. In Damcyan he clearly sees Edward as little threat, takes the crystal and kidnaps Rosa who had been in hiding in Damcyan. He heads back to Baron, gaining an eccentric madness as he goes on...
Much of Dark Kain's behavior is hard to understand. He doesn't want to ally himself to anyone, and taking orders is something he seems to quite detest. Still, he was desperate to find some cause. His desire to slay Cecil seems to appear in Mysidia, perhaps due to the influence of the crystal; remnants of the past war waking up desires and feelings as he approached it. Memories bringing him to his decided goal.
He wished to fulfill the desires Kain had so long ignored and pushed away, an attempt to make himself real to prove that, though those feelings had long been shunned he was quite real. Not something that could be ignored, not something to be pushed away. Not something Kain could get rid of so easily. He wanted Rosa for himself, wanted Cecil to finally be out of his way, out of his life for good. He didn't wish for affiliation with the Maenads, but they were his best bet to getting to Cecil. He worked for them, got the last crystals, only because it served for him to reach his goal.
Anything in the way of his goal would be crushed. Anything that wasn't would be ignored. Everything was focused on those two things. Destroyed Cecil, and taking Rosa for himself, somewhere no one could take her away from him again.

I don't have a name. No... I abandoned it long ago.
Despite his defeat on Mount Ordeals the escape of his dark half terrified Kain to no end. A final wish to protect his loved ones from the darkness and he was given one final chance. To complete his trial Kain was sent out to the world again, leaving Mount Ordeals as The Hooded Man to seek out and defeat his darkness once and for all. Upon leaving for Mysidia he runs into a boy, Ceodore, who claims to be of the Baron Red Wings.
At first the man finds himself to be anything but impressed. The boy almost died to a monster, seemed to speak without thinking, walked on with a stubborn bravery that almost had him killed. Still, he can't bring himself to turn away from the boy. Ceodore also was heading back to Baron, and there was safety in numbers. Speaking of urgent business in the Kingdom he leads Ceodore on to Mysidia and Baron. Things become strange in Baron, causing The Hooded Man worry.
With his familiarity of the town he leads Ceodore through the waterways and into Baron Castle. He begins to have his suspicions when he learns Ceodore's parents live in the castle, when pressing the question he shows surprise when it turns out to be Cecil and Rosa. Though he'd thought so it bothered him to hear, a reminder of how long he'd been away, how much of their lives he'd missed out on. It stung to hear.
He allows Ceodore to go off and look for his parents, showing concern and reminding the boy to be careful as he traveled through the castle. Home or no, there was something very wrong in Baron. How wrong? He'd soon learn as he hears _noises_ from the dungeon, finding Knight's unconscious bodies locked up in cells. The realization of what is going on truly sinking in he runs off to find Ceodore, ending up in the throne room where he encounters Cecil.
Overjoyed at first, he's not seen Cecil in far too long. Still all his attempts at showing concern for the King are greeted by cold words that drew only memories of the faux King Baron to mind. When finally told to leave The Hooded Man merely pardons himself and turns away, a fear gripping his mind. Was Cecil dead also? Was it but a repeat of the past? Was it a fiend taking his place? He soon found Ceodore, but decided that he could share his concerns with the boy and couldn't let Ceodore see his father as he was. He lied that Cecil seemed not to be around, the two left Baron and began travelling on to find Queen Rosa.
The Hooded Man has certainly taken a blow to his moral, his only hopes left are to find Rosa, or his other half. He prays beyond all hope that she is alright, that his counterpart has yet to do damage, that somehow, something is going to go his way. He continues to show a protective nature around Ceodore, teaching Ceodore, being the one among them both to tackle challenges and make decisions. He wants the best for Ceodore, truly, but he has his own goals to meet. He has a trial to complete after all, people to protect.
Its in Mist that he reveals his plans to Ceodore, going after a Dragoon, and Ceodore is well aware of who was meant by it. Still the two have little choice but to stick together. They travel on through Mist and to the Mountains separating the village and the desert. An attempt to escape the Baronian Soldiers following them from the man who had spent years upon a mountain. Still, easy it it would be for The Hooded Man alone to get across the Mountains he stayed alongside Ceodore to the end; despite how difficult it could be and the boy's clumsy nature. He cared too much by this point to leave him be. Of course, that worry would easily fade to 'be careful.'
Past this not much of interest seems to happen. The two fight soldiers in Kaipo and struggle through the underground waterway to Damcyan only to find Rosa having been kidnapped by the Dark Dragoon. Rushed demands to hurry after him from The Hooded Man are the only major points of development we see, until...
Throughout his adventures The Hooded Man tends to appear at a disconnect from emotion until something should hit him hard enough he need show something. It almost seems hard for him at times to display anything unless Ceodore should be in danger or when Rosa has been kidnapped. He carries an aura of mystery, even when you know how he is. To know what is going on in his mind is difficult, he's so closed about his own motives, his attempts, his thoughts.
Even still his fight was always for the greater good of others, those he loved, those he wanted to protect. His battle to defeat his other half no longer mattered for the purpose of cleansing himself of the darkness, but for the well-being of those who he'd come to care for. For Cecil, Rosa and Ceodore as well. The longer he traveled the more wrapped up it would become in their battles, the more he had to do something to protect his family, and eventually his very planet.

Yes... this is justice...
In Baron the Dark Dragoon and Hooded Man clashed, needing to bring about some end to their struggle. By the end, disarmed, the Dark Dragoon was defeated, accepted and once again became a part of Kain. Words from Kluya himself and finally years of training and struggle has brought about the desired end. By the power of Light Kain becomes a Holy Dragoon, finally ending the darkness that long had hold of him.
Throughout the final parts of the game Kain once again takes on a protective behavior. His world is at risk again, everyone he cares for could die at anytime, Cecil is constantly in pain due to... something currently unknown. He goes about the moon determined to prevent it from falling, constantly reminding others how '[they] must stop [the] moon.' He becomes curious to the crystals that keep shattering to reveal monsters, worried as well as to what that means for their own crystals.
His first focus is to stop the moon, his second is to defend his allies, the third is to learn about what is going on around him. Why are the crystals shattering? Why is Cecil in such strange and terrible shape? Where are their own crystals? What is this moon, for what purpose does it exist? Everything is a mystery, and many things are being solved. His emotions can go from serious to happy and back in a flash, simply due to the stress and happenings within the moon. Still somber as ever, Kain did all he could in that place. Grow stronger, protect, learn.
In endgame his travels have left quite the impact on Kain. He all around seems _happier_ than before, stronger for all he'd gained and lost. Years of conflict, of struggle, finally brought Kain to an ending he could live with. He could finally return home, finally be someone he wasn't ashamed of, wasn't disgusted by. Now serving as a Red Wing Captain Kain is well prepared to face the future, not afraid, not with doubt. There is some hope that things will get better again, and that things will stay better.

Flavor Abilities:
- Connection to Dragons and Wyverns
Has great skill with them, able to gauge their emotions and earn their trust easier than others. This allows him to communicate with them non-verbally.

- Holy Light
There isn't too much known about it in canon, to be fair. The Light that Kain and Cecil had both been gifted with. It really doesn't seem to do much. It's just... there, a part of who they've become. A promise of a better future after all they struggled for redemption. A warmth that is felt without giving off heat, something that is so clearly there but never seen. What does it do? Kain has no idea, but he's glad it's doing whatever it's done; because on whatever part of his being it effects he's never been more alright in his life.

Suitability:
After seventeen years alone upon Mount Ordeals Kain's social skills are... lacking. He doesn't like large groups and will probably avoid mass groups. He would rather only be present among trusted people and smaller groups. The aforementioned seventeen years on a zombie infested mountain has also made him quite the survival expert in... less than hospitable locations. Both his life prior to the mountain and upon the mountain Kain spent much of his time trainingHe'll probably do his best to help people he comes across if it is at all possible. Even then Kain's first priority will be his own survival. He'll hate it, and want to do what he can for the person, but if he doesn't think he can survival the attempt he likely wont make said attempt. I also find it unlikely he'll make use of the beacon if he is made aware that it attracts monsters. The idea of monsters he absolutely cannot beat is going to bother Kain greatly, he is going to do the best he can to stay as far away from them as is possible.

Extra Action Sample
Kain had dealt with many a strange sight on Mount Ordeals, images of people long gone from his life flashing before himself a moment, strange feelings taking hold in a flash, then leaving as suddenly as they'd come. Still this was far more unnerving than any of that, territory he'd not yet experienced himself. The Dragoon wanted to raise his eyes, look again to see if that which he thought he saw was still there or not. Was one more peek too much?
His legs were pulled up close to himself, forehead resting upon his knees and arms drawn around his legs. Should he pretend it wasn't there, would it go away? Could he will it away? There was no sleeping to be done, he was cold and he was alone and he was honestly frightened by what this damned house was making him see. It wasn't Kain's fault he couldn't leave, wasn't his fault he was stuck inside.
Why be punished like this...?
A soft exhale, the Knight lifted his head again to glance at the form slumped over across the room. Blue eyes fell on it with pity, his chest ached as he found himself unable to look away.
"Father...?"
He knew, truly, it was but an illusion. The battered corpse of the ex-Dragoon Commander, it wasn't real. No, Richard Highwind had been buried years ago though still in Kain's mind the corpse may well be fresh. Blood trailing from his lips, eyes distant and clouded, one couldn't tell if he'd been attacked or poisoned. No one could tell, no one would ever know. The man was gone, and no one would ever know why; and Kain would never know who took his father away from him.
"Father... I'm sorry." A smile, dejected as he glanced at the body. "I lied that night, before you passed."
"My father, I don't hate you, I swear it."

Canon Point: Right as Kanaya kills him after 3x Showdown
Background Link: Bam
Inventory:

Just his clothes on his back pretty much, which is:

Scarf, black long sleeved shirt with a violet Aquarius symbol on it, striped horrors pants, his bowling shoes, and ugly hipster glasses.

Personality:
To put Eridan simply, he’s a raging selfish, hipster, wanna-be wizard, douchebag, prince with a genocide complex. But to go a little more in depth, he’s basically still that just with a little more foundation as to why. Being part of the troll race, which is highly violent and destructive, it’s natural for him to be a bit of an asshole. That of course, goes hand in hand with his blood, being the second richest hue in the hemospectrum(The system in which trolls use as a caste depending on blood color) making him royalty and he grew up as such; which by the way, he’ll remind you of repeatedly, because that’s what he is, royalty, don’t you forget it. But with being such, he’s also better than you, seeing as not only is he a troll AND royalty, but he’s also a sea dweller (which is a subspecies of troll that mutated, allowing them to live underwater). Basically, chances are, he’s better than you in some capacity if not all, and he’ll tell you as such, because he can’t let you forget the facts, you know the ones about him being better than you? Because that’s what he is. Better than you.

At first glance, he seems to be nothing more than a dramatic douchebag, which really basically IS what he is, seeing as through his love for Alternian history, wars, and the stories that follow such a genre, he’s crafted himself a dramatic and theatrical persona that follows suit to the epic stories of conquest and heart wrenching defeat and horrible betrayal and sweeping romance. With those tales, he’s molded himself a prideful, overly dramatic, and obnoxious identity. That coupled with his already ‘Holier than thou’ attitude makes for quite the charmer. Along with these most charming personality traits comes his interests, which having already covered his love for the glorious military history of Alternia and their captivating tales, comes his genocide complex, which one could easily imagine the idea spawned from these tales of glory and defeat, along with him being a vicious sea dweller. Trolls are violent as is, but as one climbs the rainbow ladder that makes up the hemospectrum, the higher you get, the more violent the troll. Eridan definitely reigns true on this fact, seeing as he’s sworn it as his destiny to kill all land dwellers! With such plans, he amassed a great deal of doomsday devices and weapons with the help of his then kismesis(Basically hategirlfriend), Vriska Serket.

Of course, he amassed these by his FLARPing sessions with her. FLARP being Fatal Live Action Role-Play. This is a pretty common thing for Troll kids to take part in, but it often ends in death and revenge cycles. Eridan, miraculously, avoided both in his time, perhaps because he killed anyone before they could start a revenge cycle or kill him, and also because he was more so in a partnership/rivalry with Vriska so it never quite got to that point between them at least. However, he was a very seasoned FLARPer and as notorious as Vriska, they defintiely swept the seas and divided the spoils among each other for a good while! Eridan killing lusii to keep Feferi’s own fed, while Vriska took the trolls for her own lusus. All the while Vriska giving him these dooms day devices to help him in his plot to KILL ALL LANDDWELLERS. Which always failed.

While Eridan may dramatically boast about his intent on killing all land dwellers, it’s made obvious by his then moirail(another quadrant in troll romance) Feferi, that she didn’t think he actually had the intent to kill them, seeing as he made friends with a few of them. This may be true, which evidence does point more towards her speculation being as such since at any moment he could have killed them all with minimal effort, since he kept her lusus fed in order to keep its voice down. Had her lusus even began to whisper, trolls would have started dropping dead like flies. But one could presume that maybe he was trying to preserve what he had with Feferi as well, since she definitely wasn’t for his plans. A point he’s actually pretty sore about.

Which ever it is, it’s pretty apparent that Eridan is rather dubious with how he holds himself, which of course makes him come off as a raging douche, which he is, surely I failed to mention that before. He often times judges people by their worth to him, trying to use them to whatever extent he can to achieve his goals and hardly valuing them as a person--he mainly does this, though, with those lower on the hemospectrum. He also holds very entitled views for things he does, and when he doesn’t get what he thinks he deserves, he bitches and moans and complains--mainly to Karkat. Much like he had done in the veil when Nepeta had rejected him after he saved her life by getting her into the game. Karkat, of course, calls him out on his shit after he refers to her as “the kitty cat shipper cave girl” instead of by name, which one could assume he might not even REMEMBER her name at all because of her lowblood status. Which, Eridan very maturely changes the subject instead of owning up to being the insensitive douche he is.

He also hardly cares if he’s not being as gentle as he should be, because fuck your feelings they don’t mean shit compared to his. Which is probably why his flushed feelings for his moirail went very unrequited, since he never once really thought about her feelings in their relationship, or really considered her feelings for much of anything other than not using her lusus to kill all land dwellers. He had wanted something more red with her, but ended up playing his cards wrong and getting into the pale quadrant with her. Which, instead of trying to define his feelings to her in a less dubious fashion, he continued their romance and hardly acted the part of a moirail should, which leaves no question as to why their relationship ended how it did. This of course, devastated Eridan and the dramatics went everywhere, because woe is he, how could she leave him?!

This is another important point about Eridan though, as much as he whines and complains and throws around dramatics like a monkey does its own shit, there is a distinct difference between him dramatically whining and him being legitimately sad. He doesn’t so much like to show off his actual, genuine emotions, in fact a good deal of them need to be dragged out of him, where as he’s ready and willing to throw around his fake tears and wibble lips and scarf chewing and running off in a dramatic fashion and making a huge tool out of himself to everyone around him. Which, most people just get tired of, especially when he does this display when someone rejects him. Oh did I not mention how he throws himself at someone if they show the vaguest sense of interest at him? Yeah he does that too.

He wasn’t always such a desperate tool, really only getting to that apex of his personality through losing nearly EVERYTHING. As the twelve of them entered the game, one could argue that this hipstery fool lost more than anyone. For most, they escaped the tyranny of their own homeworld, where as Eridan lost all footing his homeworld gave him. Not to mention, he lost two quadrants almost simultaneously! That’s a HUGE shot to anyone’s ego, and Eridan didn’t take it well. But, then again, what 13 year old child would? And things only got worse for him in the game. He basically exiled himself to his own planet, where he killed angels, and felt utterly victimized by everyone’s “negligence” towards him, and then when they went to claim their victory BAM, they get stuck on a meteor waiting to die. However, while everyone else was busy worrying about important things, Eridan’s flirting with humans, so he really doesn’t help himself at all. He's the master of self sabotage.

Eridan is definitely something of an acquired taste he requires someone to acquire some taste, it takes a certain kind of person to deal with him on a day to day basis, especially when he really brings a lot of his own woes onto himself with his ridiculous attitude and bullheadedness and then tries to play the victim when he fucks up. He’s very dramatic in every way possible, even when showing general gratitude he throws in his own flare of dramatics. An example of which is when Kanaya made him his science stick, he definitely pulled out his wibble lip in thanking her there. Which by the way, this SCIENCE stick is powered by science, not magic, cuz magic is fake and science isn’t ok? Good.

Who cares if he is really into magic, despite him recognizing it’s fiction, this thing is powered by science and nothing else! (Except, chances are, it IS magic.) His fascination with what he so eagerly writes off as fiction is painfully apparent, with how it lead him to hassle Rose later on in the veil. Accusing her of such fraudulent acts, while in the same conversation he tries to solicit her for a black relationship and even demanding she shares with him her secrets of witchcraft--this of course ended in bitter rejection and Eridan losing his computer on account of her using her fakey fake fictional magic to explode it in his face. So in short, Eridan is a bit of a hypocrite. Okay, he’s a huge hypocrite, but fuck that noise because if it benefits him it hardly matters a damn bit, right? Right.

He relentlessly antagonizes people in hopes of getting a kismesis and then tries to swoon people into a matespritship, it hardly works--in fact doesn’t at all, but he’s trying. Trying to get people to like/hate him and trying to do what HE thinks is right, but he goes about it in all the wrong ways, that it pushes everyone away and makes himself miserable. He’s excessively difficult about near everything, and extremely stubborn, he had spent a great deal of the game killing angels on his own planet, despite Karkat trying to convince him to stop. Eridan was so set on being right about this, that he stayed there the whole time (Till he left to try and duel Sollux), but later bitches that no one would visit him on his planet, despite how he made the place a war zone. He is such the victim in this, as you can see.

Eventually, through an instance of his stubbornness and thinking he’s right about a solution to their horrible situation in the veil (Of course not without some egging on by a certain double-horned, bipolar, mustard-blooded troll) he demonstrates how thoughtless and vicious he can be by throwing a tantrum and with it he KINDA guarantees their species’ extinction via destroying the one thing they need to reproduce. Of course not before killing the girl he loved and one he regarded as a friend right after blinding the troll who stole "his" girl from him, and then absconding to go and duel some more. This all because he thought he knew how to save Feferi and himself, what with them being trapped on a meteor with the other 10 trolls waiting for death, but his plan was pretty stupid and not so well thought out, so of course it ended disastrously.

As much as Eridan isn’t completely heartless, he’s too wrapped in his own emotions and ideals to really think and consider other people as much as he should, or really even think about his actions before he does them. He’s an extremely impulsive and entitled jerk, who IS trying, but just doing it entirely wrong. He’s definitely misguided with his ideals and with troll society being what it was, but it hardly excuses him being the vicious dickbag he is.

Flavor Abilities:
Trolls are tough as hell to kill, seriously, unless it's something fatal like being CHAINSAWED IN HALF, they basically can withstand a lot. So, while Eridan wouldn't be able to withstand that much, I do wish for him to retain SOME durability from that, so he's not as frail as some 13 year old kid normally would be.

Suitability:
Eridan is pretty used to being in terrible situations to be perfectly honest. However, snow and ice isn't something he's really encountered before. He's also got a bit of a huge genocide streak, and used to kill giant intimidating monsters as part of his responsibility of keeping his species alive—so not being able to kill these monsters will surely frustrate him beyond all reason. Which is fine by me!

RP Samples:
Thread: Old network post

non-thread:

None of this was any fucking fair at all.

He didn't ask to be brought into this veritable hell of snow and ice. Sure, maybe the alternative wasn't much better, what with being dead and all. But his hands feel as though they're ice—or at least what he CAN feel of them—and there's these obnoxious monsters that don't have the good decency to even take any damage no matter what he tries. He'd never admit to being a little scared of them, even though he kind of is.

But who could blame him? Probably Vriska, but she'd be just as much up shit creak without a paddle, so he doesn't let the thought bother him too much. Even if all he has right now is his thoughts while he tries to keep himself warm in the shitty coat that was provided for him. He's cursing his poor fortune in finding a house without a usable fire place or any other such useful amenities. Seriously, whoever was responsible for this place needed to be promptly eviscerated or something equally fitting for the kind of torment he's being put through! At least that line of thinking was keeping his mind off of how his knees were shaking from the cold, or how he was pretty sure he couldn't feel his hands anymore. Not to mention his poor fins.

"God fuckin' damnit, this is a load a festerin' fucking behemoth leavin's!" He growls to absolutely no one, because he doesn't have the good graces to even earn himself company here it seems. Something he doesn't entirely blame on himself, even if he knows it's likely got to do with his less than charming personality. At least, to some degree, but it's a whole lot easier just blaming it on the populace at large and their need to acquire some good taste. Hell, if he was any of them, he would DEFINITELY want a violet blood like himself as company! His is the best there could be!

What a bunch of shitty peasants, maybe he's better off shivering on his own in this abandoned house. It's not like he needed anyone back on the meteor, or in the game, and he certainly doesn't need anyone here. He'll survive... probably. If he could handle those powerful as shit angels back on LOWAA, then he can handle this.

Even if he might prefer killing angels to freezing his fins off.

Character Information

Name: Margaret ‘Peggy’ Carter
Canon: MCU
Age: 25 (at canon point)
Gender: Female
Canon Point: End of Captain America: The First Avenger
Background Link: Peggy in the MCU Wiki link
Inventory: Peggy is wearing her usual uniform – coarse olive wool trousers, olive wool button blazer, a button-down shirt, leather belt, olive tie, leather service boots, standard issue socks. She’s also wearing a brown leather jacket (zip-up, large collar). In her pockets, she carries a wallet holding some loose change (in different currencies; she can’t be bothered to count them), a sketch on a notebook page that has been torn off, carefully folded in four, her military ID, a picture of her brother Michael, and a picture of herself and Steve Rogers. Also in her pockets, a tube of Besame lipstick in the Red Velvet shade, a compact mirror also holding some loose powder, a wristwatch (with a hidden compartment hiding lockpicking tools) and a pair of red-rimmed sunglasses. She also used a Walther PPK as a sidearm.

Personality: Peggy has always had a taste for adventure. When she was young, she would run around the garden playing knights and princesses – and she was always the knight. She never lost the taste, even when her life took a different path. She was due to be married and stay a code-breaker at Bletchley Park, helping the war effort while staying at home, when her brother Michael was killed on the front, and Peggy’s life was turned inside out. She joined the SOE (Special Operatives Executive) through being recommended by her brother, and regained her taste for living on the very edge.

Peggy is a confident, self-assured woman who’s had to step on a lot of toes to get where she ended up. While hardly fearless, she is not afraid to speak her mind, even to superiors. It got her into trouble more than once, but her intelligence and charm, as well as her strong belief in other people, also got her out of it. She makes friends easily, and cultivates her relationships; there are only a handful of people she holds close to her heart, and she is loyal to a fault to them, determined to protect them to the best of her abilities, even when they have no choice but to put themselves into danger. She doesn’t really do being alone, even though she can; she doesn’t enjoy it. She’s prone to babbling when a thought comes to her, better used to trying to understand her thoughts by talking them out loud.
Peggy, through her struggles, has not lost her sense of humour, or her ability to enjoy a good joke. She has a bit of a naughty streak, and delights in silly pranks and good puns whenever she has the ability. A quick tongue and sharp wit is required for her to be respected by anyone in her line of work, and she has no issues using hers. She is incredibly British when it comes to her humour, most often very dry and sometimes cruel – when necessary.

Being a woman in a world of men has hardened her heart, but it doesn’t mean that Peggy isn’t mainly guided by it. Her morals and ethics are strongly affected by her emotions, and she is proud of it; proud of how her feelings and instincts are usually right (see, Steve Rogers). She trusts herself and believes in herself, believes she has more to give to the world than what the world seems to want from her.

Peggy is also stubborn, and sometimes, the lack of respect and regard she gets from men in command – or even men she’s commanding – drives her to distraction. The anger she feels at being unfairly judged because of her sex leads to harsh, badly thought-out decisions where she will put herself into danger without thinking of consequences, just to prove that she can. She is, on the other side of the coin, also very dedicated to her appearance and wants to look as feminine as she can at all times; there are times when she finds herself quite vain because of it. Though confident, she has her moments of doubt, and often wonders if she hasn’t made a terrible mistake in joining the SOE.

Very proud, Peggy doesn’t always like to ask for help, even though she is getting better at it. Very inquisitive and of a curious nature, she loves puzzles and mysteries; there’s always something to investigate.

As a spy, Peggy is an excellent liar, and knows so very well how to cover up her own flaws, insecurities, and fears – which are plenty. She’s afraid of not leaving a mark, of dying alone, of never loving again the way she’s loved once. She’s afraid of never gaining the respect she believes she deserves, sink into the ranks and disappear one day, no one to notice. She’s afraid of one day becoming a wife and be unsatisfied by it. She’s afraid of the rules that society have determined for her because of her gender, and she’s afraid of being unable to change them.

Overall, Peggy is used to having to fight her way to anything she wishes for, and she will always give it 150% if she’s passionate about it. She's extremely adaptable, with good instincts and – most of the time – a good head on her shoulders, she has learnt to let a lot of things slide right off her back. She tries to live her life as a Good Person, despite her spying activities.

Flavor Abilities: Peggy doesn’t have any superpowers of any kind. Her weapons would be removed upon entering Norfinbury, but she still has a number of skills; she is a master martial artist, a master spy who can replicate accents and knows several languages (English, Russian and German, all fluent), as well as code-breaking due to her Bletchley Park days. She is also an expert tactician and marksman, and knows enough of chemistry to be able to build bombs with household items.

Suitability: As a soldier in WWII, Peggy has learnt to deal with the bitter cold of Europe in the winter. This also makes her well-suited for living through the harsh conditions of Norfinbury, as she is well-used to not having many luxuries (make-up being one of her biggest vices). She is very fit and athletic, used to eating rations, sleeping on the cold, hard floor, and trudging through the snow every day.

Alongside her ability to survive the harsh conditions of Norfinbury, she’ll be determined to investigate the whys and hows they all ended up in the town, and how to get out of it. She’ll probably put herself in some kind of danger in order to find more information.

In terms of exposure, she’d definitely be affected by paranoia, obsession, depression, and manic episodes, in the long term. Paranoia and obsession would be most likely to hit first, pushing her into a state of focusing her energy solely on understanding what is happening in Norfinbury, to the point of forgetting about her own health and that of her companions.

Having been pulled out of the late 40’s, Peggy will have no knowledge of modern technology and the tablet might throw her for a loop, if only for a little while. As well as that, encountering monsters will be a shock to her, but one she can recover from quickly, having taken on the Red Skull with Steve and the Howling Commandos in the past; she has seen some weird things already.

Character Information

Name: Alphonse Elric
Canon: Fullmetal Alchemist
Age: 15
Gender: Male
Canon Point: Just before the final fight with Father
Background Link: Background (World) and Background (Character)
Inventory: The armour that is his body, which includes a large loincloth tied around his waist. Additionally, a notebook and pen (what was his 'future snacks' book).

Personality: Alphonse Elric is the very definition of 'don't judge a book by the cover'. His outward appearance is that of a towering and intimidating suit of armour, decorated with conical spikes, and looming head and shoulders above mostly everyone else. But after only a few minutes of conversation, it wouldn't be hard to find out that he's anything but intimidating. In many ways, Al is a perfect foil for his older brother. Where Edward is hot-tempered, impulsive, and often impatient; Al is gentle, kind, and much more accepting of everyone around him.

One of the most defining things about Al is definitely his ability to keep hope alive, and to keep looking at life through optimistic and happy eyes. He naturally sees the glass as half full and, even in the darkest or most painful situations, he can find a way to put a positive spin on things. The most prevalent way this shows itself is in his attitude towards his armour body. For example. even though he desperately misses sleeping, eating, and even simple things like feeling the rain, he manages to put a positive spin on things by keeping a list of foods he will eat when he gets his body back.

Even Al can't deny that his armour body is a burden on many occasions, but he is still thankful to be in possession of it nonetheless, despite his brother's fears to the contrary. Ed saved Al's life by transmuting his soul into the armour, giving up his own arm in the process, and Al sees this as something to be incredibly grateful for. The depth of Ed's sacrifice showed how much he cares for his younger brother, and because even life in armour is still life and that means there's still hope that things can get better in the future.

It's in this viewpoint of looking to the future, that Al's hopeful optimism becomes intermingled with his impressive determination. The combination of these traits are what allows him to keep single-mindedly moving towards his ultimate goal - the restoration of both his and Ed's bodies - without becoming bitter from what they have already endured, or despondent about how far they still have to go. From burning down their own home so they had nowhere to return to, to following the slimmest of leads across the whole country, the theme of 'moving forwards' and continuing to hope is a strong one that never fades away. Yet despite this determination, Al remains a very moral person and never lets the end goal justify committing atrocities. For example, even though the philosopher's stone may be able to help restore his body, both he and Ed refuse to use one once they find out that human sacrifice is required to make one.

An almost natural progression of his sunny outlook on life, is Al's capacity for kindness and forgiveness towards others. He hates seeing other people hurt, and it's the injuries to the people that he and Ed meet along the way which cut him far more deeply than any hurt to himself. He often goes out of his way to attempt to shield and protect others, such as hiding a chimera girl inside his armour to try and keep her safe from the military, even if it ended up backfiring. This desire to protect and care for others, builds to such a point that eventually he snaps and declares that he "won't let anyone else be hurt for them [he and Ed] any longer."

His willingness to forgive and believe in the goodness of people, is shown the most clearly in his relationships with both Hohenheim and Scar. Hohenheim, the father of Ed and Al, abandoned their small family unit when both boys were very young and didn't return even when their mother died. Understandably, Ed is bitter and angry towards him; however, Al is shown almost immediately accepting his far-fetched life story and calling him 'Dad'. Scar has murdered many State Alchemists, and even attempted to murder Ed, but Al still entrusts the safety of May to him when it becomes absolutely necessary. All of this might make it seem like Al is a very naive and innocent person, but he's actually quite mature for his age and well aware of what the world is really like, it's simply that he chooses to believe that it can be better.

However, all of this kindness and optimism aside, Al is a very human boy at heart and, as such, has some very human failings of his own. He's by no means immune to fits of sadness and despair. His armour body is often a cause of distress to him, though he may try to cover it up, because of its severe limitations. He can't sleep or dream, he can't eat, he can't feel anyone touch or embrace him, and he can't even cry if he needs to. He desperately longs for his body back to regain all of these things, and sometimes the reminders of what he has lost are too much for him - for example, when he haltingly admits to Ed that he isn't sure how many more nights of loneliness he can bear.

His body can also make him very sensitive to the observations of others, as well as sometimes wavering in his own self confidence. He dreads being seen as something other than human, and the brief period when he allowed Barry the Chopper to plant doubts in his mind that he ever had been human led to some of the worst depression Al suffered during the series. He knows he is human within, and Ed knows he is human too, but he is always acutely aware that others may not see him that way, which hurts deeply. Of course, the loss of his mother and the subsequent attempt to revive her using human transmutation has also left deep scars on Al emotionally. The burden of guilt over what he and his brother tried to do, as well as the physical pain that Ed endured for many months afterwards, is something that never truly leaves him.

Finally, it would be impossible to talk about Al, without mentioning his relationship with his older brother, Edward. The two brothers share a connection and love that stems from being all one another has, and is deepened by the experiences they have gone through together. A large part of Al's strength comes from Ed, and his belief in his brother. He looks up to him, admiring his passion, his dedication, and his strength; and in turn takes comfort from knowing that Ed holds him in equally high regard. Yet, despite their closeness, the relationship never crosses the boundaries of being co-dependent. Al knows that Ed is competent, and so trusts him to take care of himself and return safely whenever they are separated.

Flavor Abilities: Al will retain his hollow armour body. However, as discussed here, he will still require food, sleep, and shelter from the elements to survive. Additionally, his armour is sealed shut, and damage to it will result in bleeding despite the metal casing still being empty.

Suitability: As Al is one of those people who displays their heart for all to see, and cares so deeply about others, that the ruthless nature of the environment will get to him even if he manages to shelter himself from the cold. He would also be highly affected by any psychological horrors that were inflicted (such as the cabin fever), and seeing others in distress would hit all his buttons. I am interested in exploring the contrast between the hopelessness of a horror game situation and the natural optimism of Al's character.

Open RP post - For characterisation, with various separate sub-threads

Please note, the linked samples in the setting were written before requesting clarification about Al's body/flavour abilities, so they are inaccurate in the way he would treat the cold. In order to rectify this, I've written another sample in case more is needed.

Written sample: Network (in the setting)
[It has taken Alphonse a while to work out the tablet. The technology is vastly superior to the phone network within Amestris and, as if that wasn't barrier enough, the device is hardly made for someone with such giant metal fingers. Still, he's a fast learner, he always has been, so it's only a few days of botched note taking full of typos, and instructions from the help screen, before he's able to utilise it properly.

The first thing to be shared on the public network is a photograph. It's just the white expanse of snow that covers most of this land, but there is an incongruously placed wooden chair planted atop a snow drift. The picture fades away, because Al hasn't quite mastered broadcasting himself and the picture on the network at the same time.]

I think it's about time we took exploring here seriously. Not just to try and find our way home, but also so we can map safe routes to shelter, food, and friends. If we each place markers like this, then eventually we will have a set of rough guiding posts. Then when you pass one, you can note down where it is, and you can get back there in case of a distress call or... well, anything.

[Organisation might be a small step to start with, but it's an important first one in Al's mind.]

Note: Al will be returning will full memories of his last visit here.

Personality:

“A lesson without pain is meaningless. That's because no one can gain without sacrificing something. But by enduring that pain and overcoming it, he shall obtain a powerful, unmatched heart. A fullmetal heart.”

When one first meets Ed, he can seem like a hot-tempered, headstrong, and stubborn fellow. He can be extremely impulsive and judgmental on first sight, and although he might have good intentions, he will come to blows with anyone who stands against him. He has very strong opinions, and can be a bit arrogant and big-headed if he’s left unchecked. This isn’t to say he’s this way all the time -- in fact, he can be an incredibly loyal, patient and caring person when put to task. He struggles most with his temper when his height is called into question, or he runs into someone with a like personality.

Beyond his more childish attributes, Ed is extremely intelligent and talented. He was able to perform advanced alchemy at a very young age, and even managed to attempt a human transmutation, and bind his brother’s soul to a suit of armor. These are skills that not even the most adept alchemists have, and although the Elric brothers’ attempts to save their mother ultimately failed, the fact that they managed to achieve it and not kill themselves is a feat in and of itself. He was ten years old when he attempted this, and after he was fitted with automail and given another chance at seeking to get his and his brother’s body back, he applied (and was accepted) to be a State Alchemist, quickly becoming the youngest State Alchemist Amestris had seen.

Ed is extremely bright and often can see answers or solutions, can solve puzzles or queries, faster than the average person. He works quickly and thoroughly, with a keen eye for detail. Because he works so differently from most, it can cause conflict, especially if those around him are unable to keep up with his train of thought. Sometimes, Ed doesn’t even explain how he came to an answer, or explain where they are going or why until long after they have begun to travel. He has a very distinct style of working, and again the impulsiveness plays a huge role in this. He likes answers, and likes to be on the move constantly seeking answers. He does not do well with an idle mind. Alphonse helps keeps him focused and grounded, does not let him lose himself to his thoughts and dreams too often, making sure that Ed realizes they’re both part of a team, not just one fighting to avenge the other.

Despite his quick temper, Edward means well. His intentions, though not always clear, are almost wholly on the good side. He does not like hurting people, intentionally or accidentally. In fact, when presented with options along his journey, there are many easier options that include killing or hurting hundreds of people. He could just as easily agree to take the easier, selfish path, but intentionally takes a more difficult road, not wanting anyone to be hurt by his hand.

Even when he gets into squabbles with people, he never truly wants to hurt anyone. In fact, he often finds a way of making up for his faults, and is extremely willing to assist others when he can. We can see this side of Ed more clearly with Alphonse, to whom he is extremely gentle and warm, doing everything he can to seek a better life for his brother. It is his anger and idea of self-importance that often covers up his own fears and insecurities. He does not do well revealing weaknesses, and does not like to open up to those around him. He does not like to put anymore weight no the shoulders of those around them, and instead tries to shoulder his own burdens, to a fault.

It is this stubbornness that is perhaps the strongest character trait Edward has. While in many cases, it can be of a great benefit to him, it can also be his greatest downfall. He is able to commit and stick to an idea or path better than most -- his determination and stubbornness work hand in hand when it comes time to complete tasks for figure out a solution to a problem. Sometimes, however, this stubbornness and prideful behavior can land him into trouble. He is unable to see that perhaps his path is not always the best or right one, and it’s his own insecurities that bring this to the forefront. He does not like failure, however, does not like to be talked down to or on the losing team, so he can sometimes be talked out of his strong willed ideas, but usually he has to learn from his own mistakes.

For those who can talk Ed down, cool him off and make him see the world around him in a new light, it’s a great privilege to earn his trust. Although not necessarily a distrusting young man. Edward has seen a lot of pain and hurt in his life. He is extremely protective of his friends, and his friend-made family. Those he keeps around him are very important to him, and give him a humility that, without them, he would not have. Alphonse, in particular, helps form Ed into a gentler person. Without his brother, Ed would lack all drive and focus, but it is Ed’s love for Alphonse that keeps him going.

Alphonse gives him a sensitivity to the world around him that he might not otherwise have. Be it to save a cat, to help a starving man on the street, a girl who is lost to grief, Ed is always inclined to be kind first (assuming he is not attacked or affronted first) and will do everything in his power to make even the briefest of acquaintances happy. But it is his duty to Al that is both beneficial, keeping him grounded, but could just as easily spur him to the dramatic. Ed will go to all ends to insure that Alphonse gets his body back. He considers it his own fault that Al is trapped in a suit of armor, and even if it means giving up his own life, or more body parts, he will do anything to help his younger brother, both out of loyalty and a need for justice.

Ed’s sense of justice is especially strong -- paired with his stubbornness, he strives to do what he believes is right. He wants nothing but peace and equality, at the end of it all. He is a hard worker, studious, impulsive and fiery, but all of these things are a part of the big heart he has, and the compassion he shares not only for his brother and their mission, but for the world around them.

Flavor Abilities: Edward has an arm and leg made out of automail. They will not give him any extra strength in game, only stand in as prosthetics. The automail does not do the best in the cold, but is not impossible to manage. He also has impressive fighting skills for his age, though these are rarely used outside of self defense. Edward also practices Alchemy in his home world and is exceptionally good at it, though he will unable to use it in Norfinbury. Although he cannot use his alchemy, he has a broad scientific and chemical knowledge as well.

Suitability: Ed in particular is not immune to horror, but has experienced a great deal of it in his life. I am interested in seeing how he interacts in the setting without his alchemy. Also, he has a natural tendency to want to fix things, or to find solutions, so he will be prone to pretty diverse CR, both positive and negative. The one thing he may struggle with is his automail and the cold temperatures -- the metal can be uncomfortable when cold, and in bitterly cold temperatures, can even damage his skin if he isn't careful. It will slow him down and create some interesting tension for him as a character, and could be a unique way for him to meet people.

RP Samples: one & two.

note; Ed will be returning with his game memories!

Character Information

Name: Yukio Okumura
Canon: Blue Exorcist
Age: 15
Gender: Male
Canon Point: End of chapter 72
Background Link: Some of Yukio's history can be found here. The history section for his page of the wikia seems to follow the manga, but it's incomplete. I'll summarize what's missing by arc below. If you're an absolute crazy person like me and would like to read a full write-up of his entire history, complete with my own slow sink into madness, you can find that here.

Terror of the Kraken Arc
Once the Impure King is defeated and the mountain is purified, everyone gets to go home... except sike! No one gets to go home because it's time for a beach trip instead. A Kraken has been sinking ships nearby, and the True Cross force in Kyoto is called in to nip it in the bud before they leave. Sounds like some serious stuff, right? Right, but not so serious that there can't be beach time shenanigans and adorable bathing suits. Eventually the Kraken shows up and starts taking down helicopters. Rin, the idiot that he is, jumps into a boat (accidentally knocking Shiemi into it) and takes off in pursuit. Yukio follows, because following Rin when he's being stupid is what Yukio does. Rin plays hack-and-slash with a tentacle while Yukio jumps into the boat with Shiemi on it. They both quickly learns that the water right above a Kraken is not a very good place to be. The Kraken bats their boat into the air, destroying it and dropping Yukio and Shiemi into the water. Yukio inflates Shiemi’s life vest and pulls her to the surface (damn, that girl loses consciousness easily).

They’re about to head for shore when a coral reef magically appears beneath their feet, leading them to a nearby island. When they finally get inside, Shiemi’s not breathing. For a moment it looks like Yukio’s going to have to give her the kiss of life (and all the fangirls swoon), but she comes to on her own... somehow. Yukio starts in on Rin about his stupidity again, but then his phone rings. No, I don’t know why his phone still works after a dip in the ocean. It just does. Shura yells at all of them and then informs them that they’re on an island that used to act as a shrine to Wadatsumi, a legendary water diety. A demon similar to Shiemi’s Greenman (though larger and ocean-oriented) leads them to the cave where Wadatsumi is resting, and Shura has the Order fly over a huge crate of food and other offerings. The plan is to give the old god his strength back with a solid offering so that he can fight off the Kraken.

Rin and Shiemi get to cooking and such while Yukio cleans his guns and reads off official offering... scripture or something. Once the offering’s finished, the three of them sit down to eat, too. Well, Rin and Shiemi eat while Yukio continues to be surly and clean his guns. The brothers get into yet another fight about how Rin is too careless with his powers and why isn’t he afraid and blah, blah, we’ve heard this all before. It escalates into a screaming match until Shiemi puts a stop to it, eventually coaxing them into having a proper chat. Rin informs Yukio that Satan’s flames are a part of him that he’s come to accept, and he wants Yukio to accept them too. Before we get an answer on that, Shiemi starts screaming because she’s gone and got herself nabbed by the Kraken. Yukio and Rin rush off to save her while Wadatsumi heads into battle.

The fighting begins, but Yukio feels the need to answer Rin’s query from before (spoilers: he can’t accept those flames) and while they’re talking, Shiemi rescues herself. Wadatsumi is killed by the Kraken, but not before wounding it and majorly pissing it off. It uses an ability with a really stupid name (“Mimicry Spit”) to create copies of itself, and the whole thing turns into a game of “Find the Real Kraken” for the exorcists on shore. Yukio sets up his rifle and starts sniping like a boss from the island. Seems like a good time for more brotherly chatting, right? Right! Yukio fears that Rin gaining consciousness as Satan’s child will have terrible consequences, and it’s impossible for him to be at ease while it can’t be guaranteed that Rin won’t be dangerous. Rin accepts his opinion with a grin, and Yukio realizes what a huge douchebag he’s being. Not that that won’t stop him from being one in the future. It just fuels his self-loathing. Rin is a good guy who’ll always use his flames to help without ever thinking of the consequences to himself, and there’s just nothing Yukio can do about that.

They work together to find the Kraken’s real form, and Rin defeats it. Wadatsumi dies on the beach and the brothers have more talky times, because why the hell not? They both agree that they’re probably never going to get along. Rin mentions wanting to fight alongside him some day anyway, but the whole thing ends in their usual bickering. It’s once again confirmed for the reader that the “real Yukio” hates himself and wants to be more like Rin and Fujimoto. Cheerful, yeah?

True Cross Academy Festival Arc
Everyone returns to True Cross Town and things go back to normal. Or as normal as they ever get. The action cuts to a situation in Yemen very similar to that of the Impure King. Angel defeats an Impure Princess, and the leaders of the Order prioritize the hunting of demon eaters, suspending Rin’s possible execution. There’s a glimpse of Yukio and Shura, both of them being kept busy with increasing numbers of demon sightings and consultation requests. Shura also nags Yukio about skipping his regular health checkups (that no one bothered to tell us about before), but we don't linger on that for long. Cut to Russia where we find out that someone has somehow created an artificial Gehenna Gate! It was probably opened by the Illuminati and even Mephisto can’t close it! Left as it is, it will slowly expand! But we can’t elaborate more on that yet because it’s time to go back to cram school! Exclamation point! Yukio starts the ExWires on a few missions involving the “Seven Mysteries of True Cross Academy”, during which he observes while the ExWires plan and fight together. Most of them aren’t very important for Yukio since all he’s doing is observing, but we do get to see him in drag at one point, so that’s something. He pulls it off shockingly well.

The ExWires go through each mystery, and Yukio spends most of that time worrying over just what the hell happened to him confrontation with Toudou. His checkup gave him a clean bill of non-demonyness, so what the heck is going on? Did he also inherit Satan’s flames in some way? Is he going to become like Rin?

Yukio’s summoned to the Vatican to speak before the Grigori about what happened with Toudou, and while there he learns of the Illuminati and the artificial Gehenna Gate, but he's not allowed to ask any questions or repeat any details of what’s said during the meeting. He’s even made to sign the “Morinas Contract”. If the terms of the Morinas Contract are broken, the demon who produced the contract will hunt you down and kill you. His presence at the meeting hardly seems necessary, but it’s likely he was summoned just to make him sign the contract. The Illuminati already have spies within the Order, and top dogs in the Order seem to think that as the twin of Okumura Rin, it’s possible that the Illuminati might already have someone like Yukio on a leash.

After he’s dismissed, Yukio meets up with Shiemi. He’s been tutoring her so that she can pass the exam to get into True Cross Academy (up until now she’s only been a part of the cram school). We get a flashback of a younger Yukio questioning Fujimoto about his and Rin’s existence, and Fujimoto gave the classic “you’ll understand when you’re older” answer. And then he died. Mephisto’s never been anything but evasive either, leaving Yukio with nothing but unanswered questions and a burning need to find out why he and Rin were allowed to live. Also, he gets all flustered around Shiemi and it’s pretty adorable.

HIGH SCHOOL FESTIVAL TIME! Yukio gets invited by Shiemi, but he turns her down. Shura intrudes after Shiemi leaves and prods Yukio into admitting a few things. He doesn’t believe that Shiemi likes him romantically, but he can’t think about any interests he might have in her because of all the crap he’s currently dealing with. It would only complicate things. Shura tells him to forget everything he heard and saw at the meeting, but how can he? Jumping right into the festival, Yukio is indeed a part of the staff, set to patrol over the course of the event while his students stay busy with their class projects. He spiffs up to chaperon the dance party, and it's a good thing, because Rin comes up with the most adorable way to temporarily smooth the edges of the little love triangle that's formed between Shiemi and the twins. He tries to snag Shiemi for a dance, realizes how unsure she is, and immediately drags her over to Yukio so that the three of them can all dance together. Yukio's not particularly enthused at first, but it seems to be a step in a calmer, less antagonistic direction. For the moment.

Unfortunately the moment can't last. An Illuminati spy is captured by Angel, revealing that one of Yukio's students, Izumo Kamiki, is a target meant to be kidnapped within the hour. Shura sends Yukio and the ExWires to search for her. Shima finds her first, with the rest of the class showing up just in time to learn that he's working with the Illuminati. Kind of a huge thing to process, right? Well, too bad, because Mephisto's crashing the party too, along with another demonic brother we've yet to meet until now. Lucifer, the King of Light and leader of the Illuminati, declares war on the True Cross Order. In one year's time the Illuminati plans to revive Satan in order to join Assiah and Gehenna together. Mephisto's none too pleased with this plan (the human world is just too much fun), but he allows Lucifer to retreat with Izumo and Shima (because apparently Lucifer is top dog, and even Mephisto can't handle that).

All Illuminati members present escape in a helicopter, a series of carefully placed explosions (suicide bombings by Seraphim from the Illuminati) following that take out the barriers keeping demons out of True Cross all over the world. Before preparing to regain control over the Japanese branch, Mephisto orders Yukio to lead the ExWires on a mission to rescue Izumo, promising to send backup once things at the branch are under wraps again. They're accompanied by Nemu Takara, an exorcist hired from a "third party", who apparently knows where they'll need to go and will act as a moderator for Yukio and his team.

Illuminati Arc
So they're on the road again! Takara is able to use some sort of summoned tracking device to trace Izumo to Inari in the Shimane Prefecture... which is kind of odd since that's where she's from in the first place, but whatever. They hop on a plane and Yukio fills his students in on the situation in general. Lots of damage to the Order, exterminating invading demons, handling the mass media. Even the Grigori were injured, so yeah, shit's kinda hit the fan. The existence of the Illuminati and what sort of organization it is is also covered, but that pesky contract Yukio signed means his explanations are pretty limited. And then everyone eats sandwiches that Shiemi brought for them. Terrible, terrible sandwiches.

Once off the plane they discover that buses and taxis are a bit hard to come by in their new location, and so begins a long trip on foot to the Inari Shrine. They make it without much fuss, only to discover that the whole place is a great big tourist trap. A tourist trap where all the tourists seem just a little too excited about things, and just a little too eager to stay. With some help from Takara and Mike (one of Kamiki's familiars, summoned by Takara through a puppet), they learn the truth behind Inari. The Kamiki family is a branch that obtained divine powers by interbreeding with a fox god. Izumo's mother was a chief priestess, and through some complicated stuff we don't really need to go into, she was possessed by the nine tails spirit. With no one else to turn to and no idea of their true intent, a young Izumo turned to the Illuminati for help. And they did help... at first, but capturing Izumo's mother was really just so that they could experiment on her in an attempt to gain the nine tails power. Izumo's current kidnapping was so that he could be used as a replacement for her now dying mother.

Yukio and company head for what they believe to be the secret entrance of the Illuminati lab (spoilers: it totally is). Yukio tries to call for some proper backup, but Mephisto gives him the shifty-ass runaround, so it's left to one exorcist and group of exwires to infiltrate alone. They do a fairly good job of it, even, taking out the initial set of guards and making it inside... of what seems to be a massive shopping mall. And then they're attacked by... zombies. Or, more accurately, failed experimental subjects that necrotized after demonic possession... which makes them zombies in the Blue Exorcist universe. There's barely any time for Yukio to give a lecture on how to kill the damn things before they're surrounded, but before a true fight can begin the floor opens up beneath them. The entire team ends up sliding down a large funnel and into a dark hole.

End chapter. Quickest mission fail ever.

Turns out the dark hole leads to "feeding chambers", and everyone gets their very own! How special. Gedouin, the crazy scientist responsible for the zombies above is also responsible for the giant chimera zombies kept in each chamber, and being separated, each of our heroes is responsible for keeping themselves alive. Yukio manages his zombie monster fairly easily, using its own accelerated healing against it in order to fuse it to the floor of the chamber. As he's trying to find a way out of the actual chamber, he gets receives a visit from (drum roll, please)... Lucifer. Seems the King of Light has been chatting with Toudou, and as such he's taken a great interest in Yukio. Enough of an interest that he actually offers Yukio a place in the Illuminati. After all, if the Order were to find out about his eyes, they'd probably lock him up, or maybe even kill him. The Illuminati is safety, and Lucifer can offer Yukio the truth behind his eyes and the circumstances of his birth. Yukio rejects the offer, and Lucifer leaves peacefully, insisting that they'll meet again and that Yukio has a weak heart. What a jerk.

Naturally, everyone manages their own escape, even if they don't actually defeat their zombie, but everything is still bananas. Gedouin still runs the operation to transfer the Nine Tails to Izumo. Unfortunately, she can't sustain the possession, but her dying mother uses the last of her strength to take the Nine Tails back, containing it and forcing it to perish along with her. Gedouin makes a last ditch effort to turn the tables by forcing a demon to possess and enhance him, but he's ultimately defeated and backup finally arrives to help them escape. We get some info on Shima's betrayal, but feels are had and life goes on. Shima even goes back to school while somehow retaining his double agent status (no, I don't know how that's works). He also seems to have a standing order to keep the pressure on Yukio, which isn't really hard considering the mental mess that kid already is, like... all the time.

Exorcist Exam Arc
The growing Illuminati threat and heightened demon activity caused by the artificial Gehenna Gate is taking a toll on the Order's manpower, and Yukio soon delivers the news that the exorcist exam is going to be held earlier than anticipated. While the exWires worry about that, we cut to Yukio at night, looking shady as hell while wandering around a condemned part of town. The Order's blood tests show no results, and he's not being possessed, so just what is it that's happening to his eyes? Sick of not only being stuck in the dark about the powers awakening inside of him, but of always being outdone by Rin, he's decided to heck with denial. It's time to trigger the awakening of his powers himself. Super smart, right?

And how were his powers triggered the first time? Well, it was during the fight with Toudou when he thought he would be killed, so that means he has to recreate that scenario. Fear. Moreover, fear while facing death. He makes his first attempt with Naiads, summoning eight of them and basically commanding them to drown him in a sphere of water. The trouble with that plan, of course, is that summoned demons rely on the power of their summoner, so when Yukio starts to lose consciousness? They disappear. That method can't work because, in the back of his mind, Yukio always knew there would be a chance of survival. It wasn't enough.

So he pretends not to be a suicidal crazy person for a few days before trying his next plan... which happens to involve jumping off a building. Which he does. Because he's an idiot and I have no idea why I like him so much.

The chapter ends with him mid-fall.

Inventory:
- glasses
- wristwatch
- clothes (dark pants and shirt, socks, boots, and a jacket)
- wallet (with normal ID, exorcist ID, and useless money, probably)
- cell phone

Personality:
Yukio’s first appearance paints a pretty simple picture. The younger of a set of fraternal twins, he’s Rin’s opposite in nearly everything. Where Rin is brash and loud, Yukio is generally quiet and polite. Where Rin is... well, kind of stupid, Yukio approaches a level near genius in his chosen fields. He’s generally serious and driven to succeed, achieving success through plain hard work and determination, all while wearing a kind smile.

His characterization is expanded on when we learn of his status as an exorcist and just what it took for him to get to where he is. Though he spent the majority of his early childhood in tears, fearing the creatures that he could see hiding in the shadows (the ones that even his older brother couldn’t protect him from), an invitation from his adoptive father turned all that around. Fujimoto gave Yukio the chance to fight alongside him, offering him the tools and training he would need so that he could, with time, succeed on his own merit. He could be the one to protect Rin from the monsters that would one day come for him. He would never have to live in fear of the dark again.

Of course, that sort of intensive training from such a young age takes a toll, but it was never something Yukio fought against. He embraced the lifestyle of the exorcist (though not quite as wholeheartedly as we’re led to believe at first), leaving any semblance of a normal childhood behind. He trained and studied from age seven to thirteen when he earned his Meister in both Doctor and Dragoon, all the while working his butt off in normal school to earn a scholarship to True Cross Academy. He also took over his father's job as the first-year lecturer in the exorcist cram school when he and Rin entered the Academy, all the while taking on missions where appropriate and applicable. Did I mention he only sleeps about four hours a night? Yeah... overachiever? You could say that. It’s amazing the kid finds time to eat.

Things changed a lot for Yukio when Fujimoto died. In spite of the secrets Yukio kept from Rin prior to their entrance to the Academy, the two of them always seemed to have a fairly normal sibling relationship, but their father’s death brought to light the real barrier between them. For a time Yukio blamed Rin for Fujimoto’s death, sure that he was the weakness in their father’s heart that allowed Satan the chance to take him over. Though sad and angry, he suppressed those feelings until Rin finally called him out on his emotional shenanigans. He unloaded on Rin, tossing out blame and even telling his brother to "please die"... but when push came to shove, he couldn’t harm his only remaining family. Even with Rin charging at him, sword drawn and flames blazing, Yukio couldn’t bring himself to fire his weapon. Fujimoto died to protect Rin, his son, and Yukio’s connection with his brother was and still is just as deep.

Their mended(?) relationship didn’t exactly loosen Yukio up, though. He’s rather strict (controlling, really) with his brother and with his students, insisting upon the importance of cooperation and responsibility. However, a deeper examination of his relationship with Rin, reveals an entirely different side of Yukio. Rin’s constant antics and careless decisions can draw out bouts of anger so intense that they border on frightening. He tries very hard to reign that part of himself in and usually regains his composure fairly quickly, but when a guy represses as much as he does? He’s bound to explode eventually. Shura inspires similar outbursts with her antagonistic attitude. He can’t stand to see those with so much natural talent waste it, especially when he had to work so hard to get the things he has.

That doesn’t mean he’s a complete stick-in-the-mud, though. He knows a joke when he hears one and likes to take the occasional good-natured (and sometimes not-so-good-natured) jab at his older brother when he can. He likes to read SQ manga every month and he’s even popular with girls, though not especially good at dealing with them (he totally has a crush on Shiemi, but he’ll likely never act on it). Overall, he’s quick-witted, calm and collected in a pinch, and a very likable guy.

Things seem pretty steady for a while until the Impure King Arc. Yukio's encounter with Toudou inspired something that he hasn’t felt so acutely in a very long time: fear. Fear and uncertainty concerning himself, his motivations, and his feelings toward his brother. Though he never spoke out against it, he’s always resented the loss of his childhood to his exorcist training. He’s had to work so hard and suffer so much just so that he could one day protect his older brother. He’s admitted that he both loves and hates Rin, but the person he hates the most? Is himself, for feeling the way he does. It’s his duty to protect Rin, but (as far as Yukio’s concerned) Rin doesn’t understand or even acknowledge the weight that Yukio carries (has always carried), and so... that resentment and self-loathing will continue to build. Consider the additional stress brought on by the first manifestation of what he assumes to be his own Satanic powers and it's no surprise that this arc is where Yukio's careful facade begins to crumble.

Some of the most recent canon has pushed what was extreme stress right off the edge of a cliff and into something close to actual insanity. Yukio's given up on the idea of rejecting whatever ties he may have to Satan, instead embracing the age old tradition of "fuck it". If no one's going to give him the answers, he'll find them on his own. If his powers are going to awaken, he's going to be the one to trigger them. He's going to make himself stronger, but he's going to do it on his own terms (or so he thinks).

He's taking charge of his own fate, but at the same time giving up on any chance at a human life.

While keeping everything hidden from anyone who could possibly help him, he goes as far as attempting suicide in hopes of drawing out his powers. His first attempt is a failed drowning, and his pull point for this application takes him from mid-fall after jumping off a building. Though he'll be entering the game without knowing his fate, the moments that follow his landing are a horrifying, but perfect example of Yukio's current frame of mind. He survives the fall and, upon realizing that he blacked out and so still has no proof of what his eyes can do, immediately puts one of his own guns to his head. He screams at himself, demanding that the "monster" show its "true form". A conveniently timed phone call is the only reason he doesn't pull the trigger, but more frightening than that? In only five or six rings of that phone, less than a minute, his mask is back on. He answers the phone. He goes home. He heads out on another mission with Rin the next day.

He'd just attempted suicide twice in one night, but is still able to keep those around him unaware. Those closest to him know that something's wrong, but no one knows just how bad it is. No one knows about the monster that Yukio views himself as or the destructive path that he's set himself on, and as long as he can maintain that mask? No one will know until it's far too late to help him.

At his core, Yukio is a creature of conflict. Truth and lies. Anger and calm. Love and hate. He is flawed and frustrated and afraid, everything you’d think a young man in his position would be, but he’s very, very good at hiding it. More than one person has warned him of the danger of bottling his feelings away, fearing he might become a demon by accident should he let his anger and resentment pile up, but so it goes. That fear has only built further over the last few arcs, especially in the most recent canon. Between unpredictable new powers, Illuminati plots, and a lifetime of unanswered questions, Yukio is sick of being kept in the dark. Canon is quickly dragging him to what will likely be a point of no return where he’ll either have all his questions answered, or the life he’s worked so hard to hold together is going to fall apart.

Or both.

Flavor Abilities:
The ability to pretend he's a healthy functioning adul-ahahAHAHAHAHA, no.

But seriously, he's got nothing. He's one hell of a marksman and a doctor, but any abilities he has/could potentially have beyond those would give him a significant advantage in survival, so they're all getting nixed.

Suitability:
Yukio's entering Snowblind in a very delicate state. Since the last thing he'll remember is jumping off a building, it won't take him very long at all to entertain the possibility that he actually managed to kill himself. How else do you explain waking up in an entirely different time and place? I'm assuming that it won't take very long for him to reconnect with Shiro, his incredibly deceased father, and that will only further cement the idea that he is, in fact, dead and trapped in some weird, cold Hell, but he's one of those weird characters who might actually be better off stuck in a winter wasteland with no connections to his home.

No pressure from the Order or the Illuminati will be a huge relief. The complete lack of supernatural abilities gets him right off the hook for all that Satan nonsense. With the world he was carrying on his shoulders all but left behind, he'll be focused on simple survival. He likely won't have much real drive initially, but as he meets more people he won't be able to resist jumping into some sort of caretaker role. He's a doctor, after all. Keeping other people alive and healthy is what he's trained to do for the majority of his life.

Of course, there'll be no avoiding dealing with all the mental baggage he'll be bringing with him. Yukio's great at pretending to be okay, but eventually he's going to have to deal with what he did and where he was heading prior to arrival. Even if he realizes he's not actually dead, he still left Rin behind to deal with everything on his own. Snowblind's setting will offer him a chance to get his head back on straight with proper help, but it's also going to exacerbate the issues he's already brought with him (specifically paranoia, obsession, and depression), and the balance he finds between those extremes will be what helps him decide whether or not he actually wants to go home.

Snowblind Network Post:

I'm beginning to think that there isn't a single reference or history book to be found in this place.

[And believe it, he's been looking. How could an area so large with so much evidence of past inhabitants not have a single written record of the past in it? Less importantly, but somehow just as motivating... Snow is boring. It's really boring. You know what else is boring? Nighttime. Sure, the ever present threat of horrific monsters and deadly winter keeps a person on edge for a while, but there's really only so long that that can keep you on edge before you get used to it. Desensitization. It happens.

Or it doesn't and you go insane a lot faster, so let's go with desensitization.

Yukio's not exactly the epitome of exciting most of the time, but even he can't spend every night just... sitting. All that'll do is lead you down a different path of crazy. Even with company, eventually you run out of things to talk about. Or maybe you're not willing to talk about all that much in the first place. Either way, night's going to fall, you're going to run out of things to explore in your hiding spot of the night, and you can only spend so much of that time sleeping, leaving you alone with just the howling wind and your own thoughts.]

Has anyone come across books that aren't for young children or completely destroyed?

[Please say yes. He needs a distraction.]

Inventory:
-His clothing (Long sleeved shirt and pants)

Personality:
Cecil, Rosa. I've no right to bare witness to your joy, not like this.

How do you sum up Kain Highwind easily? Patient, stoic. Persistent and stubborn to a fault. He's a quiet man with a big heart, but far too many issues to show the emotions he holds inside himself. Kain feels everything with overwhelming strength, yet cannot put it into words. Give him a chance, however and he has a tendency to spill his guts in a calm and confused fashion, questioning every word he does end up speaking.
It takes a lot, both physically and emotionally to knock Kain down. Aside from tiny slip ups where he'll reveal his innermost thoughts and feelings he isn't one to complain about his life. He keeps it all inside, hidden away in a little web of lies and secrets. He isn't one to trust, isn't capable of easily having faith in people. To form an emotional attachment is easy, to form a bond of trust with someone is something much more difficult. He's also very incapable of trusting himself. The idea that anyone would trust him can be very difficult for Kain himself to come to terms with, and often times he'll wonder why people care about him after all he's done.
Kain's current, biggest flaw is his inability to let go of the past. He has himself convinced he needs to throw away the past, abandon it, bury it six feet under; yet he's still not let it go. He cannot forgot the desires he so hated, his betrayals, a past of let down after let down, struggle after struggle. Kain is trying, but he's not forgetting. In a way he always lives in that past. Trying to destroy it, but still live up to who he was, too. Atone for his misdeeds, but still erase them from his life.
And that is where much of his struggle lies. Perceived incompetence, the fact he can't more on, can't forget, can't forgive himself for hurting the people he loves. Kain holds his flaws very close to heart, tearing himself apart with them. He seeks to overcome them, but still does not let them go. He dwells, he fears. Years of being second best, years of never living up to his father, being beaten out by Cecil, Kain has no confidence. He acts it, fakes the confidence, but he doesn't have it. That fact hasn't changed, almost since his father died.
Still he's a determined young man. What he lacks in confidence Kain makes up for in drive to see things to completion. When Kain's heart is set upon a task he works until completion, he doesn't give up until he's seen it through. Despite what he has done under Golbez's command Kain is a loyal friend and truly means well, wanting only the best for Cecil and Rosa. His actions can be strange, the morality or thought behind his actions cloudy, but Kain will do whatever it takes to see his loved ones safe.
Kain is a protector, willing to give up his life for what matters to him. He's led by his own moral code, ideas created by his short, messed up life. The war he just took part in shook much of what Kain knew to the very core and he's still picking himself up from the fall, finding all the pieces and putting himself back together. For two years he's been on a mountain, alone, just trying to come to terms with everything. He's doing it alone, because really, he has no idea how else to do it.

Flavor Abilities:
- Connection to Dragons and Wyverns
Has great skill with them, able to gauge their emotions and earn their trust easier than others. This allows him to communicate with them non-verbally.

Suitability:
While his survival skills aren't quite what they will be in the future, two years on the Mountain has still left Kain pretty aware of what he's doing. He knows what items he wants to keep, what can be used, how to use what and where to use it. In that respect he's a great deal more... aware, you could say, than the average joe. He's spent most of his life training, so physically speaking he's above average. He knows how to fight and is an expert in the art of combat, one needs to be to have been a commander in the Baronian army after all. He's been on a mountain for two years, so he's not exactly gonna be... great with interacting with people. He'll force it to the best of his ability, he'll go off what he remembers, but he's going to have a hard time. He's going to have issues dealing with large groups, and he's not gonna want to be around many people. Still he's going to make himself be around smaller groups or in pairs with people, and he's going to make himself communicate because of a perceived need by himself to communicate. He's going to be unbelievably uncomfortable, and he probably wont ever seem all there, but he's going to do it.
This being said, due to his moral compass and his need to prove himself to himself, if someone is in trouble Kain isn't going to leave them for dead. If he can he will help people. His own survival is of the utmost importance, he's going to take care of himself first in most situations, but if it's not likely to kill him and he can do the thing he's going to go the extra mile. I'll mention, Kain is unlikely to make use of the beacon. If the creatures that appear are something he can't beat... Kain isn't used to that. He's dealt with the idea of going into a battle where he's sure he'll die, but he isn't used to something he can't fight back against. Kain will do whatever it takes to avoid the creatures of Norfinbury, and if it means risking going a bit crazy? Well, he's seen some weird shit the past two years, he can handle that.
While I'm not entirely certain this would fit here, he often times has nightmares about killing his companions, most commonly Cecil. That'll be fun to experience here.

Action
Being locked out meant one thing, one absolute truth: You're going to die.
Why it never occurred to Kain he'd yet to figure out, he just kept walking through the cold, drawn on into the darkness. To any observers it might seem strange, and in his own mind it might have were he thinking. But still, led by voices Kain walked on. Faces hidden within the shadows, leering, mocking, laughing; yet on he walked. His jacket was pulled closer to his body, still Kain walked on, lost in the voice that called him farther into the trees; into the darkness where the moonlight could not reach.
"Where are you?" If he was going to die he may as well find his tormentor. Soon Kain found himself in a clearing, shadows around him from all sides. The shadows took shape, beings he recognized all too well, though longed to forget. The laughter, leering and mockery continued, sounding out around the man who was now quite lost in the sounds. "Zemus." If only he realized it was nothing more than hallucination that dragged him so far out into the cold, the laughing figures only hastening the inevitable.
"Where are you, Zemus?" He called out again, turning his attention away from the shadowy fiends and before himself again. And as he stared so did the man himself take shape, a shadow drawing into the air, taking form and color. A bald figure in dark robes, skin stained dark violet, perhaps by it's own darkness? The evil contained in the man's soul? Kain didn't know, and didn't much care, either. He'd like to question why this one was here, but who knew really what would and would not exist here in Norfinbury.
"Why are you-" Kain began to speak, voice harsh and calm but it was cut off. The shadow vanished, the figure it made up gone to reveal the trees behind him. "Zem-" And the wind blew, cutting off the words and taking the Dragoon's breath away. Stumbling backward, glancing about he reached for a tree branch to steady himself, struggling to draw in another breath. It was already too late, he knew. Soon Kain's grip faltered, he fell to his knees and the world went dark.

➝ an eyeball
➝ a box with a pocket watch and a picture of Felix and Sasha (which she hasn't opened yet)

Personality:
On Pandora, survival is the number one thing on most peoples’ minds. The planet is largely lawless, inhabited by the worst kinds of people and the worst kinds of monsters. Fiona and her younger sister Sasha were taken in at a young age by a con artist named Felix, who saw some potential in them and taught them everything he knew. The two girls followed in his footsteps, and Fiona has learned to read situations and people, and to predict every possible outcome. “Talking at people until they get confused” is Fiona’s greatest strength, and she is fully capable of manipulating people and conversations to her advantage. She can flit from persona to persona, tailoring her image to what will benefit her most, or what will get her mark to trust her. Having such a hardscrabble life has made Fiona incredibly opportunistic - she is completely willing to take someone’s savings from their house if they don’t secure it well, or even if they do, and pull the money from a dying man’s pocket.

There are few people Fiona considers family or friends, and it can be hard to get there. She was exceptionally suspicious of Rhys and Vaughn because they were from Hyperion, even longer than her sister, and was completely ready to kill them. Despite this, Fiona was willing to work with them in order to get the money they were after. She and Sasha saved their lives a few times and were quick to protect them, even though they were Hyperion douchebags and she didn't particularly like them. Largely, actions speak louder than words for Fiona - she won't fully allow herself to trust someone until they prove themselves to her. After the two stepped in at Hollow Point, Fiona realizes they might not be all talk and is quick to defend them and tell Scooter they're her friends.

Felix has told her over and over to trust no one, and her life on Pandora has underscored that, although she's never taken it fully to heart. Because of this, Felix betrays them and steals the Hyperion money just to drive that point home, as well as to protect them. Even then, Fiona can’t fully bring herself to condemn him or kill him. It’s clear, however, that she is deeply hurt by his actions and conflicted, although she focuses on her sister, telling Sasha that she has a right to be angry and that she believes Felix's reasons. She doesn't shut everyone out all the time, either. Fiona will go with her gut instincts about people, such as when she guessed correctly that Scooter wouldn't sell her and Sasha out.

Fiona’s role as an older sister has shaped her, and she is fiercely protective of Sasha. Sasha is definitely her weak spot, and Fiona has trouble sticking to the plan when her sister is threatened. This instinct extends to her friends, who she’ll protect even if she’s upset with. Fiona won’t go out of her way to screw over other people if there’s no reason for it, but when push comes to shove, she’ll protect her friends and her sister at the cost of anyone else.

Despite her questionable morals, Fiona is not cruel or malicious. Although she’ll fight if forced to, she far prefers talking her way out of sticky situations. Even when she does get her hands dirty, she often aims for nonlethal targets - stabbing a man in the hand, punching someone unconscious. While her sister loves guns and will shoot at a threat forever if you let her, Fiona carries a tiny gun that only holds one bullet at a time, and saves it for only the most dire of situations. When it comes down to it, Fiona will fight dirty and do anything she needs to to survive, especially if her sister is involved, but she doesn’t relish it. She is kind on multiple occasions, and willing to encourage or comfort someone if they’re truly hurting. A hard life witnessing violence and pain has killed any squeamishness she might have had, but while gore and bodies don’t phase her, she grieves the deaths of people she cares for deeply. Despite her natural sarcasm and often biting comments, she really is a friendly person. She does tend to keep walls up, though, keeping conversations with people she doesn't know well carefully impersonal and often staying distant during difficult, emotional conversations.

While Sasha tends to be more of a fiery person, Fiona tends to have a cooler head. She’s confident in her abilities and calm under pressure, able to smoothly talk herself out of trouble even with a gun to her head. She is (mostly) convincing in whatever role she takes, and isn’t one to painstakingly plan out things. Fiona will wing it if she has to, and her approach to most questionable situations is it’s fine! We’ll be fine! Don’t worry! When things go wrong, she doesn’t give herself time to freak out, and is great at making difficult decisions on the fly. Dwelling on things that go wrong isn’t her style, either; she’s almost always looking forward, constantly moving to stay alive. While she obviously has regrets, these aren't things she finds it useful to talk out or focus on for any longer than necessary.

Near constantly sarcastic, Fiona is the type to make fun of you whether she loves you or hates you. The only difference is if she’s teasing playfully or actively insulting someone. She’s also a complete dork, making lame jokes and even pointing finger guns at one point. With a flair for the dramatic, Fiona has no qualms “embellishing” a story to make herself look awesome, to make the story more exciting, or to make someone else look bad.

Flavor Abilities:
None! She's a normal human.

Suitability:
Growing up on murder planet has given Fiona a crash course in survival, and she's willing to con, cheat and steal her way to a meal. Since technology is pretty amazing where she's from, she's decent with it, but by no means impressive. She can follow instructions to fix a technical problem and knows her way (basically) around computers, but also thinks that yelling "enhance" is a legitimate computer command. She's great at getting herself out of tough spots and she tends not to let horrific occurrences cripple her. She'll likely hunker down, try to find as steady of a flow of supplies as possible, and protect whoever she gets close to.

Character Information

Name: Ellie
Canon: The Last of Us
Age: 14
Gender: Female
Canon Point: Middle of the Autumn chapter, after leaving Tommy's Dam headed for the University
Background Link: The wiki
Inventory:
  • Her Autumn chapter clothing (worn)
  • Her backpack (probably about the same size as pre-provided backpacks)
  • Her pistol + ammunition (taken from her)
  • Her switchblade (taken from her)
  • Her summer clothes (taken from her)
  • Probably a few cans of food (taken from her)
  • A few miscellaneous supplies that could be turned into other things - some scraps of fabric and bits of tape let's say
  • Three small joke books (No Pun Intended, No Pun Intended Too, and To Get to the Other Side)
  • A couple of Savage Starlight comics
  • Riley's Firefly pendant
  • Sam's Robot
  • A broken walkman
  • A letter from her mother

Personality:
For all of Ellie's fourteen years of age, she takes no shit, from anyone or anything. If someone's not being fair or putting up a front, she has few qualms on calling them out. Overall though, this is a tendency she exercises with impunity, including with figures who should be above her, leading to essentially authority problems. She frequently toes lines that Joel sets for her (outright ignoring them at times) - for example when he tells her to "repeat" an instruction he gave her, she refuses to repeat it word-for-word, but instead paraphrases it.

She's honestly a bit of a smartmouth - frequently responding with sarcastic quips, both in serious and non-serious situations. Generally speaking Ellie is not "quiet" unless she needs to be - more often than not she'll exclaim at some of the more brutal kills Joel makes throughout the game, or in more relaxed situations can be heard humming her own music to herself, or pulling out one of her books of lame puns. As another note, her language is one of the foulest in the game - she doesn't swear every other sentence, but particularly when angry, upset, or shocked, she uses swears pretty liberally.

Ellie does not like to be babied. Throughout the Summer chapter she argues with Joel repeatedly about being able to take care of herself and help him out in keeping them safe. This culminated in her taking matters into her own hands and saving Joel's live by taking Joel's gun and shooting a hunter that was trying to drown him. More than that, she proves to be very capable when he does allow her. It helps to have others with her, particularly Joel, but Left Behind and the Winter chapter prove that, when push comes to shove and she's the only one there, she can be remarkably self-sufficient in taking care of herself and others too, especially in the very harsh kill-or-be-killed world that The Last of Us is.

That's not to say she's immediately wary or suspicious. As a matter of fact, as of her canonpoint, she's still reasonably willing to reach out to others, to accept help and work with them, even give them the benefit of the doubt. She's the one who initially proposes working together with Henry and Sam, and defends them to Joel during the disagreement after Henry and Sam abandoned them near the bridge at Pittsburg, but then saved them from the drowning in the river.

Beneath all the attitude and bluster though, there's a girl who's been through a lot, seen a lot. Ellie knows full well the burden of surviving, seeing those around you who don't. Between her best friend (and more) Riley, Tess, Henry and Sam... Ellie has a very deep-hidden but powerful strain of survivor's guilt. Stubbornly pursuing her goals is how she covers it up, finding a cause and fighting for it. But as she tells Joel at the end of the game, she's still waiting for "her turn," and doesn't want everything that everyone suffered on their journey to be for nothing, indicating a sense of responsibility. And certainly a willingness to die, if not an outright death wish at times.

When angry or upset, Ellie can be particularly impulsive and hotheaded, including ignoring previous instructions and advice. She attacks and shouts down Bill when he handcuffs her and nearly attacks Joel, blatantly ignoring that he told her to let him do the talking. Likewise, when she finds out about Joel's plan to drop her off in Tommy's hands and leave her during the Fall chapter, she takes one of the horses and runs off in frustration, causing him to chase after her and forcing him to confront her.

There are some ways that she still very much is a 14 year-old, albeit one that grew up in a very different world. She's very curious, even nosy, constantly asking Joel questions about himself, about the world around her. She shows awe at seeing new things she hasn't had the chance to experience before - such as walking through a forest, the giraffes during the Spring chapter, or even her first sunrise outside the Boston Quarantine Zone. And above all else, Ellie is a survivor, willing to do all she can to see her goals through. She's not someone who will give up easily, or should be underestimated.

Flavor Abilities: Her immunity to the Cordyceps Brain Infection (basically the human cordyceps fungus), which'll do jack shit since it isn't present in game.

Suitability: This girl is such a fucking survivor that even Joel comments on it by the end of the game. She will fight tooth and nail to stay alive despite the odds. And having grown up in a post-apocalyptic environment... well, the primary difference between that and Norfinbury is the snow.

From a different angle, one of Ellie's own biggest self-admitted fears is being alone. She goes off on her own when the one person she trusts might leave her. I think a lot of Snowblind's themes - isolation, psychological horror - might be really fun to explore with her and she has a lot of potential for character growth and development in the environment.

----------

[You found the oddest things in houses. Not even the usual mix of hastily abandoned shit gone dusty or moth-eaten or rotted or whatever, then picked through a thousand times by scavengers that she was used to finding. In some places you got lucky. Others, not so much. Today's house was... a mix. The comb and paper clips weren't exactly great, but there was a can of food and the candle could come in handy too.

Ellie slips her finds into her backpack, keeping an eye out for anything else that might be of use. That was the other odd thing. She'd been to this house not long after she got here, and she could have sworn she'd cleaned it out then. And yet here she was, with a bunch of new finds having gone through it all over again. This place just kept getting weirder by the second.

On the frustrating side of things, it also meant they couldn't mark off a place as being cleared out, or not having anything of use for figuring this place out. If it was always changing... No. She'd figure it out. They'd figure it out. They were going to get back. There was too much left undone back home, all of it important.

Maybe it's a noise - she's not as good as Joel at listening to her surroundings, but still pretty good if she say so herself. Or maybe a change in the air's movement, but she realizes she's not quite alone. She looks over her shoulder, shifting herself into a crouched position, ready to move if need be.]

Hello? [Her eyes sweep the room.] Who's there?

[For all the ease in her words she's still cautious, waiting until whoever it is reveals themselves as friendly or not.]

Character Information

Name: Luna
Canon: Zero Escape - Virtue's Last Reward
Age: She is an AI programmed fifteen years previous at best; Physically, she appears to be in her twenties.
Gender: Female
Canon Point: Luna END (Magenta > A > Green > A > A), post-death
Background:
General background and canon point specific background (through Luna End).
Inventory:
- This outfit.
- A birdcage necklace with a functioning music box in the bottom.

Personality:
A gentle and compassionate soul, Luna appears as little more than a wallflower at first glance, housing a surprising complexity of emotion once someone takes the time to speak to her. While her altruistic nature tends to lead her into uncomfortable situations from time to time, her simple way of finding pleasures and happiness around her, as well as how she attempts to keep the peace as best she can regardless of her own fears or disappointments, makes her a sweet and likeable person for many that she speaks to. It's an easy concept to understand, if not for one crucial fundamental: she is not human. Luna is an Artificial Intelligence - a GAULEM (General-purpose Autonomous-Control Labor Electronic Machine), programmed and operated under the control of masterminds. Despite this, she shows a complexity of emotions, dreams and self-awareness that make one wonder how much machine one has to be to still have a heart as genuine as any living person.

A GAULEM, just as any other AI or robot, does not have true autonomy. In their core programming, past every nuance and detail, lies the Three Laws of Robotics. These laws supersede any other order given or conclusion made by the AI, in order to keep them orderly and obedient. The laws are as follows:
  • A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
  • A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
  • A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws.

Luna herself was programmed under these same laws, working as a pawn under the supervision of Akane Kurashiki, the co-leader of an antiterrorist group known as Crash Keys, and Dr. Sigma Klim, a genetic engineer as well as the man who specifically programmed her AI. While she is shown to sometimes openly question some of the purposes of her orders, especially under Akane, Luna stays obedient to what she is instructed - to stay an observer, direct the participants of Akane's Nonary Project down the correct paths, and to dispose of certain variables as needed outside of the participants' awareness. It cannot be said, however, that she has to follow these orders.

During her death, she reveals to Sigma that, despite her instructions and even a mandatory shutdown of her body, Luna was still able to intentionally defy her orders, hacking into a mainframe forbidden to her, turning herself back on and helping to rescue what little participants she could. She had the ability to disobey - a rogue process that, in the end, cost her her sense of self through complete deletion. Though she knew this and openly voices her fear of what awaits her as consequence, she still acknowledges the complexity of her decision. By being deactivated, even though she was logically able to understand its purpose, she was faced with the contradiction that she had to watch humans die without being able to stop it. That is, she deliberately broke the First Law. It was only in her disobedience that, while breaking the Second and Third Law, Luna was able to make a decision that felt right to her, rather than one that benefited her direct orders or the hierarchy of her fellow AIs.

It's this line between machine and self-guided consciousness that Luna always treads. Never one to speak openly about her true nature, Luna instead chooses to spend her energy for the sake of others. Licensed under a basic range of medical care and open to a wide database of information, she quietly acts as a support for a variety of situations, taking another's orders without argument and doing her best to keep the status quo. Her words are always kind, sometimes taking a quietly profound or intelligent turn if the need arises. Even the times where she becomes upset or hurt over someone's actions, she still remains soft-spoken, keeping cross words to a minimum and making as little of a fuss as necessary. More often than not, she would rather act as a voice of encouragement, helping people through indecision or acting as a voice of reason during particularly heated conversations. She even goes as far as being the blunt man out, urging people to quit arguing and reach a decision for the sake of a time limit or dangerous outcome. Others' decisions always tend to come first before her own, something she happily follows along with unless she somehow finds herself in danger because of it. It's not a situation she ever wants to find herself in, even if she straight up denies what might be in front of her, but her connection to people and their overall happiness is far too important to her.

At heart, she wants to be able to put her trust in the people that surround her, even ones that show themselves to be questionable in motive. While this can make her a pushover at times, she is far from stupid, often voicing her suspicion in a hesitant way when she catches on that someone may be deceiving her. But as long as someone can adequately convince her that their reasoning is sound, she often forfeits her own discomfort to give someone else the benefit of the doubt. Her patience isn't unending, but she will hardly say no to anyone in need of her without good reason to think otherwise. People are the sole reason for existence, after all - she just chooses to not only think the best of them, but to give them opportunities to show that they can be resourceful and trustworthy.

This has its downsides, of course. Luna may be intelligent and logically driven, but her drive to help others puts her in positions to be easily taken advantage of. During the Project's Nonary Game, in which she participated as an observer, she always had the option to betray her partners and keep herself safe. Regardless of her partner, however, Luna never chooses this option - in fact, she is the only character to do so, sometimes repeatedly with the same individuals, often in someone else's favor.

Her trusting nature doesn't go unnoticed, even by her. While she would not consider it a weakness, she does outwardly show that a break of that trust damages her emotionally. She becomes hurt, questions others' reasoning, and even degrades herself for choosing what she did if it led to a horrible outcome. Her reactions can border on touchy, depending on her company, but any time she's betrayed shows a sensitivity to someone breaking bonds with her. It doesn't take long to form those bonds with Luna from her perspective - she would consider someone a friend rather quickly, and to be told otherwise would be equivalent to a slap in the face. On the same lines, she can easily guilt someone else for their decision against her or someone else, especially if she has emotional involvement in the outcome. She accomplishes this in subtle, quiet ways, sometimes on the verge of tears as she does so, but she's not afraid to speak her mind if she really feels hurt about a situation.

On top of this, her robotic nature also gives her a natural ability to stay deceitful. She hides her true nature, feigns naivety, lies by omission, and even stubbornly refuses to answer questions, all for the sole sake of her orders. While she hides this behind gentle apologies and a shyness that borders on awkward, her ability to disobey gives her every chance to speak her mind, should she really wish for it. It is only under direct request, after a strained debate otherwise, that Luna finally relinquishes her act and tells the truth about as much as she is able before her own death. In other situations, depending on the outcomes of her reaction, she would not be inclined to budge.

Though her goals are seemingly straightforward and easy to predict, Luna still voices creativity in her thought processes. She imagines scenarios all on her own of reasons for their capture, even going as far as to say rich men might be watching them from a far off theater as they gloat around brandy and caviar. She grows repeatedly flustered around Dr. Klim, a man she has an unrequited crush on - she even goes as far as writing her personal passwords in his honor. She speaks warmly about nature and the color green, of wedding dresses, of passion and love and belonging to another person. She also speaks about fear - as mentioned above, in the knowledge of her disobedience causing her deletion, Luna seeks comfort in her last moment, afraid of losing herself. She acknowledges another's embraces feeling pleasant and comfortable, wanting to stay there forever. She's extremely sentimental, keeping memories and treasured things very close to her - an example being a pendant given to her by Dr. Klim himself. While not a romantic gesture, Luna still held it with consistent importance, finding it as a symbol for her to continue to look for her own happiness.

It's that search for happiness that ultimately defines her. Even with her limitations in her mimicry of a functioning human being, her goals never lose their value. Whether she finds it in the moment on her own free will, or chooses to focus her energy on helping the people around her with her knowledge or gentle demeanor, Luna still continues to seek what makes her happy. That, in itself, becomes her happiness - something that she would never give away, even at the risk of death.

Flavor Abilities:
- Lack of a nervous system. Only a slight ability at best. Prolonged exposure to cold would still do reasonable damage to joints and circuitry, and physical damage would handicap/kill her based on its location and how it affects her power supply and internal processors. In similar effect, she will also have a basic organ system for the purpose of eating, drinking, and retaining nutrition (as discussed here) - she will bleed white Artificial Biological Tissue fluid rather than blood, but as the ABT fluid serves the same purpose as the circulatory system, the effect would still be the same as a human bleeding out.

- Ability to connect and communicate with other AI or computer-based programs - this is entirely situation-based and never a guaranteed success, but if she could manage to connect a port between herself and, say, a tablet, she may try. This also has all the downsides of, say, connecting to harmful computers without a firewall, or having a computer on during a power surge. She is not immune to viruses or shortouts caused by this ability.

Suitability:
Luna herself has been in a psychologically horrific environment before, but never as an unwilling subject. So, while it's not necessarily a new experience in theory, her new role will be a challenge. Since she follows the Laws of Robotics and, thus, must not harm a human or allow a human to come to harm due to inaction, her main priority will be as a protector of the people around her to the best of her ability. Self-preservation will take priority only when another person is not put at risk from doing so. Because of her separation from the quantum computer on Rhizome-9, her power supply and processing ability will be limited, giving her room for frustrations and the need to rely on others to help her.

Furthermore, since she will be more humanized than her canon state, she will also be dealing with a brand new range of sensations and feelings. While this will be overwhelming to her, her priorities at heart will stay the same, since they are all she's ever known. Prioritizing others to the point of death, as unhealthily altruistic as it may lead, is what guides Luna. Despite her own condition, she will desire to keep in constant touch with others, even the questionable and cruel among them, and will go out of her way to keep as many of them safe as possible.

Character Information

Name: John Watson
Canon: Sherlock
Age: Late 30s/early 40s
Gender: Male
Canon Point: After the end of Season 2 (the Reichenbach Fall)
Background Link: Wiki Link
Inventory:
  • 1 pair of work boots
  • 1 pair of blue jeans
  • 1 plaid, button-down shirt
  • 1 black sweater
  • 1 black coat (to replace the one that the admin usually hands out)
  • 1 leather belt
  • 1 mini-torch and attached keyring
  • 1 set of keys
  • 1 wallet with Clinic ID, driver's license, credit cards, and the like
  • 1 mobile phone
  • 1 SIG Sauer P226 (absent the magazine and absent the firing mechanism, making it a sentimental, but ultimately useless gun)

Personality:
John Watson is a regular English bloke. It’s how he thinks of himself and how most people who meet him in passing would describe him. He likes having a pint with the lads at the pub, tea, and the occasional night in for a James Bond marathon. In dealing with others, he’s patient, inquisitive, and polite provided they extend him the same courtesy. Even when they don’t, the military and a flatmate who has acted with all the maturity of a 5-year-old on a sugar high have trained him to at least keep his temper in check when there are more important things to be dealt with. He will make his displeasure known – usually in as snarky a tone as possible – but he will do what’s required of him if the situation is truly pressing (e.g. Helping to look for clues in a murder case even after he’s just had a major clash with his flatmate on world views and morality). Due to this attitude and a general propensity to follow orders, John comes off as somewhat submissive. He is to a degree, but he will typically only defer to those he respects or views as superiors in some context. He has no problem pulling rank when there is an opportunity and (in his view) a need to.

Even though there are very few situations John will allow to faze him for any extended period of time, he is a man of emotion, especially compassion. He is pathos incarnate. He always looks for the human element in any situation and has a talent for reading and charming others when he decides to do so. He relies on humor and not a bit of cheekiness to diffuse tension and build bonds. This helps with his bedside manner as a doctor and in drawing information from others he might encounter. He truly enjoys engaging people. He started writing a blog as part of his post-war therapy and it morphed into the stories of his flatmate’s crime solving. It was a way to share his experiences and to show the world the ‘real’ side of Sherlock Holmes, a man known for living and breathing on pure logic.

John is generally optimistic, loyal, and has faith in other people, especially those he counts as friends. Though, actually making friends with him can be challenging at times, even when he acts friendly; John is a relatively guarded man with his emotions around most people. This way of thinking and viewing the world can be as much a hindrance as help. He has several varying responses depending on the circumstances and can become visibly flustered and frustrated when he has to deal with things like uncooperative technology, his flatmate’s more disturbed moments, or his alcoholic sister. He will typically respond by shouting when dealing with machines, fully displaying his disappointment in his body language and tone when dealing with his flatmate (or others he's friends with), or withdrawing and putting up a wall with his sister. His relationship with his sister, Harry, is particularly important to him and indicative of how he deals with personal conflict in relation to those with whom he is very close. He will build a wall, but even then, he's willing to reconcile and believe that people change. He's given Harry more than one 'last second chance.'

In spite of his optimism and 'stiff upper lip' British attitude, John has suffered from some severe psychiatric disorders including a psychosomatic limp and ongoing problems related to PTSD, specifically issues trusting people, and explosive anger. These have shaped the way he thinks about himself as the symptoms all but disappeared once he was engaged in a dangerous and active pursuit. He’s come to realize that while he might not be quite to Sherlock's level, he is an adrenaline junkie, and he can’t stand the comfortable stability of a 9-5 job for extended periods. He needs stimulation, and works best under pressure, in battle. In the first episode, one of his initial exchanges with Sherlock ran such:

Sherlock: Seen a lot of injuries, then? ...Violent deaths?
John: Yes.
Sherlock: Bit of trouble, too, I bet.
John: Of course, yes. Enough for a lifetime... far too much.
Sherlock: Want to see some more?
John: Oh God, yes.

Without that stimulation and 'trouble,' he tends to have nightmares, psychosomatic pain and tremors, withdraws in on himself and can become depressed and paranoid.

Most of all, John just needs people and he needs purpose beyond something typical. He felt well and truly alone and adrift after he was honorably discharged from the Army. Sherlock took him and gave him something to do that was fun, exciting, and just a little mad. That is the kind of thing that brings him to life.

Pulling him from where I have, he's also still dealing with the loss of his closest friend who was lambasted by the press, painting Sherlock as a fake genius and criminal. John's a bit quieter and fallen back into some of his bad habits of withdrawing and distrusting others, but he's doing much better than when he initially met Sherlock.

Flavor Abilities: None.

Suitability: John is an army doctor and thrives in dangerous and difficult situations. He's also picked up a bit of Sherlock's sleuthing habits and skills over the course of their acquaintance. While he's no master detective, he'll be trying to sort out the puzzles in Norfinbury, eager to get to the bottom of things and try to connect with people like the ADMIN and Winter on a more human level in the hopes that they'll be able to help. He's also very much a field medic who is used to using just about anything to hand to do what needs doing for an injury. I would like to get him into the position of treating someone in Norfinbury with whatever random items are available and either having that go miraculously well or horribly wrong. He'd also be interested in assisting with the efforts to corral the Dangerous Criminals of Snowblind. Jack and Joker wouldn't be the first psychopaths he's dealt with.

Character Information

Name: Alfie Solomons
Canon: Peaky Blinders
Age: Unknown; looks to be in his late thirties or early forties
Gender: Male
Canon Point: post-2x06, "Episode Six"
Background Link: Have a wiki link! It's pretty sparse, so I'll give you an additional run-down of my own for good measure:

Alfie comes from a powerful crime family, and is the current head of a Jewish gang in 1920s London. Their primary income comes from illegal bookmaking at horse-racing tracks, but they also make and sell rum illegally to disreputable businesses, and offer protection from other gangs to those who pay them. By his first appearance on the show, his gang is at war with a rival Italian gang, and they're losing - largely because Alfie doesn't trust the police and refuses to pay them off in exchange for their protection, something that the Italian gang leader, Darby Sabini, has no qualms about doing. Things are further strained because of racial tension - Sabini commonly makes anti-Semitic comments about Alfie and his men, and Alfie's own stories about being brutal towards Italian soldiers during the first world war likely don't help things either.

This is the climate that Tommy Shelby, a Birmingham gang leader, steps into. When he and his men stage an attack against Sabini's gang that Alfie takes notice of, Alfie invites Tommy to come over for a talk. Tommy frankly informs Alfie that he needs help if he wants to win his gang war, and offers to ally their two gangs together. Though initially dismissive of the idea - especially since Tommy wants to start paying off members of the police force - Alfie eventually comes around. But despite their alliance, they very much remain two separate and distinct gangs, and Alfie clearly expects his to remain top dog. When Tommy and his men start becoming too autonomous, taking over clubs and making moves without Alfie's prior permission, Alfie and Sabini arrange a secret meeting to discuss the situation. They agree to broker a truce between the Italians and the Jews in order to take down the Birmingham gang; in addition, it's agreed that Alfie's bookmakers will be allowed to operate on the racetracks that Sabini controls.

While pretending to still be on their side, Alfie invites two of the Birmingham gang members - one of them Tommy's older brother - over to his warehouse to celebrate a traditional Passover Seder. He tells them the story behind Passover, and announces that it's tradition to sacrifice a goat in representation of killing the Egyptian pharaoh who had enslaved the Jewish people - a man who had, in Alfie's words, "pushed [his] fucking luck". He informs the Birmingham gang members that this year, he's named the sacrificial goat Tommy Shelby - and immediately, the Jewish gang attacks, followed quickly by the Italians bursting in to help. One of the Birmingham members ends up shot to death, while Tommy's brother is framed for his murder and hauled away by Sabini-allied police.

This alliance is even shorter than Alfie's original alliance with the Birmingham gang. Sabini ends up breaking his promise to allow Alfie's bookies back on the racetracks, and tensions flare up once more. Tommy shows up at Alfie's place again, Alfie arranges the release of his brother from prison, and after a tense negotiation of terms (and more than a few very serious death threats), they agree to renew their alliance against the Italians. The season ends not long after this meeting, so how long they'll actually stick to it this time is, as of yet, unknown.

Inventory:
- a wool coat
- a top hat
- boots (good for walking, but not so good for warmth or the snow)
- everyday clothes - a button-down shirt, a thin vest, trousers, underwear, socks
- pince-nez glasses (used for reading), strung on a gold chain
- two braided metal gold bracelets
- five gold rings, three of them simple bands and two of them large and heavy with flat faces
- A thin but sturdy wooden cane

Some of these (the rings, the glasses chain, and the cane especially) are things that he would absolutely weaponize in lieu of any better options, so if that makes any of them violate the "no weapons upon arrival" policy, let me know and I'll say they wouldn't come along with him after all!

Personality:

As his background shows, Alfie Solomons is not someone to be trifled with. He's very involved in the gang lifestyle and in criminal activities in general, and he's both capable of and willing to use violence to accomplish his goals whenever he deems it necessary. He's not lawless, but he very much follows his own set of rules, and he doesn't much care if the rest of the world disagrees with his judgements of what is and isn't acceptable. Really, he's as much a businessman as he is a criminal (albeit a businessman who might pull a gun on you while you're meeting with him). He's a seasoned negotiator, he has an actual office where he does actual crime-related paperwork, and his gang has a lawyer on retainer. His wars are fought with words and deals as much as they're fought with guns on the streets.

Despite this, he's not very talkative most of the time. Part of it is because he's just not a very friendly person, but it can also serve as an intimidation tactic - when he puts his poker face on and goes tight-lipped, it's extremely hard to guess what he's really thinking, and he likes it that way. He’s certainly capable of being polite when he wants to be, and he'll sometimes use it to his advantage when he has an ulterior motive - once, when greeting a man who he’s planning to frame for murder, he’s even downright sociable, all smiles and shoulder-pats and smalltalk. And he can change on a dime, too - he'll go seamlessly from congenial to sinister (or the other way around) in no time flat, and neither one seems false in him. It's easy to mistake him for being capricious, but he actually isn't. When he's in Big-Time Gang Leader mode, every move, every word, and every change in tone or mood is carefully calculated and chosen to try to elicit the type of reaction he's looking for. He actually has incredibly good control over his temper. He'll yell at people sometimes, or even physically attack them, but it’s always very methodical and deliberate. When he shows his anger, it's because he wants to - to intimidate, or to punish, or to gain the upper hand - and never because he loses control. Interestingly, when he's just making threats of violence, he'll usually do it very casually - he says "I'm going to shoot you in the face" in the same tone that most people say "I'm going to have you over for tea". He actually tends to be rougher with his own allies (including his underlings in his gang, when they displease him) than he does with his enemies, because he has higher expectations of them and depends on them more. Alfie being harsh with somebody is a sign that he's invested in them to some extent - they're not someone that he can simply scoff at and walk away from.

It can be difficult to say how Alfie will interact with people who aren't gang-related. He says he doesn't like or trust the police, but we never see how he is with regular citizens - those who aren't criminals, and who aren't law enforcement - in the show. However, all the gangs that have been shown (Alfie's included) seem to typically work with and target each other rather than civilians. Those who get caught in the crossfire are usually people or businesses who have allied themselves - either overtly or tangentially - with one gang or the other, rather than those who are completely unconnected to the criminal underworld. Therefore, in Norfinbury, I think he'd be much less likely to bother anyone who sincerely wanted to go about their lives without running into any trouble. But anyone who he earmarked as involved, even just by virtue of who and what they are (generally fellow criminals and shady people, for the most part), would be fair game, as would anyone who made a point of investigating or trying to stop any of the misdeeds he might get up to.

Finally, it's definitely worth noting Alfie is quite Jewish both religiously and culturally. He somehow manages to reconcile his faith with his gang activity, and it's something that he takes seriously. He celebrates the holidays while wearing traditional garb (a yarmulke and a prayer shawl), and he clearly feels a strong sense of connection with his people, both with regards to his ancestral ties and with those he knows in the present day. He would be very aware of the fact that nobody in Norfinbury is really his - he didn't grow up with them, they're not a part of his community, and they don't share the same history or blood - but if he develops close CR, he may still subconsciously apply intra-gang dynamics to them. The gangs of Peaky Blinders have a definite air of looking out for their own - as much as they're willing to break their alliances with other gangs, relations within a gang are generally quite loyal, and the family and loved ones of members are looked after (even, or maybe especially, if the member in question dies). Alfie has the potential to be a formidable enemy or an unpredictable, ultimately untrustworthy ally - but still, given the right circumstances (meaning, if he were actually genuine about it, and in it for the long haul as opposed to just forming an alliance of convenience), he wouldn't necessarily be a bad person for someone to have at their side.

Flavor Abilities: n/a

Suitability:
Alfie's first priority will be figuring out a way to make Norfinbury work for him. He's smart enough to know that trying to operate exactly the way he did at home wouldn't work - both the setting, his (lack of) resources, and the people are just too different for that. I could definitely see him trying to get into organized supply racketeering, or at least occasional forced trade on a one-on-one level (“You give me this thing I want in exchange for this thing I don't want, or I'll make things hard for you”), but unless he really clicks criminally with a group of people, he'll be more likely to focus on looking out for himself rather than try to do anything like form a new gang. He'll still network quite a bit, figuring out how he's likely to want to relate to various people (as a full-on enemy, as a dangerous person who could easily kick his ass, as a potential short-term ally, as somebody to leave alone, etc.). Unless he forms close CR that he might consider worthy of his true loyalty, he'll be out for himself above and beyond anything else. He'll form alliances or join traveling groups if it benefits him, but he'll have no qualms about breaking away from them if he decides that something else will benefit him more.

Alfie has only been in Norfinbury for two weeks, but the man he's trailing after now is even newer. His name is Johnson, and he's a loudmouth. From the way he talks on the network, he's a criminal of some sort at home too, though Alfie would bet fifty pounds that he's not a serious one - he robs people of their petty change on the street, maybe, or commits assault in pubs. No, Johnson is just a silly kid - twenty-five at most, and in it for the thrill. So why not give him a little taste?

It's taking him far too long to realize that Alfie is following - another point against him. So Alfie starts whistling a cheery tune, and the man finally turns around. "What do you want?" he asks, suspicious and on guard. Alfie stops walking, spreading out his arms in a who, me? gesture.

"Just out for a stroll, mate. Getting the blood moving in the cold weather." He starts forward again, casually and slowly. "But see here - I couldn't help but notice you've got quite a lot of food in that there pack of yours, yeah?"

"What of it?" Johnson snaps, tightening his grip on the strap of his bag. Alfie clucks his tongue.

"No, no, no - don't mistake me. I'm not here to steal from you. I just thought we could work up a bit of a trade. You see--" He sets his own bag down on the ground, rummaging through it. "I've got this nice set of gloves." He holds them up so Johnson can see. "Extra. I don't need 'em, 'cause I already got a pair. And I've got this." He puts the gloves back in the bag and pulls out a half-rotted piece of floorboard, about a foot and a half in length. "Are you the handyman sort? I'm sure somebody could use it."

"I'm not," says Johnson - but he's relaxing a little, and there's less snap in his voice. "Look, man, I don't wanna trade for your shit. Find your own food, okay?"

"Now, the way I see it." Alfie takes a step closer, body language still loose and relaxed. “You do have twice as much food as I have. That is a fact. But if you don’t like my terms, well then, that’s fair. I’m a fair man. We can renegotiate." He lifts the floorboard again - this time, turning it around and revealing that one side has a bunch of rusty-looking nails sticking out of it. "How about you give me half your food, and I won’t smash your fucking face in with this here fucking nail-board?" he says, just as amicable as can be.

Alfie doesn't kill him. He hadn't been planning to in the first place - this time, he just wanted to give him a couple of good whacks and leave him bloody. But good old Johnson, it turns out, has a trick up his sleeve. When Alfie moves in with the board, he pulls out a kitchen knife, catching Alfie in the side with it. It's not a serious cut, but it's enough to make Alfie grunt in pain, and lose a little bit of his upper hand. They grapple for a bit, and Johnson is able to get a few more good jabs in before Alfie hits him hard over the head with the board and sends him sprawling - not unconscious, but dazed enough that he won't be getting up for a minute or two.

Moving gingerly, with a hand pressed over the wound in his side, Alfie makes his way over to Johnson's bag. "Now - I know we discussed one-half, but I'll be taking three-fourths of your food," Alfie tells the other man. "For my troubles." He transfers the rations over to his own bag, then kicks the remains over towards Johnson. "You'll be wanting to get that head looked at, mate," he says conversationally. "I expect you'll have a good lump."

Then he shoulders his bag, and walks away - limping and trying to staunch his bleeding wound, but still whistling that same little tune.

network sample

Right. This here.

[Alfie holds a plum-sized reddish fruit up to the screen, holding it there for a good five seconds before pulling it away.]

This is a pluot.

[He's not entirely sure he's pronouncing that right - ploo-awt - but all he had to go on was the name written on the grocery store's display. Oh, well.]

And I've got ten of 'em. It's fruit; I'm sure it's delicious. Valuable. And I wanna trade 'em, right, for a straight razor.

[He brushes his chin with his fingers.]

The beard gets wild.

[Also, razors are good for cutting people, if that becomes necessary. He doesn't feel comfortable here without a weapon, at least to defend himself with.]

I'm gonna bury them in the snow, so they'll keep for a while. But they won't keep forever, and so I will be giving them to the first person who offers me my razor in return - or something of comparable value. To be negotiated. If you don't have anything worth offering, then don't waste my fucking time.

[He gives a sharp nod--]

There; that's it, then.

[-- and turns off the feed.]

Character Information

Name: Royce Melborn
Canon: Riyria Revelations / Riyria Chronicles
Age: Late twenties, early thirties
Gender: Male
Canon Point: Book IV, The Emerald Storm, a day after Royce and Hadrian board the ship.
Background Link: Here because the wiki sucks at explaining the plot. This is about as brief as it gets!
Inventory: Royce will be wearing a fitted black cloth shirt, fitted black cloth pants, black leather gloves and black boots, as well as a long black cloak with a hood that he likes to hide in. He'll also have a belt that usually carries his dagger Alverstone, except Alverstone obviously won't be there. Other items include a leather pouch full of gold coins, and his lockpicking kit.

Personality:

Royce is an orphan who grew up on the streets of one of the dirtiest, lowest, crime-filled cities in Elan, which should give one somewhat of an insight into the way he turned out as an adult. His earliest memory is fighting a dog for a piece of bread when he was six, and life didn't get much better from there. Royce didn't live as a child; he survived, clawed his way to any semblance of stability, and each time he did, that stability was yanked out from underneath him. It's soured him to believe in the worst of people.

Royce doesn’t like to talk about himself much, but the books do give us some significant insights on Royce as a character through how other characters describe him. Arcadius, a character in the books who knows Royce decently well, mentions that Royce "... doesn't make friends easily, and doesn't make it easy to be his friend." That is absolutely true. Royce is paranoid, suspicious and distrustful of just about everything he comes across, especially other living beings. Royce does not trust people enough to turn his back to them, let alone attempt relationships. He does not like people, and he doesn't especially think highly of their intelligence, either. He's rude and blunt, not intentionally, but just because he doesn't really care what other people think of him. Similarly, he's not shy about letting people know what he thinks of them. Royce is quick to remind everybody he knows that people are always looking for the best way to serve themselves, especially to people like Hadrian, his much more optimistic partner. He expects people to be rude, self-serving, and ready to throw anybody under the bus in order to get what they want, and he expects this of all people, from children to adults to peasants to nobles. It's only natural that this sort of preconceived idea is going to make people more likely to dislike him off the bat, too, so it's sort of just a negative feedback loop. Royce expects people to be jerks, so he's a jerk first, and when they respond like someone normally does to unjustified hostility, he uses it as evidence that all people are selfish and awful.

Royce follows the same rules he thinks everybody else does. He defines right and wrong by the moment, by what is best for him -- wrong is everything else. If he’s hungry, he steals food. If someone is in his way and won’t move, he stabs them. If he feels he needs to lie, he does. Royce’s morality is simple in that way. He doesn’t believe right and wrong are objective things, that they vary from person to person, and trying to follow any sort of code is a waste of time. The world is cold and indifferent, and nothing Royce can do will change that, even if he wanted to. Which he absolutely doesn’t.

It’s not just people that Royce doesn’t think highly of, either. He doesn’t think much of himself. He doesn’t expect special treatment or sympathy from others, and doesn’t really think that he’s worth saving or that he needs saving. He's been dealt with a hand that's less than favorable, but he makes it work for him and doesn't pine for something better. Any pity is met with disdain and rolling of the eyes. Royce tries to stay detached from being a person with real feelings because he’s had hope taken away from him so many times he doesn’t think it’s worth it. The author of the series himself says, "Even Royce doesn't like to be Royce."

For Royce, his own personal existence and worth is just another unremarkable thing. The only reason that he's still alive is because he's "... just too stubborn to lie still and over the years had grown too mean to give in", according to Royce himself. For instance, the end of The Crown Tower, Royce and Hadrian are terribly injured, trying to make it back to a city so that they can patch themselves up. They jump off a tower, swim through a rushing river, and fend off a bunch of guards with bows, all while the two of them are sporting stab wounds. Royce gets through all of it without much complaining, and he doesn’t have much of a reason to other than he wants to finish the job and prove Arcadius wrong. Life kicks him into the mud, and he stands back up again, over and over, because... well, spite, essentially. He won't give in that easily. He’s not suicidal and he’s not looking for death, he’s just apathetic and pessimistic to the max about life.

It probably isn't surprising that someone this misanthropic prefers to be alone. Royce does, or so he says, but that doesn't make him less of a lonely person. He pushes people away from him intentionally, because he expects them to do it first, which means only the most stubborn people last. Hadrian Blackwater and Gwendolyn DeLancy in particular are the best examples of people who have lasted. These are the people he tries harder for, the people who have given him a little humanity. He tries to be better for the sake of Gwen and Hadrian, who are both incredibly positive influences in his life.

Hadrian is Royce's partner in crime of twelve years, and knows Royce better than anybody else. He's cheerful, personable and hates to kill people, which means he's the exact opposite of Royce. The two balance each other out; Royce's cynicism weighs him down a little less when Hadrian is around, and Hadrian is far less likely to let his trusting nature get him murdered when Royce is around. Being Hadrian’s partner for years has softened Royce a little, and has made it easier for him to be a person rather than a demon. Despite the fact that they bicker like a married couple, they're the closest thing either one of them has to a brother. Royce would never admit it, but he'd take a bullet (or sword, in this case) for Hadrian.

Gwen, too, is important to Royce. Probably even more important than Hadrian. Gwen is the first people in his life to show any sort of romantic interest in Royce, and the poor guy has no idea what to do with it. She’s kind, patient, and loving, but her sarcastic and ruthless streak makes her absolutely perfect for someone like Royce. She’s not afraid to call him out on his bullshit, and she constantly reassures him that she wants him, no matter what or who he is. The love that she shows him is instrumental to Royce’s growth as a person to the point where Royce starts to measure most women he meets by the standard she’s set. He starts to see the world as a little less dark and awful when she’s around, and maybe thinks he’s worth something after all.

To give one an idea of how important Gwen is to Royce, there’s a part in The Rose and the Thorn where a government official by the name of Exeter beats Gwen for not knowing the answer to his question. Royce sees Gwen with all of her bruises. The rest of the book is devoted to Royce’s intricate plan of retaliation, which is to get Exeter alone, with all of his guards far away and distracted. Royce then proceeds to drag Exeter out to the town square, cut off most of his fingers, removes his eyes and ears, strings him up on a statue, and nails a sign that essentially reads “Don’t mess with the girls of Medford House” to Exeter’s chest with Exeter’s own dagger. This is even after Exeter pleads with Royce to not take his life because Exeter is trying to uncover a conspiracy to kill the king of Melengar - to which Royce responds that he’s not sure why he should care about that, and that Exeter really shouldn’t have hurt Gwen. Royce does not take kindly to people hurting those he loves (because he has so few people he does), to the point where not a lot else can sway him from murder.

But that’s in the second book, twelve years before his current canon point. Royce grows a little more into a human, after twelve years of Gwen and Hadrian. Because of them, Royce is willing to listen to other opinions rather than just do things his own way. He kills less, has developed some sort of sense of right and wrong (instead of just doing whatever suits him best at the time), and is kinder. A little. He’s still a jerkass, especially to strangers, but he has the capability to trust because he has relationships that haven’t burned him. Royce can be loyal, and he can absolutely be sweet (in his own tsun sort of way). He’s got a soft spot for kids, especially ones that are struggling, and to some degree, disadvantaged women.

Not to say that the side of him that gruesomely murdered a noble to prove a point isn’t still there. For as much as Hadrian and Gwen have managed to soften Royce up, he’d still probably take out a kid or a woman if they crossed him. It’s just in his nature to be an assassin, to do what keeps him and the meager amount of people he cares about alive.

Flavor Abilities:

Royce is a half elf (a mir, in his world) so his usual powers include:
- being mostly unaffected by extreme weather
- ability to see in the dark and far into the distance, as well as acute hearing
- a sensitivity to magic and magical items, such as being able to know that an item contains magical properties

I'm assuming all of these things will be lost upon entry, because most of these things give him an racial/magical advantage over other people. I'd play him with his senses at a human range. The rest of his skills, which include keen observation, an ability to pick up new skills quickly, decent acting ability, and knowledge like how to pick a lock/pickpocket/kill a man in fifteen different ways (you know, your typical assassin skills) aren't magical or race based!

Suitability:

Royce is one of those characters that doesn't trust very many people, doesn't really make friends easily, and is... well, kind of an asshole. I'd like to see him in a setting where he's forced to work together with other people to survive, and I'd love even more for him to find that maybe it isn't so bad being part of a group. One of the characters in the series he's in talks about Royce like an abandoned dog - Royce has been treated poorly all his life and so expects that poor treatment from everybody. When it turns out people aren't actually looking to stab him in the back, he's confused by it. Being in a place like this, where he has to learn to give in and depend on other people, where people actually offer him food with no strings attached? He'd have no idea what to do with it. The cast list at Snowblind has a good amount of characters that I think could coax him into learning how to be a team player, as well as a couple that might encourage the more selfish side of him.

Plus, Royce is a bit of a suspicious guy, and doesn't really mind killing people for his own benefit nor does he see the problem with doing so. He could be a great source of antagonism, or a neutral opinion, should people need or want a morally ambiguous dude in their plots.

Character Information

Name: Red
Canon: Transistor
Age: 27
Gender: female
Canon Point: After the fight with Royce, when she escapes from the Cradle.
Background Link: right here!
Inventory:
Clothes: her dress, belt, stockings, shoes, and the coat she took from the 'nameless man'.
The Transistor: Technically she has this with her, but seeing as how it's basically a giant sword/flash drive combo, I imagine it won't be with her when she wakes up.

Personality: To begin with, Red is extremely intelligent. She went to a college for civic planners and architects, and a particularly demanding one at that, though she chose to double-major in music and linguistics instead of in any of the more traditional degrees for that school. She wrote and performed all of her own music, showing a strong command of both written and spoken language. Just looking at the lyrics to some of her songs shows how well she can weave a metaphor and hide a message behind some pretty words. Before she even graduated, she showed promise. She was in the spotlight pretty early in her career, and she seemed to blossom under the pressure.

Another mark of Red's intelligence is how combat works within Transistor. Throughout the game, the player unlocks functions, which are basically different types of attacks. Crash(), for example, hits an enemy and makes them vulnerable to further attacks, while Cull() is a very strong attack that stuns an enemy, and Bounce() is an attack that bounces off of the first enemy and hits others in turn. Each function has three different properties, and can be used as an attack, a modifier to an attack, or as a passive effect. So Crash(Cull()), for example, would perform the Crash() attack at a higher damage rate, and Crash (Bounce()) allows Crash() to hit more than one enemy at a time. Part of the game is experimenting with the different variations and seeing which attacks yield the best results. Since Red is, in-universe, the one setting up all of these functions, it is implied that she knows a fair bit of computer coding and how to use what she learns to efficiently kill enemies.

Red is considered one of the most powerful performers of her generation, and not without reason. Prior to the loss of her voice, she was perhaps the most popular singer within the city of Cloudbank, having sold out shows regularly. People would pay top dollar to go listen to her sing, and her songs were so moving that they had been known to cause change within people. At one performance a riot broke out, and those involved blamed Red, saying she was "an instigator and provocateur". The game never explains what exactly it was she enticed people to do, but it hints at the possibility of a social upheaval. Red could have become the voice of a revolution, if the events within Transistor had not happened.

And that is a very believable possibility, if you look at the kind of person Red is. In all of her songs, she has a gentle yet powerful voice, one that can warm even the coldest of hearts. And though her songs all have pretty benign messages, they are still inspiring. And even now, with her voice gone, she still has quite the commanding personality. Her face is just as expressive as her voice had been, and she can hold people's attention, or even silence their arguments with a stern gaze. She just has a huge presence, one that can take up an entire room. It is very hard for her to go unnoticed.

Perhaps that was why the Camerata had labeled her a threat. Perhaps that was why they had tried to absorb her into the Transistor, so that her voice and her power would be under their control. In the end it didn't really matter, since they failed and all. But their attempt on her life, it changed her. Not only did she lose her voice, but she also became a harsher person because of it. Before the attack, Red had been a genuinely agreeable person, happy to sing and bring joy to others. But after the attempt on her life, which took the life of someone dear to her instead, she became bitter and determined. She may not have intended to spark a revolution before then, but after? The Camerata had one dangerous person gunning for them, set on forcing answers out of them.

Of course, to get to them, she has to survive against insurmountable odds. Red is not a fighter (as evidenced by the fact that she had a bodyguard to protect her), and she is in no way prepared to fight other people, let alone the monsters known as 'The Process'. But despite how ill-prepared she is, Red is a determinator, and she can force herself through just about anything. Despite having watched someone she cared for die while protecting her, she quickly pulls herself back up, grabs the Transistor, and pushes forward. She knows nothing about combat, but she learns quickly, picking up function after function as she goes. She is a survivor, first and foremost, and she won't let herself fail.

As the game progresses, Red gradually loses that bitterness towards the Camerata. Not only does time pass, giving her a chance to cool off and take out her frustrations on the various Process monsters she finds, but she also exchanges several correspondences with the Camerata. Asher in particular is a person she talks to a lot, and there is a noticeable change between how she first addresses him and her last correspondence with him. It helps that, as things progress, Asher admits to how out-of-hand things had gotten, and how much regret they all felt. In the beginning it was easy for Red to be mad, because the Camerata was presented as some unforgiving force trying to control Cloudbank. But as the plot progresses and the player is shown how human the members of the Camerata are, Red's own opinion of them softens. This shows that she will not stand for injustice, but that she is sympathetic towards people too. Red never fully forgives the Camerata, but she understands them better, even if she does not agree with what they did.

Despite never speaking within the game itself, Red has quite the personality. Unlike most 'voiceless protagonists', where the player's choices affect their personality, Red has a set personality from the get-go that shines through her actions rather than her words. If you leave her standing idle for a while, she adjusts her grip on the Transistor, showing how unusual it is for her to be holding something so heavy. She also fusses with her hair, showing that she does care about her appearance, even though she may possibly be in danger. In addition, there are frequent news updates at terminals spread throughout the city, which Red can respond to. For most of her responses, she starts out typing something serious, or trying to give out real information, but eventually deletes what she writes and tries again, wording it slightly differently. This typically happens 3-4 times before she finally types something innocuous. For example, in response to a news report about a city block being deleted, she first types out an accusation against the Camerata, which is deleted and changed into a warning not to believe what they see, which is deleted and changed into a warning for everyone to stay away, which is deleted and changed into a simple "I'm alright, I made it out", which is finally posted. This shows that her first instinct is to call attention to what is really going on, but she quickly stops herself for the sake of everyone else. People really listen to her, and if she started spewing doomsday warnings, it might induce a panic. Even though she wants to reveal the Camerata's deeds to the world, she stops herself, for the sake of everyone else.

Ultimately, that is one of Red's most important characteristics: she honestly cares about other people. Though she is powerful and can move the general public with her songs, she still wants to keep them safe. In canon she insists that she does not want to stir up controversy with her music, she just wants to sing and make others happy with her songs. Though she does have a bit of a temper, she would prefer peace to fighting.

Flavor Abilities: She can't really sing anymore, what with the lack of a voice and all, but she can hum! There are no special properties to her humming, other than the fact that it sounds nice.

Suitability:Red's entire canon is about surviving despite being pursued by monsters, so she will be able to survive in Norfinbury just fine. She may not like it, but she'll adjust.

At the canon point I am taking Red from, she has just emerged from the Cradle and is expecting to see Cloudbank after the Process has been stopped. Since nobody in Snowblind even knows about Cloudbank, it's going to take her a little bit of time to figure out that this is not her home and that what has happened in Norfinbury is not a result of what happened in her canon. (It had been snowing in her world when she went into the Cradle, so seeing snow everywhere is not too far of a stretch for her.)

After that, being in contact with real people will be a nice thing for her (she had been isolated in canon), but she will buckle down pretty quickly and start helping the others solve the mystery of Norfinbury/hopefully escape from there. Red is resourceful and can spur people into action, so she will try to help with the interpersonal issues that have been plaguing Norfinbury lately. Also, she will help other people too, because that's how she rolls.

(as a note, text that has been struck out are things Red has typed but deleted before posting)

[Red rubs at her temples as she contemplates just what to post to the network. That post from last night? That was the third time someone had foolishly locked themselves up in the funeral home. Three times now, and it always got the same result. Red understands trying the same thing multiple times, but this is just too much.]

@Red; text

What were you thinking?! Is it really so important that you risk not coming back at all just to

Was that really necessary? I think we got the point the first two

All you're doing is making others worry

We have all seen this happen three times now, I think we get the point. Let's talk this through before anyone tries it again. There's no guarantee that anyone will come back, and with three tries already completed, we don't need to risk a fourth person for it.

Please come back.

3rd person sample-

Sometimes, on the nights when Red found a house that sheltered her from the cold slightly better than usual, Red managed to sleep long enough to dream.

They were always warm, inviting. Usually she was in a field of wheat, with a squat farmhouse and a tall barn in the distance. Even though there was a breeze, it didn't feel cold. Nothing felt cold there. She would walk through the wheat at a leisurely pace, clearly moving towards something but not in a hurry to get there.

He was always there too. It had only been a few weeks since she last saw him, but already his face was beginning to fade from her memory. Instead, she remembered how tall he was, how safe it felt to be around him. And his voice, that was what always came through her dreams clearly. Even in her dreams he spoke to her, and everything felt like it would be okay.

"Hey."

"...Hi."

But as soon as she found him, she always woke up, the warmth of the sunlight fading into the cold of the snow. This time was no different than the rest, and Red found herself shivering as she pulled his coat around her shoulders.

He was gone now. Besides her memories, this was all she had left of him.

Mornings were the worst. Before her mind was awake, when she was still fighting away both sleep and the shivers, Red rarely smiled. She never cried, especially not with traveling companions with her. She didn't want them to wake up and worry about her. Instead, she quietly moved over to a spot further away from them, curled up in a ball, and waited.

When people were awake, she could smile. She could act like everything was okay, even if she was feeling torn up inside. It was much easier for her to pretend when she had a person to pretend for. Performances were her thing, after all. And when she had something to work on, like finding food or figuring out some obscure puzzle ('dig deep' indeed), she was alright. It was moments like this, when she had nothing to distract her, that Red actually had a somber look on her face.

It would be a bit longer before anyone else in her group woke up, so while she waited, she pulled out her tablet and opened the notepad app on her tablet. If nothing else, maybe she could work a bit more on one of her songs. ...well, poetry now, technically. Even though she could hum along, she would never be able to sing these words, so it wouldn't ever be a song.

Okay, maybe it wasn't a day for writing songs. Red flipped to another document in the notepad app, one labeled 'andthentheresthisasshole', and started typing furiously, writing out her feelings about a certain someone whom she was very displeased with. Not that they would ever see what she had written, but writing out her frustrations seemed to help, sometimes.

Hopefully nobody surprises her, though, or they might catch a glimpse of her rantings, which would totally wreck her 'cool, calm, collected' outward appearance she tried to project most of the time.

Character Information

Name: Aigis
Canon: Persona 3 (FES version)
Age: Actually 10, physically looks about 16/17 and goes to high school as such
Gender: Female(-ish)
Canon Point: January 23, after rank 7 of her social link
Background Link: Aigis at the Megaten wiki
Inventory: The Gekkoukan high school winter uniform, which consists of a white collared shirt, a black zip-up blazer, a black pleated skirt, long black socks, and black dress shoes. And her red ribbon, which is compliant with the uniform but is actually a personal possession. THAT'S ALL SHE'S GOT her school bag is getting left behind.

Personality: Everyone loves anime robot girls, right? Well, strap in, because that's basically what Aigis is.

The first encounter with Aigis in the game paints her as beautiful, but also mysterious, expressionless, and utterly awkward. She can't hold a conversation and has no sense of boundaries. She doesn't even realize why she's being spoken to in the first place, and doesn't seem to care because the people speaking to her are irrelevant to her search. She is, in all senses of the word, incredibly robotic.

Of course, this is only when Aigis is activated again after a ten-year sleep. She doesn't have a lot of experience with people or with pretending to be human, because she never needed to. Despite this, it is clear that she has the capacity to be more human-like even from the beginning; Aigis was created in the shape of a human and given a Personality Module that allows her to have a human-like psyche so that she can summon a Persona. The same is true for all the other weapons of Aigis' kind. So, even though Aigis starts out as being very strictly robotic, her humanity develops as she spends more time around humans and forms bonds with them.

Being that she doesn't have a lot of experience with normal everyday life, Aigis can be very curious. She asks a lot of questions about things like school, festival masks, and if she's passing sufficiently for a human. She is quick to ask questions or say that she doesn't understand something. Sometimes this can even become rudeness or downright invasive behavior, since Aigis lacks the proper cultural and social context to draw the line between curiosity and creepiness. She sneaks into the protagonist's (locked) room multiple times because of her inexplicable desire to be near him and make sure he's safe.

Though she eases up a little in this regard, even closer to the end of the game she still doesn't see any problem with asking a total stranger personal questions about loneliness. But, despite her issues with boundaries, there's a bizarre contrast in the way she treats everyone equally. She talks to everyone with a certain kind of respectful, formal manner of speech, and she doesn't anger very easily. She's even kind and respectful when talking to angry dogs and lost cats!

Because, despite her ignorance about humanity and social customs, Aigis is very kind. She breaks into the protagonist's room because she wants to protect him. She probes into the boy's personal life because she is worried about his grandmother being lonely. She expresses that she is concerned about Junpei when he's acting strangely after Chidori's death. As far as she has always known, Aigis' purpose has been to protect humanity from Shadows; she's absolutely devastated when she learns that this is impossible. But even after learning of this, and resolving to find a new goal in life, Aigis still tries to help people in the ways that she knows how.

That said, Aigis is also incredibly loyal. She even remarks on her own loyalty if you put her in the maid costume, saying that it's perfect for her because it's meant to designate someone who's very loyal. Of course, her devotion to the protagonist goes without saying, but Aigis feels very strongly for the other members of SEES, as well. Even when her programming has been interfered with, Aigis cannot bring herself to hurt her teammates, and instead of shooting them as instructed, she frees them from their restraints. This is even before Aigis comes to terms with her own growing humanity, showing how central it is to her character.

But that's far from the only time Aigis' feelings are in conflict with her nature as a machine. She spends much of her time caught between her human side and her machine side, which is probably to be expected when you put a human psyche into a robot. As she spends more time with SEES, she questions the value of only thinking logically all the time, and becomes aware of the disparities between herself and her human teammates. In fact, she becomes quite insecure about it close to the end of the game.

She wasn't insecure at first, but as her human side develops more, she becomes very self-conscious about being a robot. She cannot fulfill her original duty as a machine, but she can never change enough to pass for human. She is neither fish nor fowl, as she puts it. Aigis is used to hiding her robotic nature from her classmates, of course, but her insecurity comes out rather often around her friends who already know the truth about her. She might make a casual remark about not having a natural body, or not really being a person, or being useless because she cannot fully be either machine or human. But she tends to brush it off afterwards, smiling as if she's at peace with her situation when she's really not. She doesn't have the tact to hold her self-deprecating statements back, but she also doesn't want her friends to worry about her.

Aigis often struggles with confidence in general, really. For a very long time, she had one primary directive, provided to her by the lab that built her. She didn't pick this purpose, and she never had reason to doubt it or herself until it was revealed that her enemy was one that was impossible to defeat. It doesn't seem to fully sink in for her until she's almost destroyed in a last-ditch effort to protect her friends from the awful fate that's about to befall them. She completely loses sight of a possible future for them, and especially for herself.

Of course, she does eventually decide upon a new purpose — to make the most of her unique life. She decides to fight with the rest of SEES in a battle that is apparently unwinnable. But even though she truly desires to move towards this future, Aigis doubts herself and her ability to actually achieve what she wants. Much of this is due to her inner turmoil of human versus machine, and her perceived failures in previous efforts to help people. Though she never really gives up for good, it's not hard to cause her to doubt her own value.

A lot of this conflict is self-inflicted, though. In addition to the questions that will help her gain context about human life, Aigis can often be found asking rather existential things, especially as SEES is forced to confront the impending death of all mankind. She yearns deeply to understand the human experience, even if it causes her to reflect on her own shortcomings. Because of this yearning and her tendency to observe, Aigis sometimes shows moments of surprising insight for a sheltered robot; though certainly not always, it's not uncommon for Aigis to pick up when there is a hidden meaning to something that is said, even if she doesn't know what that hidden meaning is.

And, though she lacks certain areas of knowledge, she is very competent in others. She's particularly insightful when it comes to danger and battle situations, owing to her programming as a literal living weapon. This is when her robotic side is most advantageous; she often speaks to the importance of approaching danger with a clear head and a plan. She can be the voice of reason when her team is caught up in the emotion of the moment. Even after the turning point in her character arc when she becomes noticeably more human-like, she comments about logic and fact, despite knowing that even her own emotions are often in conflict with reason.

Ultimately, at her canon point, Aigis is still trying to reconcile what she sees as the two sides of herself. She is not fully machine, and not fully human. She's aware that she has feelings, but often lacks proper context and understanding of them. There are still parts of her approach to life that are very robotic, such as her awkward turns of phrase, her insistent formality, and assertions to herself that she's a machine rather than a person. She's struggling with her place in life, but make no mistake: she does want to live.

Flavor Abilities: Aigis will retain her mechanical body and brain, so she's still pretty much completely a machine. However, she will be susceptible to mechanical failure from the cold equivalent to a human's sensitivity to it, she will need to eat and stay hydrated like a human, and if any of her parts are damaged or opened, she will bleed motor oil. She can be injured or killed conventionally like a human and will bleed everywhere, she just has a mechanical structure. She has guns built into her body--her fingers are literally barrels--but she will have no ammo and the crucial parts to make the guns fire will be missing so they can't be easily repaired. She also apparently has a drill and maybe other tools built in, but those parts will be missing, too.

She has the ability to understand animals through some bullshit fake science, but this will be nerfed; however, if Koromaru were to ever be brought into the game, I'd like her to still be able to communicate with him. She can also sense the presence of Shadows and Personas, which I figure would be okay to keep because it's not like it will apply to anyone or anything outside of her universe... Persona-users also seem to have some awareness of their own Personas even when they're not in use, so she will be aware of Athena's presence in the sea of her soul, but obviously unable to utilize or summon her.

And then of course she's got very specific knowledge of tactical theory and mechanical engineering, and then fairly good knowledge of mathematics and chemistry (those are the only two exam subjects she does well in), plus the knowledge afforded to her by her combat experience. This will all be pretty irrelevant most of the time anyway since Norfinbury's monsters cannot be fought.

Suitability: Given that she was specifically built for combat, Aigis is pretty used to dangerous situations! She's not as used to battles that are hopeless, but at her canon point, she's about to face the ultimate hopeless battle, so she is holding on to some hope of a future. That will be true when it comes to escaping Norfinbury, too. It will be interesting to see how she handles the monsters and the other residents' tendencies to put themselves in danger. Fitting with her character development in the game, Aigis will have to learn how to adjust to being useful in ways besides as a weapon. She'll probably have some difficulty with this, as it's difficult for her to change her perception of herself, but it should be a fun challenge.

Additionally, Aigis is also going to be subject to some very fun, very human sensations in her new sensitivity to cold and her need for nourishment. Since she's still struggling with the idea that she could be considered human, and tries to convince herself that she's still just a robot, allowing her a more human physical experience should result in some interesting growth, since one of her sticking points in the game is her artificial body.
